Worst Non-Stay Ever

Posted Sep 15, 2017
Pros: Hard to say.
Cons: Management, up-to-date hotel status information on online, electrical facilities, number of fans per guest, screens in the windows, online-reservation
Location: Stay at other hotels.
Showed up with visiting family from the states. I live here in Costa Rica and have never been disappointed on a such level with a hotel and Expedia's response. Turns out the hotel had recently experienced a major power failure. As such, the hotel had to reduce its overall consumption and had to turn power off to all air conditioning machines and the pools filters and pumps. We arrived to a green slime pool and bungalows that had few opening windows and no screens. For our party of seven, they offered us one fan. Otherwise, the place wasn't that bad. No pool alone and I would have cancelled the reservation but there was no way I was going to sleep lined up sweating with all seven of us and taking cold showers in an attempt to cool off ever few hours. So I called Expedia and they said that they would help me find another place to stay and they did for almost three times the cost of this place. Ridiculous but I had to have a place to sleep that night for all of us. Expedia assured me that I would be refunded in full. So I made the second reservation. Many weeks later, I contact Expedia and they tell me that they had not refunded me the cost of the first reservation. And that they had no record of what had happened. They have been trying to contact the hotel for two weeks now and keep telling me that they just need to... not really ask the hotel for permission to refund the reservation. And now they've stopped replying to my requests for updates. I think it's Expedia's fault.

Convenient, clean and the owners really care

Posted Jan 5, 2017 on Hotels
This is recently revamped. The towels are new but the poolside loungers are just wooden slats. As others have said, it's a great place for price because you can go kiteboarding with Costa Kite, Kite Boarding CR and Blue Dream on all playa copal. But this isn't a stay by the pool and drink away the day kind of Dreams resort. The pool is clean and the food here is good for what it is since it's hard for bahia salinas to get really fresh produce. What made us love it was that it was relatively mosquito free and the rooms are spacious with kitchens, living area and bathrooms with tubs (which are getting replaced and upgraded). Basically it's the best in the area closest to kite surfing.

Not what we were looking for.

Posted Jan 9, 2014 on Hotels
Our room was clean and it was overall comfortable, but there was no hot water. We did not have a car and the location is very isolated. The hotel is on a beach, but it is not very nice. Nice beaches are a $10 taxi ride away- and all taxis all from La Cruz, more than 30 minutes away. The whole place looks like it's best days were 20 years ago- nothing horrible, but a bit dated and shabby. The restaurant's food is very uninspiring and there are no other nearby restaurants. We checked out after one day.

Location is the only reason to stay there. Hotel was empty and employees are suing for past wages

ants & cattle

Posted Apr 14, 2012 on Hotels
we knew what to expect from our last visit, but things were a bit worse. our room was infested with ants until maintenance supplied us with bug spray. we awoke to find cattle grazing below us by the pool. some furniture was missing (chairs for our porch) great views, nice breeze, and the best bloody mary we ever had. an adventure

Don't Go

Pros: Leaving a day early
Cons: Restaurant
Location: Very beautiful
The restaurant service/choices/hours were dreadful. Lots of insects in room. Miles from anywhere on dreadful road.No laundry facilities...we were there for 4 days. Staff didn't care about concerns

Very remote

The resort staff was very friendly, but the restaurant food was terrible and very expensive. Neighboring cattle roamed on the property daily. Great place for kite surfing.

Hotel al lado de la playa

Posted Jan 11, 2017
Excelente ubicación, justo al lado de la playa que es poco visitada, por lo que es casi privada.
