Had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go back! Food was just ok.... Make sure you leave the resort once or twice so you can enjoy an authentic dinner. Drinks were great. The beach is gorgeous and the pools were amazing. If you plan on going into the jungle to enjoy an excursion or two.. Don't forget your bug repellent or you will regret it! I've been told it's a good idea to start taking vitamin B a couple of weeks prior, apparently the bugs hate that and will leave you alone.

Beautiful Beach and Plantinum Category RequiredPosted Oct 11, 2015
I stayed here for 10 days and I enjoyed my stay. I'm accustomed to travelling by myself and I liked the low key and tranquil setting of the resort. I upgraded to a villa, which includes the platinum category and more, and it was worth it - so I highly suggest it. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed the resort as much as I did if I wasn't at this level, or at least platinum. Both categoeries have a private pool, but the private villa pool is very relaxing and very quiet. With the villa category, I had unlimited access to the a la carte restaurants, including same day reservations. The concierge service is amazing and the room service was pretty good. The resort is extremely clean. The gym has excellent equipment and the spa was very enjoyable. I purchased several services at the spa and enjoyed them all. The resort is large and spread out, I heard a lot of complaints about this but I enjoy walking so it wasn't an issue for me per se; however, if mobility is a concern, there are shuttles that can transport you to the different locations across the resort. The resort does spray for insects and cockroaches are around - so bring extra large garbage bags to put your suitcase in during your stay. This will prevent "friends" from making a home in your empty suitcase. Although I am particular on what I like and don't like, I'm very flexible and was satisfied with this resort. It's an excellent resort for families and couples.

Satisfied :)Posted Oct 8, 2015
It was a couple trip and our stay was great. Perfect proximity to beach, with plenty of seating. We had read some reviews about how far the beach was (walking) and we laughed at that the moment we first walked from the lobby area to the private beach area. It was under 8 minutes and a great way to digest after eating. YOU MUST TRY THE CHILAQUILES!! We had an ant infestation in our first room, which normally would damper any trip but they immediately switched us to another room. We felt safe at all times and staff was friendly. Needs improvement: a la carte restaurants were bland, zero nightlife environment (except for a cool Rock band on Friday) *pictures shown of the hotel online are accurate.

wish to see more mexican culturePosted Oct 6, 2015
Pros: the hotel has a kids club, but we didn´t use because on the front desk they tell us that this was not include, even that expedia said it was.
Cons: more alternatives of mexican food. there is almost nothing.
this Hotel was OK, the rooms were good, the only thing is that we reserve a garden view and we have instead a restaurant roof view, not quiet a Garden, the beach was fine, too many seat were you can rest. There is no free wifi available, and if you buy some online time you couldn´t connect to the web, at least we couldn´t and a conceirge tried to help us without any sucess. The food was not what we expect, there is no mexican restaurant available and in the buffet you only find a few choices of mexican food, even that Mexico it is very rich on that. On the specialties restaurants you have to make a reservation at least one day before, even that we travel on a low season and when we arrive the restaurants look almost empty. The other thing is that when you arrive to the airport there some tourist info that seems to give you some advices but the only true is that they are try to sell to you a hotel shared time, that also happen on the rental car and when we arrive to the hotel, they promise you several gifts but you have to give them at least a morning of your time, when they tried to convince you to buy, they tell that they only want you to know more about, an hotel, or a beach town o anything else so you can promote when you came back at your country, and that it only spent an hour or two, but the truth is that you waste a whole morning on it, so if you are for a few days.. I don´t recommend that you go there.

Hotel was very impressive. Extremely Clean!Posted Oct 5, 2015
Pros: How nice it was. Everything is very conveniently placed at this resort.
Location: Location is great. Only about 45 minutes from the air port in cancun. We only went on 1 excursion, but it was a lot of fun.
My wife and i were on our honey moon during our week long stay. It was an absolutely awesome experience. Staff was really nice and helpful. Pools were great. Would highly recommend the junior sweat with the walk out pool. Beach was awesome. Only thing we wish could have been better was the food. There were still some good food served, but had higher expectations. Overall, it was an awesome experience and would highly recommend this to anyone.

great hotel, very plushPosted Sep 30, 2015
Pros: great food and booze.
Cons: wifi should be included as standard!
Location: Xcaret is well worth a visit, so much wildlife and caves/rivers to swim in.
immaculate hotel but I recommend upgrading to platinum as this is the only place you will get wifi and free room service. Plus the rooms on the platinum site are spacious, close to the beach and have both and indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi. Food is very good but book the restaurants on the first day otherwise its the buffet every night - which is actually very good!

TROUBLE WITH HOTEL ROOMPosted Sep 28, 2015
Pros: SEE ABOVE
Cons: SEE ABOVE
ORIGINALLY BOOKED THREE ROOMS CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. HAD TO BE ON THE FIRST FLOOR DUE TO A HANIDCAPPED PERSON. WHEN WE GOT THERE WE WERE BOOKED ON THE SECOND FLOOR WHERE THERE WAS NO ELEVATOR ACCORDING TO THE RECEPTIONIST. WE FINALLY GOT OUR THREE ROOMS BUT NOT CLOSE TOGETHER. ON THE FIRST NIGHT, AT 3:30 AM, THE JACUZZI MOTOR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND SMOKE WAS THROUGHOUT THE ROOM. IT TOOK FIFTEEN MINUTES FOR SOMEONE TO ARRIVE TO THE ROOM. HAD TO VACATE TO ANOTHER ROOM. THE NEXT DAY, THE TOILET WAS NOT WORKING AND HAD TO GET THE PLUMBER OUT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES BEFORE IT WORKED PROPERLY. AFTER ALL OF THIS, WE HAD TO GET OUR DOOR KEYS ACTIVATED TWICE. WHY THEY WERE DEACTIVATED, I DO NOT KNOW BUT IT WAS AN INCONVENIENCE TO KEEP GOING BACK AND FORTH TO THE RECEPTIONIST. THE FAMILY CLUB RECEPTIONIST SEEMED TO BE QUITE CONFUSED AS TO WHERE WE HAD TO CHECK OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT WE CHECKED OUT AT THE FAMILY CLUB RECEPTIONIST WHERE WE CHECKED IN BUT WHEN IT WAS TIME TO CHECK OUT, I WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE RIVIERA RECEPTIONIST. I HAVE BEEN AT THE GRAND RIVIERA SUNSET MANY TIMES AND WAS SATISFIED BUT THIS TIME WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER. THERE WERE NINE OF US AT THE FAMILY CLUB AND WE WERE ALL EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

Great hotel for families and couples!Posted Sep 28, 2015
The hotel does a great job of keeping families and adult couples and friends traveling in groups separate. This is great for both groups! The staff is always friendly and there to help and make sure you have a great experience! This is my second time at this hotel and will be going back for a third time for sure!
