the Lamb flatters to deceive, it's a lovely looking place, set in a lovely village. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant & helpful, but it would seem that looking at previous reviews nothing gets done about the problems they have, which is a shame. The room was fine, nicely done & fairly clean (some things, like the lamp, obviously don't get dusted!). The bedding was clean, great pillows, quilt, etc. We stayed in room 3 & the shower still doesn't drain which we did inform them of (looking at the reviews lots of people have). We had dinner which was ok, the menu makes the food sound amazing, but it didn't really live up to the description... We had the full English breakfast which was poor, cold beans, cold shoe leather for bacon & a dried up black circle which I think was the field mushroom (perhaps several hours earlier), shame because it was all good quality ingredients (lovely sausage which was very hot), the waitress was very apologetic and did change the beans (which 2nd time around were lukewarm) and the bacon but that meant my breakfast was all a bit piecemeal and not very enjoyable. Poached egg was good. There were 2 chaps in the kitchen in chef's outfits- if they're chefs then they should be ashamed sending out a breakfast like that for the waitress to serve. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again, which is a shame as it's not far off being really good, but it seems they're not addressing their problems

Dear Gary, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and please let me apologise that your stay was not up to the standard that it should be. The shower in room 3 is very slow draining and is in the hands of our maintenance team. I have passed on your comments to kitchen with regards to breakfast and can assure you that this is not our usual standard. We have just appointed a new head chef and we are receiving excellent feedback from our diners so I do hope that this will not deter you from visiting us in the future.

Nice hotel in a pretty country town.

Posted Aug 17, 2017 on Ebookers
Pros: Full of character and a nice atmosphere. It is obviously part of a good community, the post office/stores is owned and run by locals.
Cons: They need to employ more staff for mealtimes.
Location: A lovely walking area and plenty of sightseeing to do nearby. Salisbury is close with its cathedral, old buildings and good shops.
We had a nice overnight stay at the Lamb. The room and bed were comfortable, as was the shower room. The staff were very pleasant but there were insufficient of them. Consequently service at dinner was slow and we gave up waiting to order the desert. My steak pie was lovely, my partner's calves liver came in a large lump and should have been thinly sliced - both generous portions. Good breakfast the following morning, but slow service again. And what is an english breakfast without a sausage.

Hindon is a small village and I would definately stay at the Lamb again. The staff were very freiendly and welcoming. Only problem we encoutered was with the wifi and phone connections which were patchy.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. Unfortunatley there is very limited mobile phone coverage in our area and sometime the complementry wifi can be temperamental. I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Lovely old pub, just off the motorway not far from Stonehenge, with good restaurant and accommodation. We enjoyed staying.

Classic small town inn

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Pros: Updated room, very comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom & shower were compact, but very adequate. Good free wifi.
Cons: No need for improvements -- everything is fine.
Location: We took a good short walk through all parts of little Hindon. There are other inns in town, an old church. Good location for exploring Salisbury.
One night stay, with dinner. Bar area and restaurant are cozy, with 3 fireplaces. Service was friendly and prompt. Similar for breakfast. This is a classic, small inn -- and the staff strives to please.
