Very friendly and clean!

Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Clean room with everything I needed (microwave, fridge, television, shampoo, lotion, etc.). Will definitely stay again.

Service was great. Breakfast was good too. Just one little thing I saw In my room and I was scared to sleep there. Saw big fly. I don't like flies. And construction was too noisy. Other than that it was great. Thanks.

Better than sleeping in the U-haul

The hotel is going through an upgrade/renovation. Atleast half of the parking was taken up by construction equipment, storage or roped off for continued landscaping work and that was at 9:30 at night. The lobby and dining facility are complete but there was no evidence work on the rooms has begun.

Small Room

Pros: Over priced for a small room
This was very small room, I never been in a small hotel room. Room not even large enough to have 2 end tables. I will never stay in this hotel again.

As part of our renovation we are increasing the size of the smaller rooms. We also have larger units, be sure to inquire.

Rooms need refreshing. Cafe had good food. Staff was nice. Very loud during the night. People out on balconies from 2am to 4am yelling down to parking lot. People talking loud getting ice and running in hallways.

Disappointing

Cons: They could address the issues above.
First off, when I called that night (as I was approaching Salem), I was told by Jose the only room available had only a double bed which is not what I wanted so I declined. I then went online to Expedia to see all sorts of options and immediately booked a room with a king bed. In the morning we only had two towels and needed one the night before since we were wet from the rain. We were told rather abruptly to go out in the hallway and someone was that that could help. We went out multiple times where no one ever came. We called again and they said someone would come up. Needless to say we both shower with the one towel and a hand towel. The hotel is not very clean and it's very noisy with wood floors (you can hear the people above you walk around). Just disappointing all around

We had a very nice stay. The staff was exceptional. The room and bed were really comfortable. I travel to Salem to the doctor, and this is our new place to stay. Thank you Red Lion.

Better than I expected!

Pros: The room was clean, quiet, A/C worked properly, personnel were helpful and friendly.
Location: This is an 'off-freeway ramp' hotel. That being said, there are some decent restaurants within walking distance and downtown Salem is close.
I haven't stayed at a Red Lion Hotel for over 20 years. A customer was having a meeting at this location and I was pleasantly surprised at the room comfort and overall condition of the hotel. It is apparently undergoing a massive remodeling and management seems to be juggling the workload very well by maintaining current service levels and room conditions well above average for a property that was having it's entire front driveway torn up, etc. I'd recommend this property.
