Not a 4 Star Hotel
Posted Mar 27, 2017
I booked this hotel for our 11th Anniversary because it was a 4 star hotel. We arrived at the hotel finding out there are only 2 parking options: (1) pay $24 for valet + tip or (2) pay for Public Parking which was $20 for overnight parking and $3-8 every time you took your vehicle out of the lot.
The staff was nice and the front entry was clean and inviting. The elevators are old and loud. It sometimes felt like riding in the Tower of Terror, but we made it safely to our room each time without plummeting to our deaths. The rooms are very very small. I have stayed in quite of few hotel rooms, and this is the smallest room that I have ever stayed in. The room was charming and appeared to be cleaned.
The bathroom was nothing special except for the phone right by the toilet for the sudden urge to call someone on a landline. I thought for being a 4 star hotel, the bathroom would have some nice features, but there wasn't any. This is also a pet friendly hotel, which I didn't realize until we checked in. I would have never reserved this hotel if I knew that. I am not a pet-vacationer. Nor do I like to stay in rooms or sleep in beds that dog, cats, or any other furry animal have slept in. If you need to find a nice hotel that is pet friendly, this is it, but I would not stay there again.

Thank you for choosing Hotel Monaco for your recent visit to Salt Lake City. Thank you for the nice feedback about our staff. I agree that they are excellent. Thank you also for the feedback about our parking. As you mentioned, valet parking is $24 per overnight and the self-park option is the lot next to Hotel Monaco is around $20 per night. We do have a number of packages that include complimentary or reduced price parking if you do stay again. Thank you also for the feedback about your guestroom. We are a historic bank building so some of our guestrooms are petite but we do offer a number of larger guestrooms and suites for guests looking for more spacious accommodations. we'll certainly keep your comments in mind next time we renovate our bathrooms as well. As you mentioned, Hotel Monaco is pet friendly with no additional pet fee. That being said, we do offer a pet-free floor that we are happy to place guests on based on availability and request. I hope we will have the opportunity to see you again next time you are in Salt Lake City.
