family place resort needs empathetic staff

Pros: lots of opportunity to walk.
Cons: staff attitude.
Location: In runaway bay, large enough to just stay there, but we did manage to go to Dunn River falls and to Ocho Rios for some shopping.
We were celebrating my 70th birthday. we didn't tell the resort. Staff for the most part were cordial but not friendly and they did not seem to enjoy their jobs. We tipped at every occasion (perhaps not as much as the staff wanted) but, it was an all inclusive and when service was poor we did not tip. Restaurant reservations were made, but the system worked well except at one time it screwed up our reservation and the restaurant manager and his staff were rude. They made my family step aside while they checked then utterly refused to let us eat at that restaurant because they could not find our reservations even though I made them. The restaurant had plenty of empty tables. My complaint to Customer Relations did not fair any better. After letting me wait for over 15 minutes, the lady behind the counter again said the computer does not show our reservations. When I argued that the system could have a problem and since I have IT background, I asked her to take my word which she didn't. Only when I explained how disappointed I am with her and the restaurant staff did she apologize and gave me a case number where (if I wanted, would get one "free room service" !) I told her that what I wanted was an apology (which she finally gave) and couldn't care less for room service. This place is huge and therefore a lot of people there and the personal care service is lacking. We had to ask for extra shampoo and conditioner . All in all, they slightly spoiled our vacation.

Lovely Resort but rooms could be better.

Pros: Resort, beach and pool
Cons: Rooms and buffet
Location: The disco club on the resort was fun. Our driver Patty was great, drove us all around.
The resort is huge. The pools, swim up bar, club, beach was beautiful. The only downside were the rooms and the buffet. My room smelled like a wet basement. It looked old, the bathroom looked old everything in the room just needs to be refurnished. The smell was awful. The buffet was not good, same food everyday not to mention the food was bland! For this to be Jamaica I was looking for some real good Jamaican food. Besides that the resort is beautiful, great drinks, staff was okay. More so a family resort.

Great hotel and staff!

Kind, friendly, hard working staff! Location good for excursions to blue hole and dunn's river. Clean and very comfortable. Ala carte restaurants are pretty good to, beach is a little rocky but beautiful. Very happy with my stay here!

It was awesome!!

Pros: meals...lots of REAL JAMAICAN meals cooked by JAMAICANS!!
Cons: the visitors policy. 2 hrs maximum and only in the lobby don't cut it.
Location: Lots to do on the premises plus there are tons of excursion and tours
Everything was superb and fabulous!! Grounds was nice and spread out not chucked up on top each other. Lots of color. Humongous pool. 7 restaurants. A village. night life activities.

Nice huge hotel

Everything was amazing except when I got hurt on an excursion (blue hole ) and it seemed like no one new what to do they kept sending me from person to person and all I wanted was to see a doctor

Beautiful Property - Poorly Managed

Pros: The Grounds/Property is sprawling and beautiful.
Cons: Overall property maintenance (pool, air conditioning, elevators etc..), not running out of alcohol for an all inclusive property, and add ice machines
Location: N/A as it rained during much of our stay.
Check-in at this hotel takes place in the bar area, not the front desk, where you have to fill in all of your name and passport information for each guest. Booking a king bed suite; doesn't guarantee what you reserved - plan on having to move to get what you originally requested. Refrigerators, Coffee Pots, In Room Coffee, Shower Head, Lights/Light bulbs, bedding and towels are mostly in each room, but not guaranteed to be available nor operational...expect to have to work on getting these items addressed with the maintenance or housekeeping staff yourself...as going through the front desk is a futile effort. Dining Reservations are near impossible to obtain during your stay - though the concierge will state that they are completely booked; the restaurants/tables will be only 30% occupied, but this is apparently equal to being "fully booked"? The buffet areas all allow you to be seated and get your own food; but plan on being thirsty; as many times you'll only get one cup of coffee; and have to ask numerous times for water - why this isn't fully available to the guests to obtain themselves; I have no idea. Nightly entertainment - plan on bringing earplugs if you ever want to sleep before 11:45PM at this establishment - the entertainment is nightly heavy reggae music that is so loud it actually vibrates the patio doors when closed. Finally; read the fine print, the touted "all inclusive" isn't all it's cracked up to be - in room safe ($6/day), in-room Wi-Fi ($79/week), etc.

It's okay.

Hotel has room for improvement but overall it was an okay experience. There was decent entertainment and things for the children to do. The staff did not go out of their way to be accommodating. It was pouring rain and we could not find a shuttle anywhere and there was no umbrella in the room. My main issue was that the food was recycled from the prior day even if it was stale. They didn't serve jerk chicken while we were there. They should add a grill / snack bar that serves hot dogs, burgers and grilled chicken etc all day. We were only permitted to eat at one restaurant and the open reservations were scarce. However when we visited the restaurant there were several open seats. The food was not spectacular. There are a group of sales people in the lobby trying to trick you into attending a sales / timeshare presentation (I did not appreciate spending my money to be harassed on vacation.). Nonetheless the grounds were beautiful and for the price there were many positives and I would go back for a short stay.

Terrible service

Booked two rooms when we checked in rooms not even in same building always had to call for towels beer and coffee they would never bring them until I complained to public relations and finally things improved room was old and musty something was eating one of the cupboards everyday a new pile of sawdust the beaches really rocky make sure to wear water shoes we had a reservation at steakhouse restaurant but because computer was down the day we booked they just wrote it down my sister's birthday was ruined because when we went to restaurants we were not allowed in because we did not have a stupid piece of paper thanks Bahia job well done for the great memories we did not have on my sister's 50th birthday probably never stay again

Don’t expect anything from management.

We both use CPAP machines, but this room did not have outlets available by the bed. Requested extension cord and were told we could go in to town to buy our own. Most exterior hallways are glazed tiles which gets slippery when wet. My wife slipped , fell and broke her wrist. She did see the company nurse who made a splint out of cardboard and tape and arranged transport options to a hospital an hour away. We had to pay for this. Management never offered to pay for anything. It was our fault because they had many caution warnings posted throughout the complex. Over $8,000 dollars later we were back to the resort to finish out our vacation. We missed many of the excursions we were planning to participate in. On the plus side, we were helped a lot by the two concierges provided by Expedia (Georgia and Maxine).
