Hotel at South Edge of Salina

Posted Jan 1, 2017
Pros: Comfortable beds and pillows. Heaters fine in winter.
Cons: Side doors should allow guests with key back in. A few more offerings at breakfast, including non-skim milk. In-room microwave-all buttons should work
We travel through Salina once or twice a year and have stayed here four or five times over the years. On this stay it seemed that the front desk was understaffed - had several issues, but no one consistently at the desk, however did come soon upon ringing bell. We travel with a dog; this has been a pet friendly motel. This time got charged for pets, never before. Fee reasonable, but unexpected. Side doors of motel lock and don't allow guests back in - hard to allow pets to relieve themselves outside discretely. I was told to keep using the front entrance, but the last thing I need is to have an arriving dog meet my dog in a small, confined area, and have a lot of barking or a fight. Should have side entrances fixed to allow guests back in with room key. No soap or shampoo in our room upon arrival. No way to use pool upon arrival (no lighting, cannot be turned on without staff), so frequent visits to front desk occurred. Room showed signs of wear:broken fixture under mattresses, wallpaper peeling in spots, microwave button broken. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Stayed on cold winter night - room heater was just fine. Lots of TV channels, if you're planning to watch something. Had a good night's stay in that regard. Breakfast was OK but a bit lacking. All milk offered was fat free (skim). Really? To quote a well known TV comedy, 'Why don't I drink out of a toilet bowl?' Overall, an OK place to stay for a good night's rest; OK for pets. Could use some fixing up.

Newer, nice hotel, kinda out of the main city

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Nice stay at this hotel. It was a bit further away than we'd like but overall a great value and facilities seemed newer than some. No complaints. Breakfast was standard for most "hot breakfast" complimentary options. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and cold cereal and pastries. Waffle maker was also available. I would recommend this hotel.

They were good. A/c wasn't good. It had a hard time cooling the room all night.

Staff was accommodating and hotel appears fairly new. Was clean, comfortable and easily accessible from highway 81.

Nice overnight

Meet in the middle to pick up grandkids and stayed here over night. Other than kids playing in the elevator when we were trying to go downstairs it was fine. There was a lot of kids there (softball teams) but it was still pretty quiet at night
