Unfortunately this hotel is not a pleasant experience. I understand the history behind Rome maintaining its original structures but this hotel is just unbearable. Everything about it is just wrong, provides for a very pleasant experience. The lobby smells terrible to begin with so as soon as you enter that terrible smell hits you every time. The hallways are very dark and moldy. The beds are just incredibly uncomfortable, the mattress is so hard you can’t sleep. The bathrooms are all outdated, it’s kind of disgusting to even shower. The sinks are broken and you can see the plumbing all messed up and rotten. The housekeeping is terrible, bathroom is gross, I mean I just feel terrible about all I’m saying but it’s the unfortunate true. I will give this hotel two positive things, the location is excellent, unbeatable really. You can walk to many landmarks from the hotel. The second is, the front desk at midnight-Guido. He was wonderful, went above and beyond to give us tips on places to go and waited for us every night to make sure we made it back safe and sound. The other night attendants couldn’t even manage to give us a wake up call. If you want a mediocre hotel that will ruin your vacation in Rome, then stay here. Other wise, do yourself a favor and chose another hotel.

The location is right in front of the Trevi Fountain. Beautiful view from the roof top at breakfast and for drink’s overlooking the fountain. But … old and not so good if you’re a large person. Make sure you look at the room size and bathroom size.

This hotel is steps away from the Trevi Fountain, in Piaza de Trevi.You could not ask for a better location. Everything in the old city is walkable. The staff are freindly and very helpful And the breakfast on the top floor with a view of the fountain is an excellent way to start the day!

Very over crowded and loud outside. Hard to get in and out of the hotel and immediate area. Rooms were not in great shape, shower was dirty, had to ask for toilet paper and other basic stuff. Great access to dining, shops, and Trevi Fountain.

The staff was fantastic, attentive and accommodating. Being across from the Trevi fountain is good and bad. There were crowds at all times, which made getting in and out interesting. But walking out of the hotel and having the fountain as your view is wonderful. The street / crowd noise at night was somewhat frustrating, but that’s to be expected.

The smell of sewer in our suite was intolerable. When we reported it, all they could say was “the hotel is old” we don’t recommend this hotel at all.

Our view was incredible and we were able to check in early which was very nice. Upon arrival, the men at the front desk insisted on holding onto our passports for 15 minutes while we checked in, which was VERY strange. The bathroom had black mold all over and the hand held shower had mildew inside of it. We decided to get a different hotel for the rest of our trip after only being there for a few hours.

We stayed here for 8 nights. As soon as we walked through the front door we were welcomed with a smile and helping hands. The staff were amazing! Helpful beyond what I have ever experienced in any other hotel. They were one of the highlights of our Italy trip. That aside the only con to the area around the hotel is the enormous crowds at the Trevi fountain and the noise they would make all night, but please keep in mind this is out of the control of the hotel! Even though we could hear people all night we would most definitely stay there again. It is located in such a romantic spot where you can open your window and have the Trevi Fountain all to yourself from your room. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and evening drinks facing the fountain was gorgeous. The area around the hotel is safe and you can walk around at any hour of the day or night without concern. I have to conclude with this. To the staff at Hotel Fontana, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

The hotel is an older Building, my room was next to the guest bathroom and I could hear everytime someone used that bathroom. Also, I could not sleep because it smelled like sewage. The Staff was super friendly and nice, I liked the small detail of them giving us a coin to toss into the Trevi Fountain, that was a great touch. The Hotel is in a super convenient location with tons of dining and shopping options, We loved just sitting by the fountain at night and people watch, it was fun staying there.

The view is amazing. It’s an older hotel which used to be a monastery if I’m not mistaken. A lot of history. I think I heard about 20+ wedding proposals a day. It’s quite loud and you can hear outside, which we didn’t mind. The location is a hot spot of activity with tons of food within walking distance. Take a lime scooter to see the site’s. Breakfast was perfect, I need to know what coffee grounds they use for their americano. I’m obsessed!!!

I liked the location and the fact that I could see the Trevi fountain from my window. The hotel is ubicated in front of the fountain. After a few nights the noise when you open the room window begins to bore you. Because every day there are crowds all day till late at night. So if you are looking for a quiet room, this is probably not it. But if ypu don't mind the noise outside and the busy area, then it is perfect. There are several other landmarks within walking distance from the hotel. If you want to take pictures without crowds, you have to get up very early and take them before the crowds start again.

At breakfast you have a perfect view of Trevi Fountain. The building is old and quirky. Beautiful wood rafter ceilings & floor. Our bathroom was so small you could toilet, shower & wash hands in 6'. The elevator is old and slow suited for 2 close friends. People stand in the doorway for shade from the fountain, making it inconvienent when coming & going. The staff was fiendly & nice.

Location is great! That’s the best part of it! Breakfast at the top of the Hotel has an amazing view of the Trevi Fountain. There is construction going on next door room and a bit dusty upon walking through hallway- we just had to make sure we keep the door shut to keep dust away. Maybe we should have taken the upgrade room at the different floor for 50$ more a night but we didn’t really know there’d be constructions on that floor. Bathroom probably need updating because you feel like fall off because of the wall taking so much of the tub space. Taller and bigger people fall over because of the very small tub space and very narrow angled tub flooring- it’s lik le balancing act while you take shower. Despite the bathroom drawbacks. You stay infront of the Trevi Fountain with a fantastic view ans the ladies who prepare the breakfast were hands down the nicest/ accomodating staff- even made my wife small birthday gesture to our surprise! So staff and location is a definite plus plus

Fantastic service and fantastic team
Came to Rome on business and I code this hotel because of the location being close to many things, but from arrival to checkout the service and helpfulness of the staff have been outstanding throughout! The hotel is excellent for solo travellers as it is somewhere where they can feel safe. The breakfast is wonderful continental breakfast with views that many can only dream of. The room quality is superb and space is excellent with very good room services with good clean towels and replenishment of toiletries. I would definitely stay here again and the character of the hotel is wonderful.

The absolute worst. We booked purely based on location for the last night of our trip but we were so incredibly disappointed. For what we paid we expected better. It is tiny, very dated, and disgustingly dirty. The fridge, where I thought I could keep my son’s milk didn’t keep anything cold, the towel bars had been broken and the remains still on the wall (so no place to even hang a towel), the bathroom faucets were rusted, the room was coated in dust and just straight filth. I am honestly embarrassed to say we said here. Would much rather stay a short walk from Trevi (as we had earlier in this week) for a much, much better hotel. Absolutely disgusting. Oh, and, the hotel arranged our cab to the airport and it was just a standard cab they called for us. Yet, it was $75 as opposed to the posted (on all cabs) $50 rate. So, there’s an example of their service.

we apologize that our hotel style does not satisfies every your need. Our property is housed by an ancient convent of XVI century and our rooms (not so big) are totally renovated and equipped with all comfort. Airport pick up we offered is a different service of a normal cab catch on the way. The driver coming to pick up you to the airport has to park its car and come to waiting for you to the gate helping with the luggage

The best place to stay if you want to have an exclusive viewing of the Trevi. The hotel staff was very warm and friendly all through our stay. The rooms are unique and charming, telling you about the way of life back in time. Its centrally located and is walkable to other historical places and high end shops. Beautiful place overall.

Fontana Hotel has charming unique rooms. The location is awesome as we get a private viewing of the Trevi with out the crowds. The hotel staff was warm, attentive and welcoming all throughout our stay. The location is in walking distance to many other historical places. We will definitely try to stay here again.

Our room had a direct view of the Trevi. It was absolutely beautiful! The staff were incredibly nice. The hotel was a few minutes walk from the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Piazza del Popolo and the Colosseum were about 20 minutes on foot. I didn'nt mind though. Walking around Rome is the perfect was to run into a monument or historical place that you didn't even know existed. Back to the hotel, they also have a great breakfast spread every morning of cereals, coffee, coronettos, fruit and meats. All served from the 4th floor of the hotel that is open toward the fountain. If I ever happen to get the opportunity to go back to Rome. I am staying at the Fontana.
