Beautiful Historic Hotel

Posted Jan 12, 2017
The Crockett is a beautiful historic hotel that is right behind the Alamo. It's a short walk to the river walk. The mall is just across the street-- we walked everywhere. I booked the Cozy Queen because I was traveling alone. The cozy is about the size of a dorm room-- roughly 12x12 plus the bathroom. It was clean and comfortable. My friends booked a King, and their room was huge... so read the room descriptions when booking. The staff were fantastic and helpful. The breakfast was really good for a hotel free breakfast. The Texas shaped waffles were a cute touch. The bar serves food and opens at 4-- it's cute and the bartenders were helpful to tourists. The building is beautiful and has so much character! The elevators are small-- it is an old building, but a family can easily fit with luggage. The pool is outdoors but you are allowed to use the amenities at the hotel across the street, which also has a fitness room. The Crockett was about $500 cheaper than the Marriott for my 4 night stay and I don't think that I would have been any more comfortable there. I would recommend the Crockett to anyone and would stay there again.

good location

Pros: for the price the menger is better so no
Cons: room too bright at night
small rooms & we had one that faced the alamo. streetlight made it VERY bright & hard to sleep at night -- keep that in mind when booking. they need some black out curtains in those rooms. told lady at reception desk but she did not seem to care or make note of our comment

Nice hotel close to everything in San Antonio

Posted Dec 31, 2016
Pros: The hotel's location is superb and the rate for our room was quite good given the access we had to everything in the city. Also, a great staff!
Cons: It would have be nice to have a non-bar area where we could buy non-alcoholic drinks and enjoy talking with friends and family.
Location: The location is great. The Alamo is literally in the shadow of the hotel, The River Walk is close (5 min walk) as are many stores and restaurants.
Our stay at the Crockett Hotel was quite enjoyable. In addition to its historic past, the hotel's location is superb for all of the activities in downtown San Antonio. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. It was a great place to come back to after a long day in the city.

Perfect!

Posted Dec 31, 2016
Pros: All of the above - that I wrote in the "Write about our experience." box.
Cons: There was late night street noise from our windows by tour 'criers', I believe about the city's haunted sites, plus from movie goers exiting the mall.
Location: All of the above - that I wrote in the "Write about our experience." box.
Was grateful for Valet Parking as we did not want to drive to the sites due to anticipated traffic and lack of parking during the Christmas season. Was grateful that the Crockett was right behind the Alamo and right in the center of everything - the River Walk - shops - stop & go tour buses etc. The people were sweet - the room was great - and the breakfasts were amazing.

Close to mall and river walk, reasonable rates. Recommend staying if you want to be near the Alamo and shops.

Great loacation and breakfast. Beds are terribly uncomfortable and hotel hallways have a horrible smell of paint.

Thanks for staying with us. We work hard to make our guests happy and appreciate your feedback! We just replaced all beds in 2015 and we've been working on touch up painting on our entry doors. We are sorry the painting was an annoyance.

Posted Dec 20, 2016
Pros: Location, service, price
Location: Very close to The Alamo and RiverWalk. Plenty of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance
Pleasant staff and atmosphere, and well located in the town. Nice decor inside and real character. Breakfast a little basic, but fine for the price

Pros: everything!
Location: Located right next to the Alamo and across the street from the Riverwalk. Trollies and buses were right in the square and very reasonably priced.
Great hotel with old world ambiance. The staff was kind and very helpful...when I couldn't get my flight tickets to print, Edwardo took it upon himself, figured it out and got it done for us. The room was clean and housekeeping was prompt each day. A complimentary hot breakfast was included each morning with scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles, cereal, fresh fruit and more...
