Good value for the money

Posted Jan 17, 2018
Pros: The all inclusive food and beverage service
Cons: It is an older property that is showing its age.
Location: It is a bit far from the center of Montego Bay, although we used it as a base for traveling to Kingston, Port Royal and Falmouth.
This Holiday Inn Resort has an average breakfast buffet, but good variety. Its dinner buffet is basic and lacks a wide choice of selections. It has a very good Italian restaurant and the bar menu is good. It is very noisy from the entertainment around the pool area during lunch and dinner and at night, making it difficult to sleep if you are in a room nearby. The reception staff is very friendly and helpful.

Dated hotel but still quite nice

Posted Jan 16, 2018
Pros: The island, pool, snorkeling (amazing by the piers!), friendly staff, small so easy to get around
Cons: Hotel is very dated and rooms are SUPER small. Noise level by the main pool is a little over-the-top.
Location: Not much!
Staff was wonderful--friendly and accommodating. The hotel is quite dated, though, and needs to be modernized! The standard, garden room beds are very small--full sized--as is the room. Free WiFi works about 50% of the time--more by the pool than in the rooms. Dining is nice, but expect to wait for coffee in the morning at the main buffet. It's not self-serve and they RARELY come around. Drinks are decent and the pool and ocean are nice. However, the pool and hot tubs close at 6pm and don't open until 9am!! Blocks of rooms near the main building are convenient but VERY loud until 1 or 2am! Adults-only area is pretty lame and looks like it was designed in the 50's. Trips into town are about $60 USD r/t unless you take the free shuttle to Margaritaville, but that is only offered at night between around 10pm-2am. Lots of people from all over stay there, though, which is nice--including lots of locals. Just need to think about guest services and updating some things and it would be great! Snorkeling by the two piers was like swimming in an aquarium--GREAT! Food is blah--even at the "fancy" restaurants, but there is a lot to choose from--although it is pretty much the same every day.

Great island getaway

Posted Jan 11, 2018
Clean comfortable room, everything worked. An okay ocean view from balcony. Plenty of hot water and good service. All inclusive restaurants were excellent... atmosphere, food, presentation, service! You couldn't ask for more but they would try if you did!!! Great pools, lovely beach and cute little island for snorkeling. Great entertainment!!! We had some favorites. Fabulous family place. Very friendly staff, you'll enjoy Therons daytime activities , Kevin's drinks, Christopher's cumin scented fish and Mike's jerk chicken, just to name a few.

Ok

The overall experience was ok. Staff need to be more professional. Food was somewhat good on some days. Room cleaning was not the best.

Close to the airport

Posted Jan 5, 2018
Pros: Everything, the scenery, location and the food
Cons: Just a little renovation but nothing crazy
Location: Location was fantastic!!
I have to say that this hotel is excellent!! I was there with my fiancé for 2 days and it was fantastic. The food variety was spectacular, not only that they are good cooks. They definitely take care of their guests. Kudos to the manager..I forgot his name. Everything was great, I had a minor issue with seeing hair on my towel, but it was quickly fixed.

Noisy!!!!

Posted Jan 2, 2018
The food was very good and plentiful, the beach lovely, and the guest services staff responsive when called upon. But, the noise level in the common dining hall was awful and it was difficult tomget wait service because of the crowds. The wing of the hotel that my room was in had plumbing problems and every time someone turned on the hot water the pipes sounded like a ships horn going off for the duration. In the mornings with people showering it was incessant and impossible to sleep through. Tthe staff told me it was because of Jamaican water pressure problems and not a hotel problem, but, regardless, it was a BIG problem. The sliding door to my room appeared to be broken, but a very responsive and helpful maintenance person, Teryl, put that to rights. The air conditioner sounded like a jet plane taking off. And, possibly a plus for others, but not for me was the non-stop entertainment which made it impossible to find quiet in the public spaces either. I have nothing to compare the Holiday Inn Montego Bay to, but I would not return.

Ok for families

Posted Dec 29, 2017
Pros: Close to the airport
Cons: Hire more staff; remodel some heavily used rooms
Location: Going on a tour of Montego Bay is a must. The Dunns River Falls is a common spot, but I must warn about the staff being aggressive about tips.
This resort is probably ok for those vacationing with a family, but not for those without one. While there is an adult only area and pool, all other areas of the resort, including dining, will be overrun by children. There was a crying baby at every meal and small children running everywhere, all "sugar high" on the fruit punch served at every drink station. The rooms were relatively clean, but definitely showed a lot of use. The staff was nice, but I heard that there was a lot of staff turnover and many stations were understaffed. Shout out to the girl at the Jerk Hut who handled both the jerk chicken service and the bar service by herself! They need more staff in some places.

Great spot for families

Posted Dec 23, 2017
Pros: Beaches and pool were excellent
Cons: Building 6 pipes rattle from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. while people showered - made for a rude awakening!
Location: 10 mins to Sangster Airport is convenient - close to Doctor's Cove and all tours in the Ochos Rios, Montego Bay and Negril area.
We went to Holiday Inn after a bust experience at a local AirBNB. The facility is older, but it has everything needed for a superb family vacation. We were in the area and allowed to come to the hotel and check in to use the grounds before our luggage could be brought to the room. We were so pleased about that, and were upgraded to a suite to accommodate our older children. While the bathroom was small and pipes rattled in Building 6, everything else was superb and the room was cleaned promptly daily. Food was fresh and good daily variety; the beaches are fantastic and no problem getting chairs; excellent variety of food stations around the grounds; and activities throughout the day for the kids. All of the staff were excellent. Good job Holiday Inn Montego Bay!

Pros: Most of the staff were wonderful to work with
This hotel is pricey for what is offered. Food choices were just okay. Need more staff on board. Rooms were outdated, came back to a leaking floor every day. Temperature of room was either too cold or too humid. Entire hotel outdated
