Not a fancy place but very reasonable for the price and location. No complaints.

Not For MePosted Jun 23, 2015 on Hotels
Room was not fully cleaned from the previous occupants. Food was left in the refrigerator, there was debris on the floor and debris in the sofa pullout. The staff member that accommodated me was extremely efficient by recleaning our room. Was awakened by annoying base in the parking lot the first night and occupants arguing the second night.

Staff is very nice, but rooms are notPosted Jun 23, 2015 on Hotels
Staff was very helpful and friendly. They made sure we were assigned rooms on 1st floor so seniors did not have to go up stairs (there is no elevator.) Room carpet was wrinkled and looked dirty; there was a plastic fork on the floor between the nightstand and bed. Pillows were terrible; lumpy and very 'squishy.' Breakfast--although plentiful--ran out of yogurt and bananas. Juice dispenser didn't work properly. Would not stay here again because rooms open onto parking lot. I prefer rooms opening onto an interior hall for security reasons. But location is convenient to Salem.

Surprised by all the good reviews this hotel gotPosted Jun 22, 2015
I know this is not a 5 star hotel, and we were not expecting that either. We do know what we pay for, so this is what we did expect: a clean hotel; a comfortable bed. That was it. On the outside of our room, we saw roaches running around. We understand that this is something hard to control, so we did not let that upset us. But the moment we entered our room, the smell was really bad. It was a combination of humidity and something else, that made it look almost as if it had been a room where people could smoke. And it was one of those places where I rather not taking my shoes off. The bed was ok, but the pillows were like small squares with no support whatsoever. It gave us a terrible back pain. We could not sleep well at all. Then in the morning, from 9 am to 10 am, they knock on our door and tried to get in 3 times to clean. Check out is at 11 though, and each time I told them "no". It was very loud, and we thought they were getting in whether we liked it or not. It was odd. The front desk people seemed helpful. I can't tell much. We got there close to midnight, and left before 11 am.

There was an odor to the room. It also had a damp feel to it.

Pros: Awesome bed.
Cons: The room could have been cleaner.
Location: You gotta go to the Home Place Restaurant.
The bed was awesome and everything worked. The room could have been cleaner. My feet left dirty tracks when I got in the tub, I'm guessing from the carpet as I had on shoes and socks all day. The edge of the carpet where it meets the tile was ragged. There were no privacy cards (i.e., "Do Not Disturb") and the holder for them had a very thick layer of dust on it.

Overall nice.Posted May 5, 2015
Pros: The breakfast
Cons: Sure it was a busy time but make sure rooms are ready for guests. The 1 room w/no shower curtain- could have offered to go and purchase one.
Location: Food and shopping near by -Walmart. Close to Roanoke College
I reserved 3 rooms with each to have 2 double beds - overall it was okay. It was a busy weekend, we were there for a graduation. However, 1 room was missing a shower curtain and when asked for a new one, was told there weren't any and we would have to make due b/c hotel was booked. Also, 2 out of the 3 rooms had food leftover in the room and refrigerators. On the positive, we were given 1 room a suite by accident instead of a double bed. It had a jacuzzi and had plenty of room. This was not my first time here so I kind of knew what I was getting. They do offer breakfast and it is a combo of hot and cold items - myo waffles, eggs and bacon, fruit, cereal. So not a bad deal. And as always the hospitality of the person (lady) who cleans up the area where we eat is very friendly and hospitable!
