Such a unique and awesome place to stay.

Posted Apr 16, 2017
We loved our stay here the staff was so friendly and the place was so neat and tidy. The caboose was very comfortable and clean and so fun to sleep in. They even showed a movie in the barn for everyone to watch. Such a great place for kids. The restaurant in the diner train car was wonderful and the food was very good too. Loved the idea of eating in a train car very cool. Would definitely come back to stay again.

It is our second time going to the red caboose and it is always a lot of fun! They did movie nights at the barn that it was great!! The cabooses are being renovated and I can't wait to go back again with our 3 boys next year!

This is about a train experience....

Posted Mar 5, 2017
This hotel is all about the experience of staying in a train caboose. Train cabooses are small, when compared to a hotel room, without amy of the luxuries that more space can provide. Hotel staff is very nice and try hard to accommodate. Dining car restaurant is great - good food, good service, nice and close. Cabooses are old and, in an age where tiny living is becoming more commonplace, have not been cleverly converted to a rental space. Very little room for storage or luggage or moving around - dated decor and fixtures. Bed in first caboose, 3N, was very comfortable, but hot water was not working, so we were given caboose 26 instead. Bed in 26 was pretty bad and didn't provide for a good night's sleep. Overall, glad I checked it out. The grounds are conventionally located near attractions and offered restaurant, gift shop, and petting zoo. I can now officially say that I stayed in a train. Hope that the new owners, who just took ownership in February of 2017, continue to renovate and improve the rooms.

Great family stay!

Posted Jan 3, 2017 on Hotels
We were very impressed with our recent stay here! The motel and restaurant staff were all very friendly and informative! The location is great - very close to the Strasburg train activities and a short drive to Lancaster. There were also plenty of activities on site, including a playground, amish buggy rides, petting zoo, arcade, movies, gift shop and restaurant. We could tell that the rooms have been recently updated and the heat worked well during a very cold weekend. We can't wait to visit again in the spring!

Sleep In A Train

Posted Jan 2, 2017 on Hotels
Sleeping in a train is very different from your traditional motel/hotel room. If you rent a half caboose, they are small but comfy. There are full cabooses for families or suites. Some caboose windows do not open if you want fresh air. There is no pool but onsite there are: buggy rides, eat on a real train, ice cream caboose, game room, large deck with kiddy rides and a piano that plays by itself, picnic tables and bbqs, area to watch the Strasburg Rail Railroad pass the motel, feed the animals, vending machines and free ice, park next to your caboose, an old silo where you can walk to the top and watch the beautiful views, nightly free movies ( in the summer they are outdoors, in the winter the movies are in the barn and it's cold). The area is very safe and is surrounded by real Amish farmlands. Amish buggies pass the motel all throughout the day and night. You can walk the grounds any time of the day and feel safe.

disappointing

The room was tiny. The first room had an electric heater that needed to be plugged in and the controls were not easy to see. The second room had a heater in the wall that was extremely noisy and was either too hot or too cold. There were no drawers to put clothes in. there were several hooks and a shelf. We would never go back

Fun fun fun

I loved the whole set up. Alittle dated but come on you are staying in a train car! All the comforts are there. Staff was so nice, funny and cool. Abby in Casey Jones clubcar restaurant, was really sweet and helpful on where to go for good shopping and gave us a good laughs.

Pros: Unique and fun.
Cons: Storage hooks for clothes. Bath matts.
Location: Close to everything. Shopping, tourist stuff.
The whole experience was fun. The dining car had exceptional food and service. Lots to do right on the property with a barn with movies and a sylo that had an observation area. They even had a petting zoo and buggy rides.

KIDS ENJOYMENT

Posted Dec 5, 2016
Location: The Surrounding areas near here include the Strasburg Railroad and museum. the motel has a restaurant in RR dining car decor and excellent food.
Staying in one of the Caboose cars is an exceptionally enjoyable experience when you have your 3 and 7 year old grandchildren with you. it is unbelievable how the owners of this motel have decorated the insides of these cars for an enjoyable experience with comfortable beds, showers, microwave and mini refrigerators in each car, plus cable television with many channels for all to enjoy. Just the excitement of our grand kids was the highlight of this night.
