My wife and I stayed at the Secrets Capri from December 19th to December 25th. This resort has a lot of potential; but, based on our personal experience, it will always fall short on achieving 5 stars. We have a bit of experience with AMR Resorts; as we stayed at the Dreams Vilamagna in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico earlier in the year.
I think the one thing that makes any all-inclusive resort great is the quality and consistency of the service provided. In this area, this Secrets resort falls short. There were many that provided great service including Toni at the Cactus Grill, Antonio at Portofino’s, the lady at the Cocoa Café (she was there almost everyday) and Eddie at the Breakfast buffet. There were many that would only provide service to those that tipped; and, it was very obvious. I don't have enough room here to get into a lot of detail (see my Tripadvisor review under AtwoZ for specific details on the Room, Food, Beach & Service).
Although the food was good, you could get premium liquor and you could eat at any restaurant or order room service anytime you wanted, there was always a cash grab around the corner. For me, that does not make for a great vacation; and, if this is what I can expect from AMR then I will spend my vacation dollars elsewhere. I do not need to settle; and, I do not think you should either. It is too bad; as, this place has a lot of potential. It was the most consistent food I have had at any all-inclusive resort.
