Amazing time in this infamously haunted hotel, deep in the Rocky Mountains.
We stayed in the Room which inspired Stephen King to write We spotted this beauty on our hike to Gem lake. It is a 1.7 mile hike up to the small but beautiful lake.
It is medium difficulty, be prepared to sweat in the heat.
This spot is the BEST place to go if you know that the main entrance to the park has a long line of cars and that there is unlikely to be anywhere to park your car. The trail has less people than anywhere near the main entrance.
#hiking The most stunning firework show I have ever been to was at Lake Estes.
The show starts at 9:30pm. The parking lot is completely full by 6pm, so park early in the day (as close as possible to the main road entrance) and spend the day hiking near the lake or biking around it.
Find a spot to set up your chairs as close to the lake as possible. It can easily take an hour to get out of the parking lot after the show if you aren't parked near the entrance.
