Great access to Termini railway station
This hotel is 5-10 minutes walk to Termini railway station. In general the area around the station is quite scummy but this hotel is in a nice area just up the road from Basilica of Saint Mary Major where there are also a few nice restaurants. The hotel itself is okay but looking a little dated but in general very clean. The area is quiet at night and the air-conditioning very good. The mattresses could do with being changed as they seem old, lumpy and very soft. The breakfast was a typical basic Italian, but without any pastries which I found strange. However there was enough to fill me up in the way of yoghurt, fruit and cornflakes. I was only here for one night and I would definitely stay again.

This was our first time staying at the property and unfortunately because of flooding the previous week we had to be moved across the street to another property. They carried our bags and let us check in early though. Wonderful experience and great breakfast!! Would stay here again if ever in Rome.

Hotel Review
The hotel staff wasn't very friendly. The only person to give us their time of day was the cleaner and she was run off her feet. (A smile costs nothing) The room we stayed in didn't have any hot water, the room needs a lick of paint and the AC didn't work. We didn't spend much time in the hotel but the time we did spend there wasn't very pleasant. This hotel proves the point that you get what you pay for.

We had twin beds which I prefer for better sleeping. There was a small bathtub - the only one on our travels. The breakfast was had lots of variety and was very good.

Hotel is close To Everything
The hotel is OK for people like my wife and I who are looking for a place to stay but do not spend much time in their room. We only look for places close to transportation and prefer walking to see as many sites as possible. This hotel is close to some really great restaurants and the buses are within a block or so if needed. Do not go to this hotel if you have any type of handicap as it is not set up for people with any problems.

Poor experience
The only good aspect was the hotel being close to transportation and city center, but unfortunately, although we paid for a room for a couple with a big bed, we got "the last room with two separate beds" lined in Indian file, a very small room compared to the picture we viewed and booked. Not to mention the noise made by drunk guests who were disrespectful of others, while the personnel did nothing about it.... a poor experience for a hotel in the center of Rome. Breakfast was nice, service staff friendly.
Next time we surely assign you a bigger room, thank you for choosing our hotel!

OK for a 3 star hotel and the price asked for, but lacked of heating, mainly in the dining room at breakfast time. Will be much improved when the repairs are terminated.

Never again
Not only it was a shabby building that screams for the renovations, situated in filthy neighborhood, it also didn't have air conditioning in the room. Even though the website says that the rooms have air conditioning and climate control, the man behind the counter said it is only available in the summer. On October 6, when we checked in, there was +28℃ in Rome. It was hot, humid and stuffy... Nevertheless, the reception person refused to give me the remote control for the conditioner so I can turn it on. He said it was cold enough outside so I can sleep without any air conditioner. He was arrogant and defying. Definitely he didn't care about customer service at all. I can't see why he is the one that should decide for me what is hot and what is not. Besides, I don't understand why the site doesn't specify that the air conditioner is only provided for the summer. It sounds like cheating to me. Expedia should have a better control over the hotels it advertises. As I think, the cases like this one, undermine its reputation and credibility.

Run for your life!!!!! DO NOT BOOK TO STAY HERE
Where do I start! Me and my sister arrived early into the actual first day of our trip & found the entrance chained & locked with a Dosey incompitant night desk clerk fast asleep on the front desk area. The unwelcoming staff member ( male) felt it was his place to reprimand us for the fact our flight had arrived late thus our late checking. This person was compleatly incompitant and tried to con us into paying over and above the price for our booking/room. With the downstairs area appearance not up to much our room was 1000% worse!!! To our horror we found we were put into a poky dark & dusty twin bed room, calling it 'Shabby Not Chic' would be a compliment so let me just say is was a run down, 70s hot mess! The bathroom stunk, whilst the sink was half way detached from it's stand, with the actual toilet needing 3-4 attempts before actually flushing. The mouldy and grime coated shower stall was disgusting to look at much less use day to day. Weak Internet,no air con ( considering it was temperatures in Rome was high), no working Plug sucket ( only the main light switch worked), a hole in one of the windows and the free breakfast was stale, basic, and unappetising to say the least! On our first night there was no chance to sleep as a physco woman was screaming the hotel down all night long threatening to burn the place down??? We mentioned the incident to the day shift person at the desk in the morning they just shrugged it off. Not a 3 star hotel PLEASE DO NOT BOOK TO STAY!!

It is near the Termini station - just a 5 minute walk. The staff are very friendly. The wifi only works in the lobby. It is a perfectly adequate hotel. The bed is small but it gets the job done. The bathroom is nice. The A/C works well. I don't know how anyone can really complain about this place. It is affordable and well-managed. I would stay here again.

Clean and convenient but seedy location
We booked this hotel for our last night in Rome, only to sleep basically and catch our plane out in the morning. We checked-in very late due to having taken the last train from Naples... the neighbourhood is super-sketchy at that time. The room was clean and the hotel is within walking distance to Termini station from where you can catch a bus (way cheaper than the train) to the airport. The breakfast is a good size buffet.

Don't stay at D'este
The pictures online were not accurate. The room I asked for was a double room, but it was the size of a shoebox. Small broken and dirty bathroom. The beds were two twin kid size beds. We refused to spend the night there and had to find another hotel that was close by and much better on short notice.

Convenient location to Termini
We stayed just one night as we were passing through Rome and made reservations through Expedia online and last minute. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff questioned my daughter's age (16) saying she is considered an adult and I had made a reservation for 2 adults and 1 child. I told them that the Expedia reservation form stated children were <17. In the end, they didn't charge for an additional adult. Elevator didn't work so had to carry luggage up to our room. But the hotel was convenient and the shower was the best one I had in Italy.

A great Europeon, small hotel right in the city centre. Great value for your money. We thought the staff were helpful and friendly. Our rooms were cleaned very well every day. We loved the big open and close shutters on the windows. We also enjoyed the breakfast very much and the terrace we could sit at in the am and in the evening with a bottle of Merlot.....

Friendly, modestly priced, central hotel.
The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Because of my flight I arrived, as I expected, before my room was ready - but was given a cold drink and able to sit comfortably until it was. I had a lovely large room with a view of the Basilica of St Mary Major, and the receptionist, noticing my arthritis, changed the room initially booked for one with a shower, which was easier for me than a bath. There was a slight problem re hot water, but that was immediately put right. Buffet breakfast had lots of choice, the little patio area was attractive, and there was a microwave to heat bread etc if wanted. The lift was efficient. The hotel is near both Metro lines, and several bus routes, which made travel easy, and there were plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops in the immediate area. I was shown how to get to an airport bus within easy walking distance (the Ryanair bus from Ciampino actually dropped me off rather further away) There were some noisy guests while I was there which was a nuisance - but that could happen anywhere. Altogether everything was done to make my stay pleasant.

Kings in Italy are infants?
I was supposed to get a King Size bed in this hotel. It was a single bed that made noises everytine I moved. The room wasn't ready by check in time. The personnel, mostly chinese, barely speaks italian (just one of them could be considered fluent) and even communicating in English was difficult. Bathroom: the shower stall was so little that I flooded the bathroom everytima I took a shower. Everything looks old and not really clean.

Adequate hotel near Termini station.
This hotel had nice Italian character in a great location near Termini station. The drawbacks were however: (1) We had a room next to old elevator. It made a very loud sudden screeching sound stopping us from getting to sleep and woke us up in the night. I suggest the hotel management look into this. (2) On the expedia booking we put down that there are 2 adults and 2 children. On arrival were told there were only two beds as we only paid for a triple room.I wrongly assumed that Expedia would have automatically made the adjustments to get us the extra bedspace but it has to be formally requested on the booking. We got by, but the attitude of the hotel reception staff was discourteous and disappointing. You don't want to be told ''its not my problem'' by them after 9 hours travelling with delayed flights and young kids. They offered an extra bed at 15euros/night but couldn't do at short notice for the first night.

Great value
Short walk from Termini station, 20 minute walk to the Forum, friendly (and English speaking) staff. The proximity to piazza dell'esquilino (practically on the doorstep) was a nice touch as well, and it served as a good point of reference when navigating my way back. The decor was a little antiquated, but the room was clean and the shower was decent (which is a huge plus of course!). If you're a light sleeper I'd recommend asking for a room at the front of the hotel, as opposed to the back. The square out the back is home to a number of what I assume were A/C units, which made a pretty noticeable noise all night; sort of like a deep hum. It wasn't an issue for me given my exhaustion from walking around in the Italian sun, although I did have to shut the windows, but families/couples might not enjoy this so much. The area wasn't bad, although it's probably worth mentioning that the nearby streets seemed quite popular with street vendors and consequently quite congested. Quick note, I did notice one or two homeless folk lingering around near the piazza in the evenings, but you're bound to see a few on a city break! Nobody ever gave me any grief and I felt quite comfortable withdrawing cash from an ATM (which has English language functionality) opposite the piazza. Otherwise, no issues whatsoever. I'd stay there again for sure.

I enjoyed my stay; small room for one person but worth the affordable price for a two-night stay. The included breakfast was appreciated, in addition to the convenient walk to Termini with one duffel bag. The hotel was clean, and the service was friendly. A small city tax is applied (I think it was 4 euro). Wireless internet was best in the lounge, but occasionally available on parts of each floor.
