Old school charmPosted Apr 4, 2017
The Peruvian is just a walk across the parking lot or a 200 yard shuttle to the lift. Start your day with a fabulous, hot buffet breakfast and end it with a four course delicious meal. Our last dinner was, among other fare, all the shrimp and king crab legs you could eat. The staff was friendly and catered to your every whim and the fellow skiers you dine with make a pleasureful dinning experience. End your day in one of 2 hot tubs and the heated outdoor pool facing the mountain. The ski lockers, bar, free confections, and old school charming lobby help make the Peruvian the place to stay in Alta.
True believers enjoy old-time ski lodgePosted Mar 30, 2017 on Hotels
Charismatic old-school lodging at base of ski area. The main point of staying here other than to ski (obviously) is to participate in the Alta Peruvian community. The family-style dining for dinner (you eat at a designated time, with others to fill our six- or eight-top table) is a blast - guests tend to be a classy high-achieving crowd with good social skills. Inclusive meals include excellent breakfast and excellent dinner but overly plain lunches (lunch needs more variety, and more frequent replenishment of more recently cooked hot foods at the buffet). Many return visitors. We've stayed (multiple years) in a tiny Nordic room with shared bath down the hall, and the showers and heat in bath need work. Rickety old wood-frame building has very nice lobby for socializing and a great bar. Outdoor hot tubs (and heated pool) with drinks served steps away is always a good time.

Love this place but it is not for everyonePosted Mar 14, 2017
Great place to stay if you want to ski hard go to bed early after too many beers and soaking in a giant pool/hot tub. Food is included and is quite good. Not good for young children. Generally tons of fun and a great place to get together with old friends for a ski trip.
Hotel with cabin-style atmopherePosted Mar 5, 2017 on Hotels
My wife felt like at a high school camp again. Small room. Shared bathroom/showers. The hotel makes up for it with large common spaces and a very friendly atmosphere. Log fire in the lobby. Bottomless coffee/ hot chocolate. Complementary breakfast (buffet), lunch (buffet) and dinner. Good variety of food; but we did not quite enjoy the over-sweetened dinner entrees. Dinner booking is a little frustrating though; long line at breakfast to book in an early time. Shared dinner table; great to mingle with other guests. Free shuttle down/back from Snowbird. Enjoy the hot tub in the snow. Very friendly staff.

Good if you don't mind infrastructurePosted Feb 26, 2017
Great location, great staff, good food. Infrastructure horrible. The hotel is very old, dirty and the rooms are in a bad condition. We booked for 3 guests and got a tiny room with two narrow beds. They would place a roll bed in the room, but then we had literally to walk on the beds in order to move in the room and there was no space to put our staff. Ok if the hotel would have been cheap, but no way this is even 20% value of the $750 a day that we paid. After one hour it was clear we can't stay there and Expedia was great in finding another hotel, unfortunately far away from Alta. The refund policy of the hotel was bad, theoretically no refund at all for the whole stay, but Expedia could negotiate 50%.

An old-school, traditional ski lodgePosted Feb 19, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: The nostalgic trip back into the past and the friendly, informal atmosphere. Oh, and the food -- first rate.
Cons: The whole place could be modernized -- infrastructure, bathrooms en suite, thicker walls, etc. But improvements need to preserve the nostalgic feel.
Location: Not much to do but ski, recuperate in the hot tub, and dine.
This place is like a step back into the fifties or sixties (although the music played on the sound system is unrelentingly 70s!). Rooms are on the small size, at least ours was, with communal shower/bathroom, which, in mid-week, was alright, but in higher-occupancy times, would be a problem. The staff were very friendly and accommodating -- the food was truly superb. For skiers, the heated pool and hot tubs are perfect rehabilitators after an exhausting day of skiing. P.S. Utah needs eventually to do something about its absurd alcohol restrictions, which reduce thirsty skiers to 3.2 draft beer at all facilities.
