Nice place to stay for adults and families

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: The grounds, the pools and the beach.
Cons: The lines at the beach bar and long and confusing. this process could be greatly improved by forming 3-4 lines.
WE arrived late afternoon and the lines to check in were nothing, the bellmen greeted us with pleasure and took care of our bags post haste. the check in process was simple and very quick. The rooms were as requested and had a very nice poolside view with quick access to beach, steakhouse and seafood restaurants and bars. very nice accommodations and everything was in working order. We had a deluxe junior suite with Jacuzzi tub. The staff at all facilities were very nice and personable. The food was good for the most part except the reservation process is a bit confusing when booking the hibachi at the Miso restaurant, the first time we ended up on the Chinese side instead of the Japanese side which we didn't know was an option. Things got sorted out the next time as we talked with Roger the head waiter and were able to book the hibachis the next night.

Nice hotel

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: Great resort, easy beach access, pools everywhere.
Cons: Quality of food.
Nice resort and very comfortable rooms. We stayed in a room with pool access. Very convenient. The only complaint was food. I thought food in general was average. I thought the food could be much better for the price we paid.

Nice hotel some minor flaws

Posted Feb 25, 2017
We had a great time on our first vacation out of the country with our 2.5 and 5.5 year olds. The family club was a nice addition especially for smaller children however our oldest had no interest in being dropped off there. They did have little events for the kids to participate in and the splash park was nice. Our kids preferred the big pool and beach but the splash park does give a little break for parents. Food was good and lots of different choices between the buffets and reservation only restaurants. The beach was very nice, white sand and a bar and grill on the beach for quick easy drink and food if you don't want to walk back into the resort area. Few notes: make your dinner reservations as soon as you get there as most were booked up already after waiting until the next morning to make the reservations. The resort is big. So you either have to walk a lot or take the shuttle to most places which isn't terribly inconvenient just takes some time to get from family club to the main pool/beach area. Warning: if you get the cozy coop cars for your kids, don't leave them parked outside your room. Ours were and somebody took them. When we went to check out they made us pay $120 for not returning them. We asked if someone returned them of we can get a refund and at first they said no. After some pressure they took my info but did not guarantee a refund. Overall nice staff, felt safe and comfortable and would recommend.

Great beach with plenty of shade

Posted Feb 23, 2017
Pros: Great beach as much of the area is rocky. Plenty of shade after too much sun. Separate area for kids activities.
Cons: Better wines by the glass, fish tacos.
Location: Easy ferry ride from Cozumel..Ultramar ferry has new boats. Short distance to Xel ha and Akumal. Can understand about an hour.
This was my first all inclusive experience (2 nights) and it did not disappoint...except that I could not possibly drink all that alcohol in the sun without a headache! I have traveled all over the world and finding shade at the beach is normally a problem. BUT Grand Riviera Princess Resort had plenty of shade when I had too much sun...in adult only areas or close to the music and beach games or cabanas as well. My jacuzzi suite was spacious and well appointed, had a good sized lanai, stocked mini bar included in rate. Plenty of dining options and as others have said, sometimes mediocre but never lacking in quantity. My best meal was a salmon filet at Miso Restaurant which calls itself a sushi bar with teppanyaki Japanese cuisine. I never saw a sushi menu but my salmon was perfect and the waiter was attentive but not intrusive. I am a wine lover and would suggest the resort offer better selection of wines by the glass as the house wine is not great. Would love to have seen fish tacos offered like west coast, Puerto Vallarta, Xtapa. Staff very personable and accommodating.

Paid too much for swim out rooms to be stuck in "f

Posted Feb 22, 2017
I paid premium to have swim out rooms. What my husband and I got was placed in the "Princess Family Membership" area. Our rooms were off to the back of the resort in kiddie land. Parents with strollers, small children and babies surrounded us. Bunk beds in our rooms. Swim out area was up against a service vehicle road. Only positive...our fridge had chocolate milk.

Great vacation spot

Posted Feb 20, 2017
friendly staff and very accommodating. It's very big and seemed to have everything spread out so if you are a couple going for a romantic vacation (which we were) or a family going for fun, there were spots and activities for all through the day and late into the morning!

Fantastic! Beautiful setting, lovely staff,

Posted Feb 20, 2017
I loved this hotel I was a solo traveler and had a wonderful holiday. The staff were attentive and the food was excellent. The buffets had a huge variety of food and I ate in 4 of the themed restaurants and like all of them. I travel a lot for work, I worked in 6 countries and 11 cities last year and I think this was the best hotel I have ever been in, I really don't understand why some people leave bad reviews, this surely is a 4 1/2 star hotel at a 3 star price.
