Fantastic hotel

Pros: Good location, great staff at the resort and the facilities were all excellent. Pools were good and the beach was very clean and looked after.
Cons: One of the restaurants was closed for a few days unexpectedly which was quite surprising. A little more advanced notice to guests would be good
Location: Playa del Carmen is a short taxi ride away for some nice shopping. Xcaret is close by aswell.
We were a little nervous about an all-inclusive and being stuck in a resort for a week but were nicely surprised. There was a good variety of restaurants available, some for breakfast, lunch and dinner, others for just dinner. The food was very good with a nice selection in all the restaurants and a children's menu was available aswell. The hotel was split into 2 areas, the Zen and the beach section. We stayed at the Zen and almost had a private pool for a few days - the pool staff, Alberto, Fernando and Oscar were all excellent and made an impression so be sure to visit the Zen pool if you go. The spa was excellent and very relaxing for my wife. Playtime on the beach was well provisioned for with a wide variety of water sports for an extra fee although it wasn't over-priced. Jetskis, Parasailing, sailing, diving and snorkeling were all there for trying. Overall the week there was very enjoyable and we certainly have it on the list of places to revisit in the future. The kids really enjoyed it aswell.

Total paradise

Our whole family was there. All our rooms were in close proximity and this allowed us time to bond. We celebrated my grandsons 14th birthday we made unforgettable family memories. The service was amazing. I highly recommend Grand Velas.

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff are the best including your personal concierge who is there to assist you with any thing you need. The food is top rated. And make sure to bring collar shirts because the restaurant require them

Pros: A vast majority of the staff are incredible.
Cons: Please note prior to booking this particular resort, it maintains a high volume of corporate events. It was not overly-burdensome, but noticeable.
Well maintained facilities. Service is impeccable.

Beautiful, 5 star luxury hotel

We can not say enough great things about our experience. We felt pampered from the moment we arrived at Grand Velas in the Zen Garden area. Our concierge Maryana was fabulous and so welcoming! The grounds are extremely lush and great for families. The Zen pool makes you feel like you are at the spa and is so relaxing. Unfortunately the restaurant over there (Chaka) was closed making it more difficult to get food. It had to be ordered through room service (via the pool staff), and took awhile. This closure limited dining options at Zen, especially for kids. The short shuttle ride over to The Ambassador section was very efficient and a quick ride. It made it easy to head back and forth between the 2 sections. The Ambassador pool, and the beach are pure paradise and the view is spectacular. The beach sand was the softest white sand we have ever felt and beautifully maintained! Definitely look for Jorge for the best poolside service and drink is that keep flowing. The mango margarita is divine! Top notch, delicious food! We loved the grilled shrimp poolside at Ambassador and the ceviches and guacamole are fabulous. We did lunch there most days. For breakfast, the Azul buffet is wonderful with so much variety. For dinner, we ate at Lucca twice, Azul once, Piaf once and Sen Lin once. All were great, and Lucca and Piaf were our favorites. We wish Sen Lin had a little more for kids, maybe some more recognizable Asian dishes. Overall an amazing resort and vacation, amazing staff!

Great all inclusive

Location: The resort is it, not much else going on outside the property
Wonderful experience. Everyone was great. Only issue was on leaving, no one came to pick up our bags and bring them to the lobby. Our butler did set it up, just no one came. Other than that...very nice..

Wonderful Vacation...

Pros: QUIET!!!!!
Cons: On leaving no one got out bags from the room as scheduled. We had to go back and retrieve them for our transfer back to the airport.
Location: All Inclusive, we never left the property
First class ALL THE WAY. Elduardo at the Zen pool was GREAT...Wonderful client skills!!!
