Fascinating historic place to stayPosted Jun 28, 2015 on Hotels
Fascinating place, in mansion built as home for tycoon with three wives and 22 kids. Great furniture and gives a sense of what life was like in late 1800s.. Breakfast was excellent... Near downtown

Beautiful, Comfortable, HistoricPosted Feb 15, 2015 on Hotels
One night decided to try a B&B. The Armstrong Mansion is amazing. The staff answered all our questions and were very informative on the history of the house. Definitely going to stay again and learn more about this amazing building.

Salt Lake B & BPosted Jan 26, 2015 on Hotels
Three-day stay while attending a trade show. Rooms are pleasant, though quirky as often happens in Victorian houses converted to B & Bs - limited electrical outlets, inadequate lighting, no closet in my room. I had difficulty getting the attendant to come to the door when I arrived. Easy public transport to downtown, neighborhood seems to be improving. No business amenities but staff helpful after that first issue.

I was in two different rooms due to problem with the TV. The first room needed updating, deep cleaning, and a curtain on the window. The second room was beautiful but the bathroom needed deep cleaning. The breakfast on day 1 was minimal, then on day 2 it was great. Internet was non-existent in upstairs room but great in the parlor. The staff is friendly. I would stay here again, especially because they gave me a 25% off coupon for my next stay.

Pros: The staff was nice.
Cons: Don't rent that basement room.
Location: Temple Square, capital
I decided to stay here for a 2 day stay in the Salt Lake City area because on the web site it looked charming. Many of the other hotels in the area were full due to a convention. It is very difficult to find their parking lot which must be used due to the restrictions on parking in the area. The staff was very nice and helpful, but the accommodations were awful. The upkeep on the building is sketchy. Our room was down a very narrow set of stairs in what must have been a garage or basement; it smelled musty. The ceiling was extremely low; I bruised my hand just by trying to swat an insect. The room itself was obviously an attempt at rustic/old time "charming". It failed miserably. The most dangerous item, however, was the bathtub/shower. There was an enormous whirlpool tub placed up a step with a hand-held shower. The side of the tub was almost 12 inches after the step up. The shower was broken down and without any place to affix it so you had to either hold it or lay it down in the tub at which point it would start to spray around the room. As a B & B I expected some sort of nice breakfast--I was wrong. There was a ham quiche (I cannot eat pork), some sort of cobbler, strawberry yoghurt(allergic to strawberries) and some muffins that looked like they came from Costco. There were cookies available in the evening at the front desk. I was not happy with my stay.

Nice B&B, but seems overpriced for what was offered. Breakfast was terrible, serving what they called a quiche. Our opinion is that the B&B was trying to keep the place afloat. They should visit other B&B*s and see how they offer low value for the cost. Needs improvement if they want to ask the high prices.

This Hotel had the charm, but disappointing.Posted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: The staff was very accommodating and nice. The breakfast was good.
Cons: Fix the leaking faucets and let guests know how small the rooms are.
Location: All of SLC is at your disposal and there are lots of things to do within driving distance.
The Hotel had a lot of charm, until you went inside your room The rooms were extremely small and the bathrooms very inadequate. We changed room because the toilet continued to run in the first room. The next room was even smaller and the bathtub faucets leaked. There was no shower curtain in either room and a handheld sprayer. No place to plug in a hairdryer. Televisions were extremely small. We were so uncomfortable that we only stayed one night and left the next morning. We ended up paying for both nights, even though we only stayed the one night. Overpriced for what we got.
