Brilliant hotel . Definitely 5 stars . Close to train station over the road , two stops to the city or walk 20 mins . Great views . Sky bar at the top has lovely views and excellent cocktails . They put a birthday cake in our room . Shower hot and great toiletries. Repbar is good to see 10 minutes walk

Nice hotel overlooking river & Hafen City

Posted Sep 14, 2017
Pros: Location. Close to regional train and subway (S-Bahn & U-Bahn), and ferry docks. My room has a small window with river view
Cons: My room with 1 double bed was pushed against the wall, which made the 2nd person with one way to slide out of the bed & tight elbow room
Location: Convenient to Hamburg Concert House, City/Town Hall, ferry rides, and other Museums via public transportation.
Direction from the Landungsbruken station should include a back way to the hotel without going up the stairs if one has the big luggage. Hotel is also walkable to the Red Light District. First weekend of September is Hamburg's festival time. So, the big crowd. In the early Sunday morning, walk to Fish Market (fruits, vegetables too) from hotel with locals and tourists was eye-opening.

Close to all that you would want to see in Hamburg

Posted Aug 30, 2017
Pros: Nice room, excellent bathroom. Two very good bars and a good restaurant.
Cons: Cost of car parking.
Location: This hotel is close to all that you would want to see in a short trip. Theatres; the river and harbour; restaurants and cafes; museums all at hand.
A very enjoyable 4 nights. Managed to pack in so much, due to the excellent location of the hotel.

Excellent

Posted Aug 17, 2017
Cons: double beds, rather than singles with single mattresses put together
Location: River, docks, Reeperbahn (we went on a Beatles tour), St Pauli FC, Hamburger Dom funfair
Everything was first rate, apart from lack of bath - just shower - our double bed was made by pushing 2 single beds together, and there was a "lets call it a package" that the cleaners had missed when we arrived. Great location for everything we wanted to do and see, and really outstanding staff that looked after us non-German speakers

A negative Hotel experience

Posted Jul 14, 2017 on CheapTickets
Pros: location
Location: The city of Hamburg has all the things worth seeing, from Elbe to Alster.
Commander's Class Double Room: Too small and spartan. Shower not working, had to be fixed. Hand towels were fray. For a so called "4 Star Hotel" we found it to be of low standard.

Great location and views, with decent rooms. But.

Hotel Hafen Hamburg is in an excellent location, sitting directly above the Landungsbrucken central ferry terminal and the U-bahn / S-bahn metro stop of the same name. It is also close to the city centre (6 minutes by U-/S-bahn), to the Reeperbahn bars and clubs (around 10 minutes walk), to the Altona Fischmarkt (a 5 minute ferry ride west) and to the Elbphilharmonie and Hafen City (about 8 minutes ferry ride east). The view of the river is breathtaking and the outside balcony of the restaurant has superb views for breakfast, lunch or dinner, while the bar at the top of the tower is a great place for a late dinner or drinks. The room itself was clean, pretty sizeable and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was extensive, included cooked breakfast options. But. The lack of air-conditioning in a hot and humid summer was unfortunate, albeit the breeze off the harbour helped cool the room down a little overnight. And although the ensuite was pretty big, the shower cubicle was a little small, which was surprising given how much space there would have been for a larger one.
