Shower didn't work and no one seemed to care

Posted Sep 11, 2017
The shower wasn't working- water only coming out of a few holes in the middle. We informed front desk staff we were checking out a day early because the shower wasn't working . Because we were all paid up on Expedia, it didn't seem to matter to anyone. Woman said, "Oh, ok". Didn't apologize or ask why. My husband suggested they might want to fix the shower. Woman said, " Yeah, we should..."

relaxing stay

Posted Sep 10, 2017
Cons: interior of cabooses need upgrading, floors especially
The area is lovely, bring the kids they won't be bored. There's a little train, buggy rides, a toy train museum. From the tower you can see much countryside. The food is good and reasonably priced, bed comfy, and the Strasburg railroad is nearby. The cabooses have tight quarters much like camping in an rv, but we didn't spend much time inside anyway. They definitely need some upgrading but that didn't really spoil our stay, We are happy for the memory.

very unique motel

Pros: character of the motel and the train cars
decided to do something different this year! chose this absolutely cute hotel. I'm glad I did! If your child loves trains especially you must stay here! Come before dark so kids can run and see everything the excitement can be in an over load. property in neat and clean. tips: bring over night bags NOT laugage. You will end up getting clothes out of your car much easier. the rooms are very very small. you open the door put one foot in and fall on the bad lol. you can spend a whole day in or near the property bring cash there is a buggy ride you choose how long or short they show you working farms and animals and you stop at a small Amish store for snacks. need cash here a train museum next property bbq on the property play ground movie night in the barn 4 miles away is the strasburg train 45 min rides and museum a must do.

Unique Experience

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Pros: The friendly personnel, good food served in a orig. dining car. Gift shop was full of railroad toys and running trains in a layout that was fun .
Cons: Nothing-looking forward to returning maybe for Holiday-shopping at local outlets.
Location: Great food-Miller's, Good and Plenty with many other restaurants. We watched the farmers gathering their crops in the field. Hot air balooning.Outlets
We had seen the Red Caboose Motel years ago on a visit to Lancaster and said if ever we had the chance to stay-well we did and enjoyed the whole experience in person. 40+ caboose comprise the motel each from a different railroad line-basic accomodations but never the less interesting to say you slept in a caboose. We had a local community band playing for 2 hours-wonderful tunes for all to enjoy, watching the sun set-nice touch.

Unique place to stay!

Posted Aug 28, 2017
Pros: Truly unique experience. Love the trains!!!
Cons: Rooms are in desperate need of updating. Very old & tired.
Location: Cherry Crest Adventure Farm. PA Renaissance Fair.
We spent a few days at the Red Caboose. It was really cool and unique. The staff was very friendly and there are lots of activities to do. The smell from the farm can be overbearing outside at times, so if you don't love the farm smell, you should reconsider coming here.

Hi Bill. Thank you for staying with us. Your comment about the "Smell from the farm can be overbearing outside at times" made me smile. It's one of the things that makes Amish country a special place to stay. Most of the cabooses on the property are nearly 100 years old and as such, yes, they do need TLC. We've already renovated a handful and will be doing more once we close for the winter in January (re-opening first weekend in March). In the brief 18 months we've owned the property we have already made a big impact on the aesthetics. Be sure to come back and visit again soon to see the continued changes. All aboard! Tyler Prickett

Cute place but had issues

Posted Aug 23, 2017
3 out of 5 of us left there with head lice. I can't say that's where it came from but we didn't have it before going there. Our room smelled bad, they did come to check out the smell and offered to move our room. The maid came while we were gone and made 1 out of 4 beds only.

Valued Guest, I am sorry to hear about your head lice issue. We take cleanliness very seriously so I would ask that you advise the Front Desk what room you stayed in so that it can be thoroughly checked. We have not received any other reports like this which leads me to believe it is an isolated issue. Regardless, we don't take reports like this lightly. Thank you for staying with us. We hope to serve you and your family again soon. All aboard, Tyler D. Prickett Proprietor & General Manager Red Caboose Motel
