Nice authentic Mexican hotel in the Romantic zone

Posted Sep 25, 2017
Pros: This is a clean authentic Mexican hotel - I like that it is rustic and not fancy and all inclusive.
Location: We liked the location-you can walk to the beach, Malecon / Downtown, Pharmacias, fresh produce market, restaurants, OXXO stores & nightly taco stands!
We enjoyed our stay-it was very affordable so we could enjoy more activities. It has the basics TV, WiFi access, ceiling fans, private bathroom, dresser and closet so you don't have to live out of your suite case. We prefer rooms with balconies but they also have rooms with air conditioning. We have actually booked another stay for next year

NO AIR CONDITIONING

Posted Aug 4, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Very nice Mexican styling. Very good price.
Location: This hotel is in Old PV (Romantic Zone). Tons of nice restaurants and curbside food. Quite a short walk to the ocean .
There in mid July for a week. Hotel was fine EXCEPT NO AIR CONDITIONING. Perhaps I missed that when I booked with them. Conditions were brutally oppressive in the rooms be- cause only 1 CEILING FAN. Every day in PV was 90 degrees and 80-100% humidity. If you are not going there in the dead of summer I'm sure it's fine; otherwise make sure you get a hotel with AC!!

Del Mar Amore'

Old town is special...if you enjoy local food and people and don't need fancy,if you are more Hemingway and less Kardashian then you will love the simplicity of the Traditional Del Mar! Either way you exit whichever way you turn, you will find smiles and smells and sights that will awaken your imagination! From the lamps to the furniture, from the staff to the hot showers, the balcony overlooking old town life, enjoy!

A more authentic experience.

Posted Jun 2, 2017
We didn't want to stay in a hotel that was just like the ones in the US. We wanted to really experience Mexico. This was an excellent choice for us. The only down side is that there isn't a pool, but it wasn't really a downside for us, because the ocean is just a few blocks away and it's a pleasant temp! If you're on a budget, or don't feel like you need to stay in some fancy super American resort, this is the place for you!

A nice place to return to after a nice day out

Posted Mar 19, 2017
First, I found the women who managed the desk to extremely friendly and helpful, as were the housekeepers. They even helped me with a little Spanish. While, this is no five-star hotel, it is probably more than 3.5. Although the rooms and building are dated, they were very clean, and it was clear there was an effort to maintain them. One minor complaint would be that it can be noisy, particularly early in the morning and late at night. That could be because apart from hotel rooms, there are apartments and the staircase winds up three flights to the rooftop patio and more apartments through the centre of the building. What I liked most about this hotel was that it was away from the busy tourist traffic, about five or six blocks from the beach, but in a more local neighbourhood. There appeared to be more ex-pats living in the area than tourists, and it was great to soak up a bit more culture as Puerto Vallarta residents went about their daily affairs. There are several restaurants, bars, green grocers and corner convenience stores within minutes walking. It is also an easy walk to the Malecon area and several banks, including an HSBC and Scotiabank, and a Starbucks if you do not want to enjoy a local café. The river is a block over, and a small island in that part of the island contains some interesting Hollywood movie memorials and leads to the road leading either to the beach or the Malecon area. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. It is not expensive, excellent value.

Real Taste of Mexico Budget Hotel

Posted Mar 19, 2017
Pros: I loved the location and there were good low priced restaurants everywhere. Shopping was excellent. Convenient economical bus stop. Walkable to ocean
Cons: No swimming pool, refrigerators, microwaves, elevator to only 3rd floor. No windows. No phones in rooms. More voluntary information on check-in.
Location: Walkable to ocean, Malecon, River Cuale, great Mexican market, shopping, low cost restaurants, bus stop to anywhere.
Economical real Mexico budget hotel. Nothing fancy but very clean. The staff is excellent for any help you may need, particularly Rosa Marie. Friendly atmosphere. Close to everything. Bus stop to everywhere very close by. No bugs. Comfortable bed. Rooftop patio and view were great. There is a pay phone in the lobby. I am rating this as excellent particularly because of the cost of the room, staff, and cleanliness. The things I list in improvements would only add to the cost, so I can live without them.
