Home away from home

You can see geyser from the motel. The lady who owns it is very nice and helped us a lot with every thing we needed. It is close to the town center. We got a 2 bedrooms unit for 4 adults and 3 kids. It was great to stay there.

All of the staff at Pohutu Lodge Motel aim to be as helpful as possible. The motel is a great facility for families to stay with the two separate bedrooms and the reserve just next door, thank you for your kind response.

Really nice motel next to the Pohutu geyser.

This is a very nice motel but it's not safe for small children. There is no safety latch on the upstairs window and no chain on the front door. The door is easy for children to unlock and open to walk outside.

Glad you enjoyed your time here. Not sure about the window thing but will definitley consider it. As it not been mentioned before probably need to get some other parents thoughts on it before taking away the access to good air flow but thanks for the opinion.

Bring that dog back anytime. You should teach him to ride though.

Pros: Affordable
Affordable accommodation with friendly staff. However a number unfortunate experiences occurred while we stayed such as heating the rooms took a very long time and we were cold the evening we arrived, cleaning staff entered our bedroom unannounced whilst we were sleeping in in the morning, had a cockroach crawl over my head whilst lying in bed and had to have a cold shower one morning as water heating had turned off.

we regret you had a bad experiance. With regard the cockroach we fumigate our rooms regularly for all insects etc if one came in it is a very rare occurance. Staff always declare their presence when servicing a room. On this occasion they may not have been heard.

Was good price for the type of rooms we were after

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Price
Cons: Better sound proofing
Location: It was close enough to town centre which was good.
Was good price for the type of rooms we were after for 5 adults but unfortunately it was situated near a main road and so was a bit noisy over night.

We are pleased you liked the room, thanks for that. Be pleased you weren,t in Fenton St the main motel road as the road noise is a whole lot worse.

Pros: Nice character, lots of space, quiet location, patio garden, free look at the geyser.
This is a great place if you have a family or enjoy extra space as a couple. The in-room kitchen facilities are a plus if you prefer self catering. You can also have a look at the geyser for free. The room was very clean and has a nice character; like a cabin. It's also in a quiet location and the little patio garden is nice. Highly recommended.

Good, economical, comfortable motel to stay.

Location: The Event Centre was a great venue for the conference I was at. The facilities provided and food provided was excellent. Pretty parklike surroundings as well. Not far from thermal areas. Felt some of the entrance fees for tourist locations were rather exhorbitant.
This motel kindly did not hike its prices to exorbitant rates during the World Cup, yet it gave excellent service and was clean and comfortable to stay in. Serviced daily. Could visit the Pohutu geyser through the back gate for free! Would stay there again as just away from the noise in town while only a five minute drive to the Events Centre. We did notice when big trucks went down Fenton Street but otherwise noise was not an issue. The studio unit was large and spacious. Cooking facilities were a microwave and hot plate so don't stay there if you plan to cook huge meals. Plenty of utensils, and all the other facilities or more than you would expect to find.
