Excellent!
We've stayed at the hotel for many years - usually about 8 times a year. It's always to a good standard and staff very friendly and helpful - it's become a home-from-home for us. Very convenient for Ciampino. We have no car in Italy so the COTRAL buses, passing frequently, are very useful to get to the airport or to Anagnina then Rome or, the other way to Albano etc. 'Top' supermarket nearby and plenty of bars in Frattocchie. Highly recommended

Excellent services at Hotel Excel.
Amazing facilities, very strategically situated near the airport. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only disappointment was the small size of the shower facility.

Ciampino faulty towers: not Excel, not Rome.
Far from Rome, not so close to the airport, poor service. The manager forgot to schedule a taxi early morning, as we requested, so we almost missed our flight. The room was in a different building far from the reception desk, and we had to walk late night upon our arrival, and rush back to the reception to pick the taxi when it finally appeared. It was an unnecessary source of stress.

Everything about the hotel was good , transportation was very poor , we end up spending more time form hotel to the city than we wanted to, it was also expensive for transportation to city and back , for next time will most likely find hotel at the city.

Nice place for overnight stay Ciampino airport.
Nice hotel, large room, garage space was nice but tight. Not sure why the kitchenette was in the room, but there is an additional charge for use of it. Close to Ciampino airport which was nice for us. Staff was great and very friendly. Wi-Fi not good at all in the room. Had to go to the reception area (different building) for Wi-Fi.

We were really impressed at the quality of the property for the price we paid. We went to the restaurant in the evening (quiet but fine) and breakfast was nice. The room (family room) was very spavey with a lottle kitchen you could use for an extra cost. It was a good find for an airport ish hotel

Good hotel staff very helpful
Hotel outside of Rome, Shuttle bus will take you to train station free of charge, I was at the hotel for a week I was out every day had a great week.

Pleasant stay
The morning shuttle to ciampino train station was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was a little uninteresting and a gluten free nightmare, bread and croissants. I would have enjoyed the option of fresh fruit but having said that, it did a job. The hotels lack of ice was a little inconventient (warm wine is not nice) but the room was exceptionally clean and spacious

Parking horrible, reception rude, room dirty, bad air conditioning. Bad WiFi . Worse place ever so small and uncomfortable. Had us go from one floor to another to check in.

Got a free room upgrade after a long day of travel
Airline was running hours behind. We didn't get in to the CIA airport until after midnight after they closed. It was a challenge to get to the hotel, but when we did, it was great to hear they upgraded our room and took tremendous care of us. It was so nice to have that experience after a rough night of traveling.

Horrible rooms and location
Our family stayed here for two nights, however, I was ready to leave after check-in! We checked in minutes after dinner, but was able to purchase sandwiches. Our room was “in another building” behind the main hotel, red flag. immediate building entry was not so bad, but needed work. Freezing cold greeted us entering our room. There were patches of plaster and paint on the walls, as well as larger furniture scratches, the carpet was filthy and most likely the source of smell, the built ins were not bad as far as condition, but they contained dust & paint spatter on all of them. The couch in the front room was made as a bed, however, the 1 blanket on it was old, thin wool with enough balls in it to make another blanket! There was a permanent indentation which raised the foot and rolled whimever lates down to the middle. Not bad since it took the room about two hours to warm up! The adjoining room had two single beds, not warm for hours later. Hotel is away from everything, so transport is expensive. There is a shuttle that supposedly transports between the hotel and main train terminal, but don’t count on it as we were not picked up in the evening and had to pay for a taxi. Shuttle also costs between hotel and airport, but site says its free. We opted for private transport. I would not recommend this location unless you have a room in the main building and available transport.

Too far from city center
Nice hotel, but it’s in the middle of nowhere, nothing around to pop too (like shop, restaurant ) Too far and awkward to get to city center, Got to get about 12 min mini bus that is supplied from hotel only at certain times to train station, then catch 20 min train to city center , then a tube or bus or walk to wherever you’re going , can’t have a late night out cause latest you can get back is 11.30 mini bus or get a €66 taxi back to hotel, I moved to a closer hotel in city center and only needed tube or I walked it was a great weekend cause I moved , I was falsely informed from Expedia about travel to and from the hotel , not a happy person cause of them

Reception friendly and helpful, even a welcome drink. Ideal for an overnight stay near Ciampino airport but location a little tucked away from Rome for anything else. For the price, a clean room with usual facilities was a bargain.

Terrible location, lack of service and over priced. Their Orbitz site says there is shuttle service from CIA airport. This is false. Be prepared to spend 22 euro for a taxi one way. One you arrive, there's terrible services including spotty wifi. The breakfast was mediaocre. I won't return again

Sleepless in Ciampino.
We have stayed here several times and is fine for a night if you have an early flight. However on this occasion a room full of guests in a nearby room caused havoc. They were screaming at each other for hours. The manager tried to restore order but failed and the police were called. I know it was beyond the hotels control but we ended having less than four hours sleep and an early flight home. I felt sorry for the large US group who were equally disturbed and had an early 11 hour flight home.

Good, no frills hotel
The rooms are fine but a bit old and my room's A/C did not work. The breakfast area is lovely and the breakfast is typical for Italy (no great buffet) but there is plenty and good coffee. The area immediately around the hotel is quite unattractive and one needs a car to go anywhere.

Second stay at Excel Ciampino. This time was lacking. Our first room had a noise issue, moved to second room where shower was broken. Moved to third with no wifi but stayed. Was hoping to use the gym but was locked the whole time. Definitely not a 4* hotel! Redeeming factor was the staff who were always willing to help and very friendly

IT IS NOT NEAR THE AIRPORT
IT IS LOCATED 8 KM IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. IT COSTS 25 EURO TO GO TO AIRPORT. IT IS IN A TERRIBLE LOCATION. THE HOTEL INFORMATION FOOLED US AND LIKE ME MANY CUSTOMERS ALSO FELT SAME WAY.

Needed a place close to Ciampino airport...it was that. Complicated to get into the downtown. They offer a shuttle, but it only takes you part way and very limited on times.

The hotel had no wi fi and the air conditioning was not working one of the rooms was not clean.had tv wires hanging on the wall.hair were dirty as well as carpeting.breakfast was leaking some of the condiments that were there on previous stays.2 people in a room only had one towel and one bar of soap. Had to ask for extras.

Worst hotel ever!!! Do not stay here!!
Had the worst hotel experience of my life here. If you enjoy a clean room, wifi, transportation, the room you paid for or a room not falling apart you will not want to stay here! I paid for 2 queen beds and was given 2 twin beds. I then had to argue and wait with the front desk for 20 minutes to get the correct room which he said he could see was on my reservation on the computer. The wifi went out about 9:00pm and was out until after 7:00 the next morning so there was no way for me to check into my flight or have any connection to the outside world. My room had spiders and floor boards that were broken causing me to constantly trip over them and I was told there was free transportation to the airport but was only told its between 8-10am after I booked and my flight was before that. I then had to pay 24 euro for a taxi to take me 5 miles to the airport. The staff did nothing to help or accommodate me. They just kept saying "too bad". I know this is not how all hotels in Italy work because I stayed at a great place a town or two over. If you need a hotel go to Frascati, the hotels are so much better!!!! I contacted customer service and they only said they'd give me 50% off my next stay. Considering that was my last night in Italy and I will never stay there again that doesn't really help. They refuse to give me any refund for all the stuff I had to deal with. Have no idea how this place got to be a 4 star hotel. I beg you, stay anyplace else!!!!!
