Wonderful, peaceful respite!Posted Mar 21, 2018
We needed a place to stay overnight when we went to visit Stonehenge. The Rose and Crown is a perfect location, less than half an hour away from Stonehenge in a place that is renown for its history! The hotel is lovely (the Avon river runs right alongside!), the grounds are well kept, the restaurant staff was attentive and they didn't have a problem with us being vegan! We had two meals there. The food was amazing! We wished we had booked a longer stay!

Hotel is short walk into townPosted Mar 17, 2018
The hotel staff made this stay very enjoyable, they speak to everyone Only stayed 2 nights with bed and breakfast, it was fine, didn't need fully cooked but available if required Hotel very quiet in the evening so went into town for a bit of atmosphere Would stay in this hotel again if in the area, thank you one and all

Lovely comfortable stay but lacking in facilitiesPosted Mar 8, 2018
The room we stayed in was extremely comfortable and clean. On returning from the town in our first night ( about 10.15) the bar was closed which we questioned. The helpful staff immediately opened the bar up but you can imagine there was no atsmosphere so we took our drinks to our room. We are in the restaurant the 2nd night and, once again, the waiting staff couldn't have been nicer. However, the food was bland and overpriced. I would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting just if you are relying on the bar/restaurant you may be slightly disappointed.

Do Not Stay When The Weathers ColdPosted Mar 7, 2018
I booked a three night stay. My room was on the ground floor of the newer section, windows and external door not locking properly, no safety chain on room door, it was cold, no heating in bathroom, also during the late evening I could embracingly hear guests above me. Next morning Mataince man quickly checked everything and I was moved to an upstairs room which still had heating issues and again no heating in a large bathroom and problems with toilet system filling constantly. It was snowing that day and I had invited friends to visit me at hotel, the weather got worse and they decided to stay not risk traveling, they booked online and the room they were given was No1 in the old section, on seeing the room I swapped with them as one of my friends is ill, it was SO cold heating barely working in room and bathroom freezing again no heating, floors like ice, walls so thin could hear tv and chatting of guests, it also overlooked noisy car park. The Manager told me when I complained that that room never gets booked out for the reasons I’d complained, so why was it an option on onlinebooking? because rooms were being taken people stuck. I was given a small fan heater I’ve never been so cold sleeping in a Hotel, and could not use freezing bathroom. Next morning we dug the car out of the snow, on check out the female member of staff tried to get Managers attention but he remained on the phone turning his back ignoring us, we left in disgust rooms pre paid.

Wonderful locationPosted Mar 4, 2018
Pros: Room, food, staff and location
Loved our stay here! Room overlooking the river so picturesque. Comfortable beds with all that was needed in our room for our stay. Staff very nice and friendly. Food very good. Would definitely stay again especially as the location for Salisbury town was so very close and given the unique area.

Trance rave until late, thin wallsPosted Mar 2, 2018
Stayed here on the night of our wedding but wasn’t told that there would be a trance club night/rave on in the function room until late. Very audible from our room, as was the man nextdoor’s snoring due to such thin walls. Paid a ridiculous amount of money for executive room but there was nothing special about it. Absolute waste of money, wish we’d gone to the Grasmere. Awful.
