My partner and I reserved a room here at the last minute after spending an entire day moving out of our apartment on the fourth floor. We were exhausted and ready to drop.
The woman at the front desk was extremely kind and upgraded our queen bed smoking room (the only thing listed as available online) to a small non-smoking suite with a kitchenette after someone cancelled. It was a wonderful gesture that was appreciated.
Everything was neat, spacious and clean, albeit a bit old but we were quite happy with it. The room, however, smelled like stale old urine layered with strongly sweet cleaning agent. The bathroom had been thoroughly cleaned, so we were a bit puzzled. My partner eventually followed the smell to a non-AC vent-thing sticking out of the side of the wall.
We could only guess that some previous renter had too wild of a party and managed to mark his or her temporary territory. Since the grated vent was right next to the bathroom door, it's completely understandable that cleaning services would have mistaken the source for the toilet instead. The vent itself looked rather complicated and difficult to take apart to clean. We eventually got used to the smell and fell instantly asleep.
The next morning, we overslept and woke about ten minutes before the checkout time. Once again, the lady at the front desk was incredibly kind and understanding. We were given an additional 30 minutes to depart after grabbing some complimentary orange juice and pastries.
