nice staff, good location, bad condition
Staff of the hotel were nice and helpful and the location was good too, but the room condition was not good. The air conditioning and heating system didn't work,so the room was cold and there was no one in the hotel to fix them. Upon our request to change the room, it was told to us that the same issue is with all the hotel's room and instead, a small heater device was given to us, which worked well. But the main issue of the room was with the dain of the bathroom. It was clogged and because of that even after a small shower, the draining water entered to the room and made there as swamp! This was something that wasn't very recent, as there were moisture print on the carpet, when we entered to the room for the first time and apparently hotel was careless to fix it.

Helpful hotel stuff. The breakfast was mediocre. The room was okay. The bathroom was not modern but clean. Takes half an hour to get from the door step to any site but it was nice to get away from extremely crowed Rome city end of the day.

Quaint boutique style hotel
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with traveling tips, recommendations, ect. They had breakfast in the courtyard, and a lounge area in the lobby. Rooms were clean and comfy w/ AC. Location was a little far from main site seeing locations but close to a bus station and in a very nice residential neighborhood. No elevator but only a couple stories high and cigarette smell upon opening front lobby door but gone once inside and no smell in rooms.

Ok hotel 10 min tube ride from town centre
Hotel was fairly easy to find from Tiburtina train station. Once we got there we had a warm welcome and were shown to our room. The toilet was constantly flushing, so they moved us to another room which was virtually next door to the Reception, so we could hear everything going on. The room was fairly clean but much smaller than I had anticipated from the photos. The flooring was rubber, which didn't feel nice to walk on barefoot. We only had 2 coat hangers in the wardrobe and when we asked for more we got 2 extras, not really enough for 2 people with clothes for 5 days. We couldn't open our window out on to the courtyard as that was the much used smoking area - thank heavens for the air con unit! Breakfast was a bit rubbish, 1 kind of cheese, 2 kinds of meat, average bread, warm yoghurts, coffee, tea and juice. The walk to the nearest tube (Barberini) was about 15 mins and was ok, as you go past a lovely bar/restaurant called Momart - good drinks prices and very good evening buffet.

Pleasant stay
Hotel was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. They assisted us with a map direction and booking a tour to the Vatican. Conveniently located close to bus stop and within walking distance to the train station. Located in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants and fruit stalls, ice-cream shops etc. The only thing is that the hotel is not within walking distance to the historic sights, but easy to get to by train or bus. Would stay there again.

Get what you pay.
Lack of information in room regarding local area, wi-fi, hotel operator or any room service available. Could do with small kettle for tea/coffee. Machine tea, cups too small and expensive.limited choice of breakfast. Buses too far to walk with laugage. Nice local resturant. Few handy local shops and caffeteria to explore. Friendly staff and management. Shower room wooden frame work poor.

Not Ideal for Disabled Travelers, Far from Vatican
When I booked with expedia I requested a hotel close to Vatican Prati., and a hotel that has a lift/elevator as I explained my mother was in a wheelchair. They said it had a lift. Only to find out that there was no elevator but the room assigned to us for our 6 nites was on the third floor. After 2 nites on the third floor we were transferred to the second floor. Still about 24 steps very steep. It was way very far from vatican as whatever you saved on the hotel rates the cost of the taxi going back and forth was very expensive. Not ideal if you are travelling with a disabled person.

Osimar
Osimar Hotel is hard to find. Osimar Hotel website does not give you a clear instruction to get to the hotel from the airport. The website says they are close to Roma Tiburtina station but apparently not. It is about 20 to 30 min walk. As soon as we got to Tiburtina station we ask around to figure out how to get to the hotel and nobody seems to know where it is at. One person told me to go back to Termini which im glad we didnt do or it would have been even more impossible to find the hotel. I would recommend calling them first the day before your reservation to get a clear direction to the hotel. The hotel is about 15 to 20 min to Bologna Metro train station, which will take you to pretty much all the tourist attractions in Rome. Osimar is in the outskirts of rome. it is about 20 min to the Vatican and about 10 to 15 to the Colloseum. Breakfast was provided but not the greatest. They have about 3 different kinds of bread, one kind of cereal, ham, cheese and some spread. The coffee machine does not work and their coffee taste like mud. There are restaurants around the hotel which is nice and there is a convenient store if you want to buy some stuff. Overall it is ok but would have prefer something closer to the city attraction and train station.

Great value for Rome
The staff was excellent helping us with parking, information on getting to the Metro and medical clinic. The room was comfortable, clean (a few marks on the lower walls from luggage) and quiet. It's a bit odd that the air conditioning is controlled from the front desk but no problem. Breakfast was very adequate with lots of choices. In a few minutes walk, we were at the Metro. The bus into the center of Rome is only one block away. A really great hotel for the price.

Not too bad, not too great. Fair.
I brought my mom and fiance, along with another friend and his wife to this hotel. We travelled from Vicenza via the autostrada to Rome, which is about 5 hours. The traffic as insane and this hotel has very little parking.. so don't drive! It is reasonably close to the metro, if you don't mind walking about 20-30 minutes and are capable of reading a map. I'm sure you can find better, and closer to the metro, or bus line. This one seemed out of the way in the ghetto a bit. Doesn't usually worry me, but travelling with a few new to Europe.. probably not the best option. The price was reasonable for 2 nights, and the beds are a problem as they push 2 full sized to make one 'queen' size. But besides that, the room was comfortable for the little time we spent in it, and the staff spoke english and are polite. The breakfast was every morning and is included, so they serve cold cuts, muffins, and croissants with nutella. Along with cafe and other drinks, in a section off from the front desk. They do make you leave your key at the desk when you head into the city, which is kind of nice because it prevents you from losing it. At all accounts, it was fair and easy.

Its more of a Bed and Breakfast than hotel. Staff very helpful, breakfast satisfactory. Good bus routes to centre as about 5km out of main centre. Nice cheaper resturant around the area far better than paying expensive over priced in the centre.

Happy with our choice
I did a lot of research before we visited Rome, we were on a budget and found that Osimar Hotel is good value and one of the nearest to a metro station with in our price range. It takes 10-15 minutes walk to get to the metro but there is a bus which we took a couple of time just around the corner (this takes a couple of minutes). I have read lots of negative reviews about the hotel, some stating that the photos look nothing like the real thing- these are completly untrue, the photos look as the hotel does today. If anything the photos do not do the hotel justice, it looks a bit old fasioned but actually feels very modern when you are there. Their use of very dark furniture everywhere gives the rooms a slighly gloomy feeling but it didnt put us off. The hotel was exceptionally clean, our bed was made each morning. Breakfast was excellent, again I have read some negative reviews but we enjoyed it. Drinks- tea, coffee (many varieties), juice, milk and water. Food- cerals, cheese, ham salami, beautiful fresh bread rolls, a choice of spreads (nutella, honey). Staff were very helpful in telling us where to eat locally and the best way to get to certain places- they also provide you with a map which we found very useful through out our stay. Overall we would recommend this hotel, if you dont mind a short walk and you expect cleanliness along with a helpful service but do not expect a full English breakfast!

Won't be going back
The hotel is in a remote location; about 15 minutes walk from a metro station although a bus, when you find it, does go closer. The area is very quiet at the weekend and cannot be relied upon for a choice of restaurants etc; the nearby supermarket is closed on Sunday but does not advertise this. The room was OK but lacked things like bedside tables and glasses in the bathroom. The air conditioning made no impact on Rome heat of 25 degrees. The service was poor - when the cups from our travel kettle disappeared after our room was cleaned, it took too much time and argument for the hotel to do the right thing.

Osimar Hotel Rome-not worth it
It is so hard to find this hotel. Taxi and bus driver do not know where the street is. Some rooms will have smell of mold, so ask to be moved to another one. No elevator as well. Breakfast is not good at all. Limited selection, stale bread, coffee, capuccino made from one of those automatic coffee maker. It is a 15 minute walk from the Plaza Bologna metro if you decide to take your chances. If you take the bus, the stop is Gorgi coming from Rome. But you have to pay attention as the buses don't tell you the name of the streets when they stop. This hotel is not conveniently located to the main attractions of Rome.

The hotel was clean, good size, free good internet if using cable connection (very week wireless). Staff tried to help and provided a map showing the Metro stations & attractions but the hotel is 1.5km walk to Bologna Metro. We later found the stops for buses 542 and 61 (also go to Bologna Metro station) about 0.5km from hotel. L'Event shows bus routes. The same ticket can be used on bus and Metro 1 euro for 75 minutes or 4 euros a day TV was hard to operate, we could not find an English speaking channel for news Breakfast was Ok but no fresh fruit, cornflakes may be better kept fresh in a sealed container. We were asked to pay 12 euros for local tax at check out but believed that all tax had been paid when booked through hotelclub.com

Keep a copy of the Hotel map for the Cabdriver. We were turned down by several cab drivers that didn't know where the Hotel was located even with the map. Be sure to show the map to the Cabdriver before getting in. However, once found, the Osimar was a great place to stay if you're looking for a small boutique Hotel in a quite neighborhood. The room was small but very clean and the bathroom was good size. The Staff, especially the day and night time Gentlemen that worked were terrific to deal with. Very helpful with directions and were even able to sell us Bus passes in advance. Breakfast was great, would recommend the Osimar!!

Very good trip to Rome
The hotel was perfectly fine-clean, with tv and good sized rooms and bathroom. Good breakfast and nice patio area outside to eat too. Located in a good area too with cheap restaurants around if you want. Not too bad t get into the centre. 10 minute walk to Piazza Bologna subway and only about 7 minutes to get to the centre. We were a party of 5, two seniors, and a little 2 year old. The hotel was fine for all and on the last day we didn't have to check out until 12 midday and could leave all luggage until we left at 5pm. Staff all multilingual. Would recommend the Japanese restaurant just around the corner (I know not Italian but nice to have a break from pasta) and the supermarket a couple of blocks up was very useful.

the hotel is far enough away from the center of Rome that you have to take the subway. the neighborhoods are questionable. the desk clerks are unfriendly, with the exception of one, and once you check out, they really do not want to deal with you at all. our shuttle service was 40 min late coming to pick us up to go back to the airport and i went in to ask the desk clerk if i could please use the phone to call the shuttle service. i had to practically beg him. they lock the doors at night so if you are out late, you have to pound on the door and hope someone hears you to let you in. it was clean, the breakfast was good. but i would never stay there again and i would not recommend this hotel.

Average Hotel Not Conveniently Located
The hotel has only very basic amenities. The elevator was being repaired when we arrived so we had to take our heavy suitcases up the stairs. The bedroom was very small not much room to move around, not much of a view either from the windows. The shower area was very tiny. The hotel is a little out of the way, they tell you to take 61 bus but we never found the bus. The quickest way to get to city center is to walk 10 min to Nomentana and take 90 express to Termini train station and then take a metro, or walk 15 min to Bologna. Metro stops around midnight so the only way to get back is night bus n4 or taxi. The free breakfast is very limited, no eggs.

Osimar Hotel---good price & condition, but far
For not knowing anything about the hotel, I was very pleased. It is on the outskirts of Rome and a hike from the Metro station. If my suitcase would have not been 2 tons I would have been fine. The heavy suitcase made my hike miserable. If you know how to use the metro system, then you can get to the famous sights and attractions with no problem. It took about 20 minutes to ride the bus and metro to the famous sights.

Osimar Hotel, Rome. Excellent!
Decided to stay here based on the remarks left on this website. This is a genuine 3* hotel. It is not in the heart of the city (10-15 min walk NE from Bologna Metro station) but it is remarkably good value for such a well maintained hotel. The number 61 bus stops on Via Rudolph Lanciani, about 3 mins away from the hotel. this is useful if you want to take the bus into the city centre rather than walk to Bologna Metro. Nomentana Rail station is a good 15-20 minutes walk away from the hotel. You may choose this if you come in from Fiumencino Airport, as this is on the same line, meaning you do not need to worry about changing trains and losing your bearings. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential street, surrounded by apartments. It is not on the main road and as such it is lovely and quiet. There is a municipal swimming pool next door. The main impression from from walking into the lobby is of a very smart, modern hotel. It is clearly well kept and maintained. The small dining area for breakfast has an outside terrace attached for al fresco breakfasts (continental style: ham and cheese, rolls, yoghurts, juice, coffee). The rooms are generously sized, very very clean and well maintained. The double I stayed in had a huge bed. The walls and carpets and bedding are all very clean. the bathroom also is excellent, with a good shower (no bath) and bidet. The room has airconditioning (a must!) - you may need to ask at reception to switch it on when you arrive. Also a TV which has cable (BBC World) and a mini fridge too. Having stayed in Milan before in a supposedly 3* hotel and was extremely disappointed for its shabbiness and poor maintenance, it would seem this hotel is keen to buck the trend. I would stay here again without hesitation.

"Decent hotel, terrible location"
The Osimar Hotel was in Rome, however the map was wrong on the hotel website. It is nowhere near any attractions and it is a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro station. There is a bus station nearby, however, the bus only goes by that stop on the way into the city, not on the way back. The rooms were clean and average size for Europe (on the smaller side). Staff was very helpful and spoke English. They had a great buffet breakfast (cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cappachinos, coffe, juice, etc) that was included in our stay which helped us save some money. If you are comfortable walking around in a foreign city in a non-tourist area, this hotel may be a good fit for you.
