Outstanding service in a small luxury hotel!

Loved the spa, entertainment, service, and beach! Check in was a breeze! I had called the week before to see if we could get an early check in because we took the "red eye" from SFO. When we arrived at 7:30 am a room with beach access was available. Of course there was a slight charge, what one would expect for early check in. The room was beautiful! When it was time to head to our original room I asked if we could have the room we were in. The hotel staff encouraged me to go to my new room and if I didn't like it, we could return to the first room. OMG! Our upgraded room was a suite overlooking the ocean, pool, and bar. It was so comfortable and quiet! The bed and pillows were so comfortable I didn't snore at all and woke up refreshed and ready to go with 8 hours sleep. This is unheard of for me. I wanted to buy the bed a pillows to take home! Needless to say, I have been encouraging my friends and family to stay at the Secrets! I've already started making plans to stay ther next summer!

Good beach & Staff, Surprisingly Decent Food

Pros: Good food, nice beach, the water activities available (catamarans, paddleboards, kayaks), yoga classes with great instructors, friendly staff.
Cons: Reduce wait times for concierges, tone it down the sales push, beach beds should be free not an additional cost (other resorts offer this at no cost)
Location: We stayed at the resort the whole time so we did not leave the property.
We arrived sometime after noon and were informed that our rooms weren't going to be available until after 3pm, not good. Luckily, we were whisked off to one of the restaurants for a quick lunch. After eating, we followed up on our check-in and we were offered a 1.5 hour "tour" (read: 4-hour timeshare presentation of the Unlimited Vacation Club membership) and breakfast at their Secrets Maroma property (which is 10 min away). They'll offer incentives if you initially decline... it's up to you (we unfortunately agreed and wasted almost half a day). They say they're not pushy but they essentially want you to sign on to a membership that's the equivalent of a home equity loan on the same day. I've read mixed reviews online of the UVC membership (mostly negative) but I suppose it's worth it if you want to spend all of your vacations at their properties, which are nice. We did not opt for the membership. We were also displeased that we did not get the king bed we had originally booked and that we did not get to try the Japanese restaurant, since the concierge booked us on the day it was closed. There are a few restaurants in the hotel, all quite good; we were pleasantly surprised at the quality. The staff is eager to please and the onsite activities were enough to keep us busy. We enjoyed splashing in the water, snorkeling, sailing and paddleboarding. I also enjoyed the morning yoga classes and was surprised they even offered Crossfit classes. Overall, we had a positive experience

Nice resort with fun pool and quaint beach.

Pros: Friendly staff. Nice rooms. Beautiful pool.
Cons: Slow drains in the bathrooms. Less soliciting to purchase more things (felt everyone wanted more money instead of making my stay enjoyable).
Location: We stayed on the resort. Weather denied our ability to go off the premises encountering bad luck with rain. Near the airport which was convenient.
Rooms were comfortable and service was great. Pool was large with plenty of space. Servers were fantastic. Entertainment was excellent encouraging to participate without being too pushy. Food was fair. Fantastic Asian restaurant but not as pleased with Steakhouse or Seafood. That could be purely a personal preference. Biggest complaint is continual insistence on spending more money, whether by trying to get to visit other resorts for free privileges or requiring minimum win purchases to sit at preferred tables. Beach small in comparison to other resorts we have stayed before. Overall a good experience but likely will try somewhere new next time.

Family wedding trip

Booked the trip because my cousin was getting married at the hotel. We were all hesitant about it due to the cost. But we got there and it was amazing. The hotel is bit worn but the staff is outstanding and go well above and beyond to make sure you had everything. The food and drinks were plentiful and good
