Disappointing experience, kind hotel staff

Even though the hotel shuttle operates till 11:00 pm, when I made my reservation the clerk refused to arrange for my pick-up at 10:40 or 50 because they prefer to stop their shuttle service at 10:30 so as not to run over. This occasioned e inconvenience and extra expense as I had to get alternative transportation. IN San Antonio, this means that people will try to take advantage of people unfamiliar with the city. The taxi drivers refused to give me a general idea of how much it would cost me to drive to the hotel, which all said they had no idea where it was. They all have Maps of course. I finally thought of this myself, but it still doesn't excuse their refusing to give me a general idea of cost for comparison purposes. I've lived in San Antonio for a couple of years, and I know it as a rip-off city, from professional services to the most basic. Beware! Of course, if cost is no concern for you, it won't matter.
When I got to my hotel, I could not use my credit card to purchase bottled water or snacks and I was hungry. They only accept case at night.
