Howard Johnson Rock Hill

Pleasant atmosphere. Air conditioner kept cycling on and off so room was not as cool as I would have liked. Higher price than some nearby competitors.

OK for the money

Posted Aug 21, 2015
Pros: New TV, waffles for breakfast, minifridge and microwave, friendly staff, NO BUGS, price, easy drive to Carowinds/mall areas
Cons: More pillows! Insulate walls or enforce quiet hours, improve parking (assigned slots?), redo the lobby so the breakfast is easier to access, new beds
Location: Shopping, All Charlotte NC destinations, Billy Graham Library, Carowinds, Restaurants (Go to China Kitchen!!)
I chose this hotel from a massive list of options near Carowinds theme park. It was one of the only options under $100 that did not have reviews that mentioned bugs in the room. Is this really too much to ask? That we can have a hotel room for under $100 that is not buggy? Anyway, I knew what I was getting into by choosing this hotel. You may want to know that it is a "motel" style hotel and each room opens into the outside. There were no bugs and the room was clean. We stayed in room 103, a king room that was handicap accessible. This meant there was no parking anywhere near the room because it was near the front of the hotel and the only spaces near it are handicap. We had to park clear on the other side of the hotel on both nights. The pictures of the hotel show outdated TVs, and tiny bathrooms, but this room has a newer flat screen TV with HDMI access, a nice desk, and a large sink/counter space outside the bathroom. It even had a working microwave and mini fridge! The staff was friendly and speedy. The breakfast was sufficient. Our neighbors at the hotel came in at 12am each day and spoke in overloud Spanish, so it was hard to get a good nights sleep here (I know that isn't the HOJOs fault). But overall it was an OK stay. I would recommend it only if you are trying to save money.

Well worth the price!

Posted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: Price
Cons: The air freshener was strong. Not sure if it was sprayed in the room or came out of the a/c.
Location: We didnt stay long.....
If you are looking for a hotel for a quick night's rest, this is the place for you.I haven't stayed at a Howard Johnson's in over 20 years so I was a bit leery. The rooms were not that old, very clean and comfortable. And breakfast included! Lots of places to eat around the area as well.

RH HOJO

Posted Jun 4, 2015 on Hotels
Brief trip to Concorde NC and we stayed in HoJo on the way. Price was a major driving factor. The room was large enough and was clean so we were happy. Near the interstate so we ran into some transient people, but the staff was nice, helpful, accommodating.

One night stay

Posted May 31, 2015
We needed a decent place to sleep for one night on our way to Florida. Clean, comfortable, adorably, and convent. It met our criteria.
