An adequate place to stay in Troutville

Posted Apr 15, 2016
Pros: Pleasant staff, clean room, nearby restaurants.
Cons: Replace the small round table in the room with a desk. Improve the soundproofing between rooms.
Location: Several restaurants are nearby. Troutville is not too far from Roanoke.
I had a 3-day training course in nearby Daleville. A fellow participant's impression of the least expensive motel, Howard Johnson, wasn't particularly good, so I looked at others in the area. The Red Roof was the 2nd least expensive. The lobby staff person was very nice and the facilities were clean and neat. The second floor hallway carpet had a few faint stains, but there were no unpleasant odors and the walls were clean and unscratched. I found the rooms to be clean and comfortable, but a bit noisy on the second night. The walls seem to be rather thin. The breakfast was a 'Continental' one. There was typical fare on the first morning - cereal, mini-English muffins, mini-muffins, fruit, juice, hot chocolate & coffee, but several of the items were missing on the second morning (at 7:30). The location is convenient from the Interstate. There are many places to eat nearby; a Cracker Barrel is a short walk away. All in all - it's a nice place to stay if you're not demanding too much. I'd stay there again.

Very nice for the price.

All was very nice. We stayed 3 nights and were satisfied. You can't beat the price for what you get. I was concerned when I saw the guy next door going in his room with his big dog, but we never heard the dog at all. Breakfast was very basic.I always look forward to waffles now at hotels and there weren't any. The hotel staff was very friendly. Again, can't beat the price. We were there for the Nascar race in Martinsville an hour and fifteen minutes away and the travel time was worth it to save a lot of money and get a good place to sleep.

The personnel at the registration desk we're very nice and since my wife is disabled, they offered us a handicapped room. The room was confident and had all the necessary handicap bars etc. Made our stay even easier to get things done.
