Terrible neglected hotel

Posted Aug 22, 2015
We checked in. No water in bathroom, had to ask for it to be turned on. Dirty towels. Hair on shower walls. No free Toilettries. Just a big bottle of liquid soap with broken lid. The hotel looked like no one had stayed for years. Kitchen was a disgrace. Disgusting and dirty. Flies and ants, rotten food and milk in fridge. Rusty knives. No wifi anywhere. They said they called technician but they didn't come. Pools not clean. One was out of service and was a mosquito breeding ground. Mosquitoes everywhere! The main pool had a dead crab floating in it. The rooftop bed was dirty and dead insects on it. It had not been used or cleaned for a long time. It was supposed to be a place of tranquility and peace but there was maintenance being done and lots of loud noise. The administrator told us there would be 24hr service at the hotel and always someone to assist us. She left us with a boy and girl who spoke or understood no English and could not communicate with us. We went for a short walk to escape the noise and the hotel was locked when we returned. We could not get in and nobody was there at all! My boyfriend jumped the gate but there was no phone to call for help. About one hour later someone came. Still no wifi and no one to speak English with. We were very angry. They called administrator She could not explain why we were locked out but said sorry. We Were not going to stay there. Best thing about the hotel was she called and paid for our taxi out of there. Waste of our time.

Exotic place

Posted Jun 16, 2015
A great place for a couple to enjoy their time together. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere. It's a little far from the city center, but it's easy to take a bus as they stop every 30 minutes. A taxi is 20,000 pesos, or you could rent a vehicle. Make sure you bring some mosquito repellant, as its in a secluded natural envoronment.

Tranquil, Beautiful Oasis

Posted Mar 10, 2014 on Hotels
Buddha Villa is a lovely little Oasis. Jozef has a great vision for comfort and aesthetic. Every spot to sit or swim has beauty in all directions. Very quiet and serene - no bustle and crowds here. Jozef is a great host, very accommodating. The couple running operations (Luis and wife) are very nice people but not trained in customer service - the hotel could bring in more money with a menu offering drinks and snacks. However, breakfast is excellent, great coffee. Jozef gave great tips on places to eat. This place is perfect for the couple who want to get away and have private time in a beautiful setting. Not a great place for kids - they will get bored quickly. Very far from El Centro, but Rocky Cay is 3 km away and excellent beach with good food and drinks - we stayed away from the hotel, and went to the locals two up the beach a bit, who helped with everything we wanted and gave us great service without being pushy.

Colombian/Island Bed & Breakfast/Boutique Combo

Posted Jun 30, 2012
Pros: The staff. The rooms are nicely decorated. It is a distinct locale for privacy and peace and quiet in contrast to the resorts.
Cons: No TV in rooms yet. No internet available on premises yet. You must go to the Centro and use internet cafes. You will need to rent golf cart/mula.
Location: Located on Km 9 from the centro where most beaches and nightlife is located. Great for single and couples who value privacy and peace and quiet most.
Buddha Villa is a work in progress. A relatively new locale, it is beautifully decorated in an Asian Buddhist motif, and offers the island visitor a departure from the routine resort stay. With a maximum capacity for 10 guests, you have access to three swimming pools, interesting rooms, private sun decks and areas. No children are permitted to stay at Buddha Villa thus offering the solitary adult traveler and couples, real privacy and quiet. Unlike most other resorts and hotels on San Andres which are focused to families and children, BV is an important contrast. The rooms still need TVs, though there is a main one for use in the general open air living room. There is a great selection of DVDs and the TV is wired to DirecTV. There is no internet available yet. It is my understanding the owner of BV is going to address these issues, so it is only a matter of time. Ask when you reserve. There is a saying that any lodging is as good as its staff. I have to commend BV on having one of the best hotel staff in more than five years of travel to Colombia. The three staff on premises are the nicest and friendliest people you will meet. One thing to keep in mind- you will need to rent a golf cart or mula car to get around the island. If you want an alternative to the typical resort stay and you are looking for quiet and privacy on your visit, Buddha Villa is a great option for you. Enjoy.

Hotel bonito, bem decorado, como nas fotos. A sra.

Experiencia general buena, recomendable

Ótima Opção para quem quer charme e sossego!!!!

Posted Jun 4, 2016 on Hotels
