Awesome Vacation.

Posted Jan 15, 2017
Pros: The service was amazing. The rooms are very modern. Breakfast was VERY good and had a lot of variety. The spa was very relaxing.
Cons: More games such as darts, shuffle-board, or air-hockey. Mini-golf area needs a little rehab. Rooms need some TLC. TV clarity was bad on many channels.
Location: There isn't much nearby, but you can always book a tour to see ruins, an eco-park, or whatever it is you want to see.
My wife and I went to Secrets Silversands for our 5-year anniversary. The first thing we noticed was how friendly the staff were. I'd say the best thing about the resort is the quality of service. We had excellent service from each and every staff member that we encountered. We found that our room was very nice, but needed some TLC. There were areas on the ceiling and counters that were stained and the couch at a giant stain on it. While we didn't find these things to have any negative impact on our vacation, I understand that some people would find the state of our room to be a big problem. I should add that I only saw my room so I don't know how it compares to any others across the resort. Aside from the breakfast buffet, which was always great, we found the restaurants to be very hit-or-miss as far as food quality is concerned. Some standouts: The pea soup, escargot, and pastry dessert from Bordeaux. The tomato soup and beef carpaccio at Portofino. The Argentinean turnover duet from Seaside Grill. The chicken wrap and club sandwich from room service. Taste is something that varies from person to person, so you may end up loving everything from each restaurant. The beach isn't very good so we spent most of our time sitting at the pool. The entertainment team walks around the pool and organizes different activities, or you can just hang-out and get drinks from the many servers that are always around. All-in-all, the resort was great.

Great getaway for adults—couples or families

Posted Dec 26, 2016
Pros: All of the staff—and I mean all—were friendly and helpful. Not once did anyone say "No" or "I don't know."
Cons: The lights in the main pool! This pool hosts the bulk of the activities and several people cut their foot on them including my father.
Location: The beach was nice but the water had a lot of seaweed and rocks. Never a dull moment because the resort had activities and shows planned all day.
We traveled as a family of 5 adults and had booked three rooms—Preferred Club Rooftop Jacuzzi Ocean View. Upon arrival the bell hop gives you champagne and escorts you to concierge. Since we purchased Preferred we were escorted to the Preferred Club where we had our own private check-in. Just a note, be prepared to experience some type of up-sale for romantic dinners and spa packages at check-in. Later in the conversation we discovered that they over booked the rooms we were staying in so my partner and I were upgraded to the Preferred Club Honeymoon Suite overlooking the ocean. Other than that and a few little hiccups here and there, the trip was a great experience. By the way, the actual Preferred Club is like a cozy office with concierge, that always has food and carries the top shelf liquors in their small bar area. We were actually in and out of here frequently getting drinks and making requests. The resort has lots of pools to choose from. There is the main pool that hosts most of the daily activities and smaller pools that lend themselves to being quiet and peaceful. There were copious amounts of food and even 24 hour room service. Some restaurants were far better than others but overall decent. Another note about dress code for formal, just don't wear blue jeans and a t-shirt. Guys can get by wearing at the very least nice alternate colored jeans (like beige), khakis, collared shirts (yes polos), and even nicer more stylish boat shoes.

Relaxing stay at Secrets Silversands

Posted Dec 23, 2016
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. The Rock Show was memorable. Daily pool volleyball w/ staff. Pools are everywhere, even quiet ones. No mosquitoes.
Cons: Few functioning soap dispensers in all restrooms. Was violently ill after eating at Italian restaurant, no staff follow up. Extensive beach erosion
Location: Resort seems to be the first stop from the airport, ~20 minute drive. ~30 minute drive to Playa Del Carmen. Snorkeling 5 minute walk down the beach.
Stayed a week at Secrets Silversands, where the service was friendly and helpful from beginning to end. The (basic suite) room was large and clean with an above average bed and good pillows. Pool was large w/ swim up bar and activities throughout the day. Best food was from the French restaurant, Mexican and Mediterranean restaurants enjoyable as well. Japanese was typical for hibachi, fun to watch. Beware the carpaccio, as eating that at Itialian restaurant laid me up for a day...I suppose that they do have a raw meat warning. Room service 24 hrs a day - food...probably typical for room service anywhere (meh). Note that if a man forgets to pack slacks, it would prevent him from eating dinner from most restaurants (dress code). Sneakers substituted well enough for dress shoes. Waiters will find you at ANY pool or part of the beach and bring you your favorite tasty drink. Breakfast was good, lunch was ok - the lunch by the pool looked tastier. I didn't have any difficulty getting a chair at any beach or pool whenever I arrived. Only have to get up early for the few palapas. The Rock Show and the magicians were the shows to catch, both on week days. Anyone who wants to watch home sports at the beach is in luck, as they have a sports bar showing all games and they show Thursday/Sunday/Monday Night Football at one of the pools, projected on a building w/ sound. Bottles of tequila may be won via at Bingo, Texas Hold'em, Darts, Ping Pong, and possibly other contests.

Perfect vacation and favorite resort, bar none!

Posted Dec 15, 2016
Pros: Everything! The property is gorgeous, including the staff, lobby, bars, restaurants, rooms, balconies, views, pools and the overall layout!
Cons: The beach was lovely, except employees were constantly raking up seaweed and transporting it to dispose of...a deterrent for water/snorkeling lovers!
Location: Off beaten path, private/secluded. Took the Bike Excursion into quaint Puerto Morales, where there was rich history/great food/drinks/shopping/views!
My husband and I have traveled the Caribbean Islands to All-inclusive Resorts for over 20 years, and this resort was far and away the best we've ever stayed in! Everything was first class, the location, property, amenities, shows, activities on site, i.e. fun games, dancersize pool side, outdoor fire-pit meals poolside daily, excursions, food, restaurant selection, shopping, bars, pools, hot tubs, proximity to everything, including the beach, and most importantly, the Staff was unbelievably friendly, helpful, accommodating, efficient and funny! From the moment we crossed through the entrance until the day we headed back out a week later, this experience was our all-time favorite, bar none! Our favorite staff members were, Omar, Preferred Lounge Guest Services, Marino and Meredith, bartenders and servers in the Preferred Lounge; Renan our server in the World Cafe; Miguel, Nikko, Anna Banana, and Adrian, in charge of outdoor games, excursions, events and activities! These wonderful, fun-loving and energetic employees MADE our stay what was...exceptional!!! I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Room Service, which we took advantage of several mornings for breakfast! The staff's glorious personalities, attention to detail, even bringing food up on carts with warming trays below to assure the food was kept at the proper temperature, and the quality of the food went beyond our expectations! We will most definitely return to this resort as soon as possible!

Amazing Staff!

Posted Nov 21, 2016
Pros: Staff, food, swim-out room.
Cons: Preferred Club needs to offer much more and a Guest Services Manager needs to be hired and "on the ground" daily, welcoming guests.
Location: Fairly isolated. Beach erosion makes long walks difficult.
Good food, nice rooms, great pools and super staff make Secrets Silversands a fun vacation venue. While the beach is not the best, you will enjoy your stay. There are active pools and quiet pools. There are evening shows and many dining choices. Preferred Club gets you a nice room location but little else, so you may wish to save money on the upgrade.

Totally Great Experience

Posted Nov 15, 2016
Pros: Everything from the food and drink to the entertainment. I just love this resort.
Cons: Would love to have some restrooms on the opposite side of the pool, it can be a long hike multiple times a day.
Location: We never ventured from the resort grounds so it was fine for us.
My husband and I traveled to Secrets Silversands the week of November 7th. It was our second time to travel here and chose this resort to take our friends because it was top notch the first time and it did not disappoint us this time. The food was impeccable the drinks are top shelf, the entertainment staff pour their hearts into making their guests happy (Thank you Myra, Anna Bananna, Nico, and all the others), the waitresses and waiters are always there to please you(Thank you Karen for waiting on us for the week), the rooms are very clean and comfortable, never had to fight for a pool chair, the beach was very quiet if you wanted to get away from the noise. We went to almost all of the nightly shows and they were great entertainment. I would recommend this resort over and over again

Very Nice All Inclusive Resort

Posted Nov 2, 2016
Stayed at the hotel for 10 nights for our honeymoon. The food was great--especially the Asian restaurant. Initially we were told that this was the only restaurant you had to make reservations for-- we later realized that was only for the hibachi section of the restaurant. We did the hibachi which was good, but also just went to the regular restaurant twice. Jose, who was a waiter at the Asian restaurant, told us to come back for our last night and he would do something special. We had a special seat in the restaurant, decorated romantically with flowers and candles, and the chef prepared a 4 course meal for us. It was delicious and made us feel really special. He was great. Delmy, who brought us drinks while we lounged by the pool, was also very nice. She took the time to learn our names and remembered what drinks we liked. Overall it is a great resort and there were plenty of things to do. We had great weather but the last few days it was pretty cloudy. They could add some more indoor activities for when it is raining out. We were able to watch the Pats game as they have a sports room but it would be even better if they added pool tables in that room and a bar so you could just hang out in there and watch the games. Other than that, they have live entertainment every night and there were plenty of things to do at the big pool during the day. I would definitely go back.
