Beautiful all-inclusive in Playa!Posted Nov 26, 2015
My husband and I went to the Royal for our honeymoon in mid-November. The resort is beautiful. The service was great. The food was pretty good. A GREAT first impression for it being our first trip to Mexico and an all-inclusive resort. Would definitely go back! Cons: If you want a place with spectacular beach, this place isn't for you. Stray cats roam the property, and they will come up to you at restaurants near the beach.

Nice hotel great staffPosted Nov 26, 2015
Hotel was wonderful but the transportation was not. We had called and reserved a pickup service from the hotel and once we landed there was no one to pick us up. Staff stated that our reservation was overlooked. So we had to buy a transportation service that was at the airport. Other than that we had a great vacation.

Wonderful PlacePosted Nov 25, 2015
My wife and I had an unbelievable honeymoon there. The resort was beautiful and the food was great. Our master suite was more than we expected. The beach isn't that bad. Will return!

Hermoso hotel all inclusive, playa y ubicacion uffPosted Nov 23, 2015

Well-maintained, Clean and Beautiful hotel.Posted Nov 22, 2015
Pros: The atmosphere, the location & the service.
Cons: Honestly, nothing. All of my expectations and desires were met or exceeded.
Location: 5th Avenue shopping, Ferry to Cozumel. You can shop downtown, snorkel or travel around the island. Meet with resort-based personnel for excursions
I read many reviews about The Royal Playa Del Carmen resort before my visit. Those reviews rated the resort from good to excellent. I rate it excellent! If you're like me, you want to feel the value when you spend your hard-earned money. My money was well spent here. Although I'm not a needy person, service was excellent. Food was terrific. No buffet style food...all restaurants with meal menus. The pool area is beautiful with adequate, quality beach chairs. The beach was average, but don't get hung-up on that because there's plenty of beach along the coast to explore. The 5th Avenue shopping is directly outside of the resort. The other guests appeared to be a more mature group. I would say average age of mid-thirties. I would definitely consider revisiting this resort.

Excellent stay, but ocean view it was notPosted Nov 20, 2015
Pros: The staff was top notch.
Cons: Variety of restaurants
Location: 5th Avenue was really neat. 10-15 blocks of shops. It was amazing all the people there too.
We had a very nice room that was advertised as ocean view. In order for most of the rooms to see the ocean you have to stand on the balcony and put your head over the balcony like you are getting ready to jump and then you can see the ocean. We were on the quiet side away from the pool and I would've prefered to be closer to the pool if I didn't have a magnificent ocean view. The staff was out of this world nice! They had someone walking around to clean your sunglasses and when you check in you get to pick maid service time and turn down service along with the style pillow you like and room aroma from oils. There was a huge jacuzzi style tub in the room, huge! The beds were as comfy as my tempurpedic at my house. I had no complaints about the room or the staff. The food for lunch was about the same in two of the restaurants and a little bland, but not bad. The steak was cooked a little beyond well done. We loved the omelettes though. The drive was an hour from the airport. It was a little annoying having to drop off 3 couples before we got to our hotel.

Great LocationPosted Nov 19, 2015
Our 2nd time at the Royal and it was a great as the first visit. The staff is amazing, especially Rebeca with housekeeping. Resort has a great location, just a block from 5th ave or a short walk to Cozumel ferry. Food was great as well.

Meh... Kind of a let downPosted Nov 19, 2015
Pros: The staff was great.
Cons: The pool needs to be WAY more entertaining. The food could improve.
Location: The location is IN the town of Playa del Carmen. So if you like going into town, then you would enjoy this location.
We LOVE Mexico, and we try to go at least once a year. This year's trip was very disappointing. Now, the weather played a role in that as well, but the resort was very lack luster. The staff... AMAZING... Night time entertainment... AMAZING. All of the people working at the resort were top notch and we adored them. The bad part... The pool was boring and had poor layout. There was only one very small swim up bar that was not apart of the big pool. So the pool is split between a smaller pool (was colder) and a larger pool. There was some policy where they could not mix liquors. So if you wanted a kamikaze shot or something along that matter, NOPE. You were only allow straight shots of rum, whiskey, tequilla.... There was hardly any music or entertainment at the pool. The food was extremely blan and everything tasted that same. Again, we loved the staff, but we will never return or recommend this resort.
