Staying majestically above RomePosted Jun 4, 2017
Pros: Location, décor and size of the room. Very elegant.
Cons: The attitude of the restaurant staff was off-putting.
This is a beautiful hotel in the most active area of Rome. I had been in Rome for a week a few weeks earlier, and stayed at a luxury boutique hotel at the top of the Borghese. The Majestic is located at the "bottom" of the Borghese and adjacent to the heart of downtown. In that respect, the location was great for walking and getting transportation to locations within Rome. On the downside, it was very noisy outside, but with the windows and shutters closed, it was very quiet for sleeping. It was not, however, a place where you could throw open the windows. Where my stay at the Lord Byron in the weeks prior had been quietly elegant, this hotel was "over the top" in its décor and opulence. It is adjacent to many of the top large luxury hotels of Rome. Since I was just staying for a day before heading out to London, I ate in the hotel. The food was excellent, but some of the staff was aloof and not particularly friendly, which was a huge divergence from what I had experienced at the Lord Byron earlier in the month. The food at the Majestic was excellent, though a bit pricey. Dining on there outdoor terrace was noisy from the traffic below. My room itself was wonderful, very large and extremely comfortable. I would have given the hotel five stars, but the attitude of the restaurant staff was detracting.

This is a wonderful hotel with lots of character and class. The photos can't do it justice. Spacious rooms decorated with lots of style. Comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff, great food and bar, nice outdoor terrace off the restaurant. Good central location very convenient to major sites.

Excellent central location, classy buildingPosted Nov 16, 2016
Pros: The classic architecture with large rooms and tall ceilings was impressive. The décor and furnishings were an eclectic mix of modern and classic.
Cons: Too expensive for most extra items such as Breakfast, Bar, Coffee. It was half the price to visit the hotel next door for Breakfast.
Location: Location was excellent, less than 10 minutes to Trevi Fountain and 5 to Spanish steps, we even walked to the Vatican which took about 30 mins.
fantastic classic building with provenance in a superb location. Staff were very attentive and polite. Breakfast was extensive and the dining room impressive. The bar and roof terrace were relaxing with all requirements catered for in a very classy environment. The location was perfect, we were right in the thick of it and able to walk to anywhere you can think of in Rome although we did use the metro once to get to the coliseum as we were running late which was easy and cheap. Enjoyed all of the walking around the narrow cobbled streets visiting numerous piazza all furnished with impressive fountains. The Churches are everywhere, free entry and incredible to see, many of them easily rivalling and outdoing the Cistine chapel in terms of decoration and adornment. Prices for food and drink varied considerably, the tiny restaurants are every where but the ones on the smaller side streets just off the Piazza are much better value than the ones in the piazzas themselves and I think in general had more genuine atmosphere. A guide book was a good choice as Google maps struggled to locate our position a lot of the time. Gelato was divine. Lots of artists selling their high quality original paintings and they enjoy a haggle. November was a perfect time to go to avoid crowds and high temperatures. Visited Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps , Coliseum, Vatican museums, Pantheon, many other Churches and Piazzas.
