This location is in the medieval area of Salerno, with charming narrow streets, not far (short cab ride) from train station, waterfront, and ferry docks. We stayed here 3 nights as we visited Pompeii, Paestum, and Amalfi and Ravella, and also spent some time in Salerno enjoying the crowds who come to shop on the weekends. The room was newly furnished in modern style, maid service was excellent, and all was extremely clean and well maintained. The breakfast was adequate (continental style plus coldcuts, cheese, cereal, and yogurt). The reception staff were very pleasant and eager to help but the staff changed every day and some were more knowledgeable than others about local transportation and attractions. It is not quite a full service hotel (we could not get an extra pillow) but it is a very well staffed and equipped hostel for all ages, with wifi, a computer room, television lounge, etc. It is a former convent with a charming courtyard, with plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy breakfast or the wifi there (as well as indoors). There is an excellent elevator but there are 2 or 3 steps you have to navigate from the courtyard before you get to it. The rate we paid was 55 euros per night but there may be a discount for hostel members.
