    About this property

The Little House at The Finger Lakes - Pool Open Thru End September!

The Little House is the perfect base for exploring the Finger Lakes. Set just off West Lake Road, on the slopes above Canandaigua Lake, in 14 peaceful acres and surrounded by woodland trails and extensive lawns, yet close enough to civilization! Bristol Harbour Resort wedding venue and golf course is on the same road. Enjoy a rustic, natural and perfectly humble ‘resort’ with swimming pool for guests to enjoy (open Memorial Day w/e to end September), with grill and campfire. A getaway you want to get back to! Part of an old Homestead built in the 1880’s, The Little House is one of just two dwellings, plus a beautiful old barn, and the old wood shed. You can enjoy plenty of privacy and space to stretch your legs strolling around the grounds and woodland trails. If you wish to stay put, relax and simply enjoy The Little House, stock up on provisions and have a night in! Cook your chosen dinner on the deck grill overlooking the pool (open seasonally) and lawns, plus full kitchen kitted out with all that you will need for a short stay. If you run out or simply fancy a change, enjoy a range of spirits, mixers, wines and beers from the Honor Bar. Our quirky cottage is mostly open plan which makes it a sociable space, and we think it makes a perfect set up for a couple or two friends. We do have a brand new queen-size sofa bed in the living area to accommodate two additional adults/children for group or family trips although the areas are only separated by drapes for basic privacy: the stairs that lead up to the master bedroom do not have a door - awesome for families, maybe less private for two couples! During summer, our swimming pool is available for guests to enjoy. Sun loungers and pool towels will be provided. Very often, our guests will have sole use of the pool. From time to time, it may be occasionally be used by ourselves, or guests we may have staying. Couples are welcome to bring their own pack-n-play for infants and toddlers. We leave a flashlight in the hall closet for guests to borrow during their stay as although there is some outdoor lighting, the flashlight is a useful supplement! If there is anything you should need during your stay, we are generally next door and happy to assist, but other than that, we think it is important to leave you in peace to relax and enjoy your getaway!

    Cute cottage. Loved the pool.

Had a girls weekend for my birthday. All amenities were available. Cottage is right next to the main house though and the pool is right behind the main house. Overall it was a fun weekend.

    Mini-Moon at The Little House

Shona and Scott have been nothing but a pleasure to communicate with and meet. As this was our mini-moon the day after our wedding, Shona made our visit an exceptional one. She offered to gather some groceries for us, had a bottle of champagne waiting for us, and even some lovely decorations in the bedroom to emphasize the new love that was coming into her home. The house itself was adorable and exactly as described. The pool was great in the warm August sun, and we were even able to get a fire going and enjoy the night surrounded by nothing but the woods on their 14 acre property. The only "warning" I'd give is that during a sunny summer day, with the A/C's off, the house can get very warm if sealed up. The A/C's do a great, and quick job of cooling things down. My wife and I really have nothing bad to say and would (and hopefully will) return to this property in the future. All other owners should strive to be as lovely as both Shona and Scott were!

    4/5 Good

    Special touches

The little house had everything we needed and the owners take great care of the property. The view of the large yard through its many windows was pleasant and comforting. It was clean and has a well outfitted kitchen. It was nice to have coffee provided, chocolate treats, and was well stocked with pay as you use beverages. A couple more forks and regular sized spoons was the only thing lacking.
