Beautiful Resort on one of the best beaches.

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Pros: Location, Service, and Food
Cons: Bed was slightly firm for my taste.
Location: Located about 40 minutes from airport, in a serene tropical environment with one of the best beaches in the Americas.
My wife and I recently stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach. We have traveled to many resorts both all inclusive and not all inclusive resorts. This is by far the best resort we have been to. The location was great, the staff was excellent, the food was traditional and exquisite, and service was excellent. We became members of their vacation club and will be coming back yearly. Truly exceptional experience!

Nice Resort, Awesome Beach and Ok Food

Posted Nov 20, 2016
This was a good - not great - resort. 1.) Checkin - Checkin we were welcomed with a cool towel and a glass of champagne. However, they immediately pass you off onto someone trying to sell you into their vacation club, which was annoying. 2.) Currency Exchange - The resort does not give a good exchange rate. For credit card it was Ok. For cash they were about 20% below market rate. 3.) Room. The room was nice. We had some dead bugs with maggots on our balcony and a chew container left on the balcony. The room was nice otherwise. The main room opened up into the bathroom and the toilet was not that private. 4.) Swim Out. The Swim out room was nice but the pool was too cold to use in November 5.) Preferred rooms. There are about 6 large buildings to the beach. The preferred rooms are in the 4 closest to the beach and pool. If you want a closer room this works. However the rooms closer to pool and beach are farther from main building which has most of the restaurants. 6. wifi. Wifi was free. It was at the beach and pool. It was spotty at times. 7.) Beach - The beach was awesome and very nice. They were always cleaning it. There are waiters for food and drinks on the beach. 8.) Pools - The pools were nice. There are 2 main pools. Waiters for drinks and food at the pool 9.) Food. Food was only Ok. I wish it was better. It is the same food you see at all the AMR resorts. Since this one was more money I was hoping for better food. Do the daily meal specials.

There seems to have been a number of deficiencies encountered which are very atypical and not reflective of our brand experience; if this stay was marred by irregular circumstances, we can only renew our apologies and assure you that we have in the meantime briefed the team at great length of your comments. We are looking forward to welcome you back again in a near future.

A little piece of Heaven on Earth!

Posted Nov 8, 2016
Location: This is more secluded location, not very close to Cancun/Playa del Carmen. We took a private shuttle to Tulum and Xel-ha- both beautiful and worth it!
We could not have been happier with this resort, our room, and our overall stay here. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever had. The room is clean and beautiful, with an amazing tub and spacious shower stall. Our maid service was very thorough and prompt. The other staff throughout the hotel were all so friendly, all the time. We'd never gone to an all-inclusive before and the experience was spectacular! Someone was always there with a smile ready to provide us whatever we needed or wanted. We enjoyed all the restaurants - a lot of delicious food! Oh, and the beach and pool were heavenly! We spent hours relaxing In the sun and loved having drink service at our beck and call. There were plenty of activities going on if you felt like doing something else. The entertainment team was a lot of fun! The only complaint I had was with check in. We were exhausted from a long 8 hrs of travel and after they did the usual register info, gave us our room key and overview of the hotel, we met with another nice young man who was 'inviting' us to schedule a preview tour of their extras like the preferred club so we might consider their frequent users reward program. It look a long time and we weren't interested but they don't like to hear no. I was tired and frustrated by the time we got to the room. I wish we would have been forewarned of that. But the rest of the stay was truly incredible and I wish we could have stayed longer!

Superb customer service!!!

Posted Nov 6, 2016
Pros: The seafood restaurant was amazing; Chef Luis, Bernardo, Johnathon, & Juan gave first class service! Made for extremely memorable birthday and dinners
Cons: it is a shame that tipping is not encouraged. Mexico has the best customer service we'Ve ever experienced.
Location: Great location short 25-30 minute ride from Cancun airport. We renter a car one day and drove to Tulum about an hour and a half away.very easy drive.
This was our first time at a Secrets resort; my partner and I travel often to top beaches 4/5 star resorts and Secrets Maroma beach did not disappoint. Facilities are immaculate, food was very good---very gluten free/vegetarian friendly; beautiful beach (comfortable beach chairs); and amazing customer service! it is a shame that tipping is not encouraged. Mexico has the best customer service we'Ve ever experienced. Workers here work long hours 8-12 hour shifts 6 days a week for as low as $4 per DAY. If you have the extra income to vacation please be curious enough to tip beach waitresses; bartenders; waiters ; housekeeping; bathroom attendants; bellboys; taxis/drivers; tour guides; basically anyone who goes out of their way to make your stay memorable. They too have family to support.

Top notch! This place was perfect!

Posted Oct 22, 2016
Location: Lots of things to do at the hotel itself but we did a Tour to Tulum and shopping in Playa Del Carmen and that itself cost around $360 plus tips.
It started with champagne the minute we walked in the door and didn't stop until we left. I really have no complaints about this hotel. The food was good, the grounds were very well kept and there was not a corner that I saw that was dirty or nasty. Our room was cleaned daily and they also provide turn-down at night. We had a swim out room which I preferred BY FAR over a little sliver of ocean view. I would recommend spending the extra for the swim out. I did not feel that the staff hung around and expected tips although we did tip the bellman, bartender and the beach servers. As all hotels like this you can't escape the sales pitch to get discounts on spa or beachfront romantic dinner by listening to a 90 min pitch to buy a timeshare. We simply declined and we were not hassled after that but then again the beachfront dinner is $400 and still $200 after the 90 min sales pitch which was not worth it to us. The adults only was great as we really wanted a peaceful vacation from the daily chaos of kids and pets, Secrets did that for us for sure! Each building has a concierge who was very helpful and knowledgeable. There is daily entertainment and activities so you can really do as little or as much as you want. Excursions are a little pricey $150 each for a tour to Tulum, snorkeling in the cave and Akumal but coordinated well and included lunch at a beach restaurant. Cab fares are high and it's about $28 one way to PDC to shop. Overall I would highly recommend!
