This hotel is a budget option. Once we checked in, the room was 32*C (90*F). The room was dirty, fridge had mold, phone was broken, toilet seat was broken/cracked. Limited options in the area. Bus/metro into the city took 1 hours. Taxi into/out of the city was ~$30. It's worth spending the money to be closer to the city, as you will spend the money on transportation anyway.

Way too far that it cost so much to ride a taxi. I don't find the staff friendly at all, except with the young lady. In general they lack the warm and welcoming approach to customer service. It appears more likely speaking with a robot, a person with no emotion, they don't smile at all. Elevator is too small, slow, not to mention i have to go down almost everyday for them to fix may door card that most of the time fails to work. After check-in they gave our room to another guests by mistake, good thing were about to leave and those guest asked by surprised. The fridge in the room is empty. No phone directory in the room. No cart for luggages. Tv's old, just italian channels. Smell of the drainage at the front entrance is aweful/disgusting. The building looks creepy, I find the pics in expedia website deceiving. Nevertheless, the hotel/room smells and looks clean from the inside, that's for me is excellent. Their shower hot/cold is great. Air condition is fantastic for the hot weather. If you are someone who comes with a car, this is the best place I would recommend, but if you rely on public transpo, this is the worst when it comes to location, that is just my opinion. Overall, after staying for 3 nights, I would rate this hotel 3.5 / 5 stars

I read some bad reviews for here after booking so was a bit worried, however none of the issues stated were even remotely a problem for us! AC worked awesome entire time (and it was hot in Italy), plumbing was never an issue, staff were very nice to work with. The lobby bar is awesome! The area is a suburb of Rome so it's very quiet and low traffic, the hotel itself actually sits down beside an old farm. It is about a 10min drive to get to get to pretty much evey attraction in Rome but I prefer that over staying in the heart of everything. There is a supermarket and a few restaurants a couple min away walking. Nice, free parking garage under the hotel with an elevator running down to it. All & all a very nice place to stay if you enjoy the quiet!

Initially had problems with the room..The staff was kind, but our room didn't have a working a/c. After calling the front desk and speaking with them in person, we were told that they had to turn it on for us. After waiting an hour, the air still wasn't on, so went back to ask about it. They said they would send someone down in 10 mins to fix it, but 30 mins later there was no one and no air. After going down again, they temporarily solved the problem by giving us a fan and promising a room change the next day. Considering the heat wave and soaring temperatures comfort wasn't the best that night, but after moving to a different room, we had no issues with the room. The bed was comfortable too. Although hotels.com states the beds are king size, this hotel doesn't provide king size at all. They mostly push 2 beds together to make a queen. Even with that, the bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful. The hotel has a bus stop nearby that takes you straight to the main bus termianl and train station so no complaints there. However be mindful that the busses have a tendency to be delayed. Overall a great experience.

My husband and were visiting Italy for our honeymoon we chose this property because we have stayed at other Barcelo resorts in other countries and had good experiences. The staff was very friendly and the location was excellent but the rooms were very disappointing. Our first room had very bad warer damage and particles from the ceiling were falling down onto the floor. In the shower the ceiling was covered in black mold. (i have pictures of this as well please contact me to submit them. Because we had busy sigtseeing schedule we werent able to change rooms till the 3rd day of our stay. The room we were moved too the toilet did not flush, the front desk sent someone up to "fix it" 3 times it still did not flush properly we got tired of asking it to be fixed and had to go down to the lobby to use the restroom for the duration of our stay. Since this was our honeymoon we really hoped to relax and sight see and not have to deal with contiunious room issues. It was very disappointing and not how I pictured our honeymoon stay. The property has a lot of potential but i just feel the upkeep isn't being maintained. We were very disappointed especially because we've had so many great experiences with Barcelo properties in the past.

Avoid at all costs!!!
The AC didn’t work and the shower didn’t drain properly. The bathroom would then potentially flood and the backed up water seemed to be more than we were contributing and was gross. The end result was that we stopped trying to shower. This is unacceptable after exploring a very hot Rome all day. The front desk didn’t care at all. They refused or were unable to move us to another suite so we said we would take smaller rooms and they wouldn’t do that either. The front desk controls your AC and would just say they were setting it colder. We asked them to come to our room and see how hot it was and they refused. Busses and tours poor in and out of this hotel constantly. Consequently, you’re treated like cattle instead of guests. Avoid at all costs!

Don’t stay here if your not willing to stay just anywhere. Dirty is an understatement. The building has major plumbing issues. Shower won’t drain and toilets won’t flush. The property is far from any of the attractions and hidden within a residential area. I would not recommend this hotel.

The room was small, there was poor ventilation, the toilet never flushed properly, the shower drained extremely slow and was dirty upon arrival and cleaned only twice, several employees were outright rude. I arrived at 10 am and was told I had to wait until 2pm to check in so we had to sit in the lobby for 4 hours after traveling for 15 hours and only was able to check in at 1:45pm because I noticed a couple being checked in after asking them at 1:30 if I could check in and being told I had to continue to wait. I checked out on the 25th and asked for a receipt and was told by Andrea that he couldnt give me any money back, which I didn't even ask for, and still didn't get the receipt.

I was pleased with the property and the comfort of my room as well as the breakfast and dinner services. However, I was not able to workout in the gym room because it was extremely cold. When I brought this to the attention of the representative at the front desk she told me that there was nothing she could do about that. There was no attempt to contact a maintenance person nor an interest in addressing my need to workout. I felt very dismissed and unheard. I usually work out 4days per week. I spent 9days at Occidental and was not able to work out at all.

Hotel is close to bus stops so getting around is easy with public transport. Had issues with the toilet and we had to use the bin to get more water into as the toilet just would not flush properly. We raised this with reception and the maintenance guy did the exact same, so plumbing issue not fixed and we were not even offered to be moved to another room. Because of this I would not recommend this hotel in particular.

The registration staff was helpful. However housekeeping was horrible, when they did clean the room well, they often didn’t empty the trash, or really make up the beds, they just pull the covers up over the wrinkled bed. It’s a little distant from most of the major attractions, so allow yourself some extra time and money for taxis buses and or metro rides. The AC wasn’t working, there was a roof leak in the middle of the floor in the hallway. The elevator wasn’t working. I can’t recommend this hotel.

Very friendly and helpful hotel employees, very clean, restaurant on the 7th floor, wonderful restaurant with great buffett breakfast, only six minutes walk to the bus stop (fermata) to take bus 721 and 762 to Laurentina subway (Metro) station. Relaxing environment with nice bird songs. I will stay there if I get the chance again
