Good location, helpful staff, not great otherwise

Posted May 16, 2017
Pros: Friendly staff, good location for downtown access
Cons: Cleanliness, especially floors inside rooms and access gates; air quality
Location: Avis, Amtrak - we didn't stay for any sightseeing or local activities; merely a transition point from a road trip to a train trip
We chose this hotel based on other reviews that the rooms were clean and that they were suitable to business travelers attending events at the convention center, which we figured meant it would be a nice place to stay. In addition, it was in the location we wanted - near the Avis rental car drop off location and the Amtrak train station, since we were returning a car and continuing our travels by train. The staff we encountered upon check-in and check-out were friendly and helpful, and the room appeared as shown in pictures on this site (clean, updated), but in general, we did not like the feel of the hotel. In order to get to our room, we had to climb two flights of stairs, and at the top of the first was a gate that we needed our room key to open - this was cumbersome while carrying our luggage and trying not to touch the cobwebs around the door - there is an elevator that would have made the luggage aspect easier, but it had a similar gate in between the parking and the elevator. Great for security, but should be cleaned/swept of cobwebs more frequently. Inside the room, the air smelled stale, even with the air conditioner running, and while the beds and bathroom surfaces (sink, tub, toilet) appeared clean, the floor had clearly not been swept or vacuumed, as there were various hairs in various places around the room, making us wonder how clean the room really was.

Very convenient hotel in Capitol area

Posted May 11, 2017
I attended a convention at major chain hotel, but stayed at the Quality Inn. It is clean, much more affordable, and very close to the Capitol building and convention center. As with the entire area around the convention center, the homeless problem is evident. Other than that, the experience was excellent, and i would recommend this hotel.

Very close to downtown.

Decent stay. Parking spaces are narrow and lot is cramp. Does have a good complimentary breakfast. Rooms are clean although the walks are a little thin.

I felt comfortable and the room was updated and clean. We were close to our destination and the staffing was nice. The breakfast was more than I expected and great homemade waffles!

Decent

Staff friendliness was average. Sheets needed to be changed when we got there, hair and spots. Free breakfast in morning was decent, PARKING STALL'S TO CLOSE, AND NOT ENOUGH...overall OK stay

Got 4 bed bug bites almost immediately after gotten into my blanket. The room smelled smoky. New bath towels felt wet. The main entry to hotel is in an ally way. Bad.

Nice Hotel

Nice lobby, good breakfast, comfortable bed, reasonably quiet (it is downtown Sacto). It was also within walking distance of my meeting. Perfect for business travelers especially.
