Stunning grounds & castle, a delight to stay. Our room was perfect & had not yet had the refurbishment which is ongoing. Spoke to workmen who are installing the new air conditioning - a mighty task for a huge building.
The staff from front of house to the cleaners were absolutely wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, generous with natural smiles, conversation & helpful voluntarily. From the moment you arrive, they are committed for your comfort & enjoyment.
Ignore previous negative comments, they're insane! E.g:
1:No hot water - it's a huge building, let shower or taps run, by the time you have cleaned your teeth the water is very hot ( just consider where the boiler may be to make it to your room)
2: Afternoon tea: 3 finger sandwiches, 2 mini chocolate brownies, slice chocolate flan, 2 slices Bara Brith, Welsh cake (scrumiest I've ever tasted) lemon posset, good sized scone with jam &cream. Endless tea & coffee you can mix. Service was impeccable & relaxed, each extra tea was brought with a fresh teapot ∪.
3: Breakfast, buffet 3 day, service one day. Excellent choice of yoghurts, fresh and dried fruits, pastries, Jams, honey, marmalade, choice of bread , vast choice of quality hot food including cured bacon & great sausage.
Evening meal again did not disappoint.
Gardens & wildlife are so relaxing as are the public rooms if which there are many.
I will return as soon as physically possible, this has been a hidden gem & my now oasis, cannot recommend highly enough.
