Love this place

Pros: The staff, and food, the facilities are truly gorgeous, and feel premium everywhere you go.
Cons: The time share presentation can be improved, it doesn't need to be that long or painful
Location: We didn't leave the hotel grounds, plenty of things to do
The stay wasn't bad, but I want to bring attention to some of the troubles we encountered and warn other people. This was our second time at this resort. This is by far the prettiest place we've been to, the facilities are great and so was the staff. As "repeat customers" we were offered an "opportunity" to sit at a presentation regarding their premium club (or whatever the name was, which is simply put a 90 minute time share presentation). Essentially they bought our time by offering us a massage (there was golf and other things we were not interested in). We met with the people, went to breakfast, which was awkward as we were just sitting with two other people at our table that weren't making things pleasant at all. They asked us questions, mostly rhetorical about If it would be better to spend more or less money for the same product in our vacations. When we sat at their office, the asking of the rhetorical questions continued. By minute 90 (our commitment) I've had it. I asked what the cost of this club and as it hadn't been mentioned yet, "I'm getting there" was the answer I got. My wife snapped and confronted in a more direct way the salesperson. His response was "you don't have to be here, you don't have to stay". We did until "the closer" came so we could get our certificates (something tells me we would not have gotten them if we have left, not without a fight). My advice, is, if you get offered the presentation, go for it! Listen to it, BUT keep them on their toes

Beautiful hotel, outstanding service.

Pros: While there were many activities available, we chose to relax and enjoy the weather. It was an almost perfect week.
Cons: We had difficulty making reservations for the restaurants. Several were closed at a time, and often we couldn't get in to any restaurant.
Beautiful, adults only, relaxing. The service on the beach, at the pools, in the room was outstanding. i

Not quite 5 Star (But very good)

Pros: The compact size of the hotel was very well organized making it easy to get around. I particularly like the "quiet" pool.
As always, the people working at the hotel tried real hard; but, were not educated on what 5 Star customers expected. The food was tremendous; however, I didn't think that the typical customer appreciated this type of sophistication. I have been to other 5 Star hotels (i.e. the Grand Velas) and the atmosphere seemed more refined. The Iberostar Grand is a very fine hotel; and, most guests will have a satisfying experience.

Beautiful grounds! and much more!

Pros: The premises, staff, and the Spa.
Location: Did not do much outside the Hotel complex but one night we went to Playa del Carmen downtown. The experience was disappointing.
Our experience at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso was excellent. The gounds and rooms are very nicely decorated and maintained. We have travelled a lot and I must say I was a bit skeptic about staying in an all inclusive hotel. However, no regrets this time! Comfortable beds, clean and all in order bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent in the all the restaurants, except the Italian which was average. Make sure you use the services of your floor concierge! They were so helpful to set up reservations to all the great restaurants not just in the premises but also in the other hotels of the complex.

Pros: We loved the staff, restaurants and comfortable rooms
Cons: The coatia were a little weird.
Location: Loved the hotel, pool and beach so much we never left. Lots to do nearby. We were just there to relax.
We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff was 100% helpful and friendly. I don't think we ever heard the word "no". When we told them we were celebrating our 25th anniversary, they upgraded our room, no charge. The food at the Grand Paraiso was fabulous. The a la cart restaurants definitely serve delicious, beautiful meals. The buffets are even 5 star quality. One downside was a slightly rocky beach which made it difficult to enjoy the water. This was easily remedied by the pool, it was huge, plenty of seating, great swim up bar. We would definitely return and recommend!
