Great hotel with historical feel and value.Posted Oct 3, 2015
This was our second time to stay here. This time we were able to get a suite. But both times it was clean and comfortable. We love the feeling of this hotel because it takes you back in time a bit. Yes there are new hotels with modern looks, but this is historical hotel. There aren't too many of those left and kept in such a shape as this one. The breakfast is great and there is always plenty to go by. The complementary drinks were also great, we really enjoy this feature. The staff is very nice and attentive, all of them. There is a bit of a wait for the elevators at times when it's busy, but one has to remember that the elevators are smaller than the modern ones, and when the hotel is really busy there will be a lot of people in them. Patience is the key, or take the stairs if you're not too high up. But it's part of the charm of this hotel. We love that we can just walk right out to the river-walk from it, and it's in a very good location.

On the San Antonio River walkPosted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: Rooms are very roomy.
Location: View from pool on roof is nice. Outdoor and indoor pool and hot tubs. Terrace view of San Fernando cathedral very cool. River walk is at your door.
Access to the river walk is easy and secure. Major restaurants and attraction close by. Don't need to drive anywhere. Everything is close by, easy walking distances, and there is always something happening somewhere close. La Vallita, River City Mall, museums, all close. 5:30 pm "Kick back" is awesome with food and drinks provided. Breakfast (provided) is plentiful and very good. All staff are friendly and courteous. Easy check in and check out.

Best HotelPosted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: everything. I have no complaints about anything.
Location: We were on the river. we only took our car out once we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Alamo, Travis Park and everything on the river.
The staff was friendly and helpful. All we had to was and our needs were met with a smile. and the breakfast was great. the Kick back in the afternoons was good as well twice we made a meal of it and saved money to spend on other things. The view from the roof where the pool is beautiful at sunset and at night.

Friendliest StaffPosted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: The most outstanding feature of this hotel was the outstanding quality of the staff. Everyone was helpful, friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Very poor elevator service; hot tub not fully functioning and while ceiling fan in room was very nice, you could not adjust the speed.
Location: The hotel is at the end of the San Antonio River walk, but has a close proximity to everything it has to offer; just expect to walk.
We had a good stay (3-day weekend). The hotel includes a hot breakfast buffet & happy-hour. Don't expect GREAT food though-it is marginally okay. They also served the same exact thing two days in a row. The happy hour time includes 3 free cocktails/beer/wine, which is very nice. The hotel did not appear to have any type of restaurant or bar or offer any room service, so you MUST leave if you want food any time other than the morning breakfast or afternoon happy hour. The staff is outstanding; however and that makes up for a lot. Good rooftop pool, but the hot tub was not fully functioning. There are two hot tubs, but the other was in use; I don't know whether it worked well or not. The location was good, though at the END of the riverwalk ... if you're going to be on-foot, you're better off walking on the street instead of the slow, winding, crowded Riverwalk. You are forced to use the valet parking (no self-park available), but the $21 per day fee is worth it ... the valets are quick, courteous & will offer directions. We were there on the weekend and only had a VERY short wait each time we took our vehicle out. Again ... extremely friendly and courteous! Overall our stay was good. I will look into this particular hotel chain to stay in other areas the next time I travel and compare the cost & accommodations to other hotels first.

I have already talked with several of our friends about our great experience. The Hotel is now our favorite and we will be going back. The staff was wonderful, "Gabby" checked us in and treated us with such respect. A wonderful experience for our anniversary, Thanks so much. Tony E. Houston

Beautiful hotel next to the RiverwalkPosted Sep 13, 2015
The room was quite spacious, decorated nicely, and clean. The countertops of many furnishings were black galaxy granite. I loved the balcony with its scenic view of the city as well as the Riverwalk. The staff were courteous and helpful. The buffet breakfast surpassed expectations and the evening "kickback" was a great perk! They had many choices of tasty food at the kickback. I will definitely go back if I return to San Antonio!
