Good hotel in RomePosted Aug 21, 2015
Pros: The staff who were friendly, the breakfast, the room and the shuttle into Flaminio was a nice touch.
Cons: All staff to be friendly, not just some.
Location: Nearest bus stop is Euclide and the train station is also Euclide. One stop on the train takes you to Flaminio which is close to many shops.
The hotel was a little bit difficult to find at first but it is quite close to a bus route. Some of the staff were extremely friendly, some a little too quiet! One of the men who drives the shuttle bus was great and really made us feel welcome as did one of the men who manned the front desk. But the others that were on different shifts barely spoke. The hotel itself was lovely, breakfast was great, room very comfortable and a good size.

Nice hotel close to Rome attractionsPosted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: The neighborhood, the local grocery store, we got water so we didn't have to pay the outrageous mini bar costs, close to the Metro, breakfast, staff.
Cons: Thermostats that work, softer sheets.
Location: Close to the Piazza del Populo, from where you can go into the heart of Rome, the Borghese Museum and gardens, the Metro
This will be the second review of the Duke Hotel, we stayed there last May. We had a pleasant room, could never adjust the room temperature, however, and it was warm during the day. I tried to lower the outdoor shade, but was unable to do it. The sheets were stiff, as in too much starch, but the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the place was clean. I will say I thought it unusual that they had no real facecloths available, but provided a towel instead. Strange. We had wonderful breakfast which was provided with our room. Good coffee, soft eggs, even to the bottom of the pan, good pastries and lots of great fruit and juices. There was even champagne! Good breakfasts. We ate dinner there once, but were disappointed because the sirloin we both wanted was unavailable and apparently was removed from the next day's menu. But my husband had lamb which he pronounced as very good and I had veal, which was just a tad dry, but had good taste. The shuttle we wanted to take one day was unavailable, but we could get the 5 pm shuttle. So we learned how to use the Metro instead, and got around quite easily. The metro station was fairly close and a nice walk, and we got to our location is a very short time. would highly recommend using the Metro if you wanted to explore outside the Vatican. The Duke is a very fine hotel, a few shortcomings or disappointments this trip, but it wouldn't prevent us from staying there again. I like the neighborhood too.

Nice hotel, location is far from centerPosted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Great staff, great breakfast. Super clean, comfortable rooms.
Cons: Early check in should be available. We came in from a 8hr flight at 7:30am, got to the hotel around 9 am, and our room was not ready until 1pm
Location: Not much.
This hotel was great. It is located a bit far fro the center of the city, but they have a mini van that drops you off every 30 minutes. It only seats six people so make sure you make a seat reservation. Quiet neighborhood. Very clean hotel, friendly staff, spacious rooms. Comfortable overall. The breakfast is great as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend the daytime in the craziness of the city center and then go back to a quiet neighborhood to sleep. There is not much around the hotel, but the center is so accessible that the location being a bit far is not a big issue. It's like a 10mn cab ride down (around 12 euros to go into the city).

Broken Foot and the Duke Hotel saved the dayPosted Jun 1, 2015 on Hotels
Our first room was a standard very small room. I had broken my foot in Florence and was in a cast, so the second night I asked to be moved to a room with a bathtub so I could take a bath and wash my hair. The room was much nicer. The last day we were there, the wonderful hotel desk man (Name starts with an M?) helped me by calling pharmacies and locating a boot for my foot. Then calling me a cab to take me straight there. He saved my trip! I was then able to make the 11 night cruise from there. The breakfasts were very good too!

The Duke, RomPosted May 19, 2015 on Hotels
Sehr guter Service, sehr zuvorkommenend. Wir koennen das Hotel weiter empfehlen. In einer ruhigen Wohngegend gelegen; es gibt keine Restaurants in der Naehe, aber nachdem das Hotel das Shuttle zum Zentrum anbietet, ist das absolut kein Problem.

Older hotel in grand stylePosted May 9, 2015
Pros: Nice large bathroom. The room itself was small but adequate. Very nice public spaces, and there was an excellent breakfast buffet.
Cons: Have the shuttle available more often. Also, there could be an airport shuttle or suggestions on how to reach hotel. We had to figure it out.
Location: A couple of restaurants withing walking distance.
This was just a one-night stopover after arriving by plane, and we were generally pleased with the facility. We arrived in late afternoon, but we couldn't use the shuttle into town because it was already booked for decent times, which was disappointing.

Really nice hotel just outside city centrePosted May 7, 2015
Pros: Overall friendly atmosphere. Typical Italian style and clean, spacious rooms. Good price for its location.
Cons: Fresh juices for breakfast.
Comfortable hotel with really nice and friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable against a reasonable price. Good beds and overall cleanliness is very good. The elevators are small and a bit wobbly, but you should be walking the stairs anyway... The breakfast is adequate, but not great. Esp. if you're in for an english breakfast it is rather basic. Lots of dolce however. Unfortunately not fresh juices, but good coffee. The hotel is quiet and situated in a residential neighboorhood north of the city center. Just north of Borghese Park and Villa Borghese. About 20 min walking to Piazza del Popolo. The hotel has a free shuttle service between 8am and midnight every 15-30 min back and forth to the Piazza. From there you can walk the entire center. Colloseum in the south is about 40 min walk from Piazza del Popolo. Vatican is 20 min. A taxi from the ccity center back to the hotel is around 10 euros.

Hôtel à l'accueil somptueux dans quartier calme.Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: La décoration, le calme et le petit déjeuner. La disponibilité du personnel à l'accueil.
Cons: La literie : matelas trop ferme et oreillers moyens, une couette aurait été la bienvenue. Bruit de climatisation venant d'une autre chambre;
