There is still some serious construction going on that starts at 6am, and is SO loud. However, we enjoyed our stay here. We didn't request to have our room cleaned while we were there, but I admit that I miss the days when it would just happen without a request. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bed. We will definitely stay here again as the staff are all really nice, and its location is an excellent jumping off point for just about anything you could want to do in SD.

We spent 5 nights. Bed and pillow were comfortable - more so than Hyatt and Hiltons we have stayed at. Hot water was always available. Staff were very friendly. Daily room cleaning was available but we opted to set out trash when needed and it got emptied. And we set out used towels that got collected and they supplied fresh towels at the front counter or delivered them to our room. Our hotel was on the edge of Little Italy. Lots of good food places in walking distance. One day we took a pedicab from the Embarcadero and Midway ship museum back to our hotel after walking to those points of interest. Fun ride. Another time we took an Uber from Petco park back. The Uber driver commented that we chose a great hotel in its location - near Little Italy. He said the Gas Lamp Quarter had a much bigger problem with homeless people. We felt safe walking several blocks including to Sea Port Village. The main lobby coffee machine even made hot chocolate which I indulged in many times. There is also a StarBucks across the street. My only issues were that the hotel is showing its age as in scratched table and room furniture, no fan in the bathroom for steam, and the balcony sliding glass door was only openable a little bit due to, i believe, broken wheels. But over all, I definitely would stay there again.

This is a convenient and relatively affordable, clean option in San Diego. I haven’t stayed at a Best Western in many years and found it to be a good affordable option.

Within a close distance from airport and to cruise ship terminal. Disappointed because only "grab and go" breakfast only available. Restaurant being renovated currently, so that is probably on a temporary problem.

Great location is u r heading on a cruise....super walkable and near great little brew pubs. A pool and hot tub and small gym. Rooms are clean and roomy.

Easily walkable to Little Italy with lots of restaurants to choose from. There is a big construction project next door but we’re early risers so it didn’t matter to us. Parking was easy with a small garage next door but I imagine it fills up when the hotel has higher occupancy.

We have stayed 3 times and have found the hotel to be comfortable and convenient. This time we had a room next to the elevator, but we did not hear noise from the elevator or from other guests. If you walk in the area, you will probably pass one or more vagrants. Unfortunately, that is probably going to happen in any downtown area in California. We were traveling as a couple and did not feel unsafe. We bought snacks at a RiteAid pharmacy on a corner two lights to the west and one block north. The hotel itself doesn't offer much in the way of snacks. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel was a short taxi ride to the B Street Cruise terminal ($12). There were lots of restaurants close by to choose from. It was convenient to have the complimentary breakfast. The rooms were clean and we had a partial view of the bay. We enjoyed the hot tub. The Front desk desk check is quick and organized. You can hear the train whistles often which is about 2 blocks away but it wasnt too loud to be bothersome. Located in the Little Italy area of the city.

The room type you have reserved is not a standard room, it is a larger size room located on the higher levels facing the city. Our standard city view rooms are smaller in size and located on our lower levels.

This hotel is located about 5 blocks from the Santa Fe train and bus depot, We had reservations for an Amtrak train that left from the depot at 6 a.m.; this hotel was just the place to stay the night before, since we could walk to the depot. We picked up our grab-and-go breakfasts from the front desk and took them on the train with us. The location is also convenient to the San Diego trolley. There are restaurants nearby. The beds were comfortable. There was a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker. There is construction going on next door, but it didn't affect us, since we checked out early in the morning. The city view rooms face the construction. The bay view and pool view rooms do not; you should book one of those if you are hoping to sleep past 7 a.m. We hope to stay at this hotel again because the location is so convenient for us.

The room and location was nice. Our view was a high rise construction project next door which didn’t bother us. We asked for fresh bedding and towels before we left one morning (you have to ask for your room to be cleaned daily if we want it done) and came back that evening to it not being completed. When i called to the front desk, they said they didn’t know why it wasn’t completed and that the services were done for the day. Our option was for them to bring the bedding up and for us to change the bed ourselves… which we did but obviously if we’re paying for the room and the service it would have been great to have it done in the first place.

We got a room on the 6th floor staying for 5 nights in March. The room was clean and spacious with comfortable beds. The only problem was we didn't get any room service even though we were told it would be done every 3 days. No one collected the rubbish. Hence, we won't go back.

The furnishings were older. Bed was very good. They were doing something to their kitchen so the breakfast was a sack grab and go. Not great this was in an area without many options for breakfast.

This place was recommended by a good friend to stay here. It was a quick Uber trip from the airport. Check in was easy. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The only complaint. The tv volume didn’t work. But we weren’t staying there to watch tv. Loved walking around the area. I would definitely stay there again.

Donald,Thank you for your comments. We are in the process of renovation both of our hotel rooms and restaurant which will be over a 2 million dollar renovation. As far as homeless, I wish there was a solution, however this problem can be found in any city as you must know.

So clean and comfortable!
This Best Western was extremely clean and comfortable! The beds and pillows were wonderful. I will definitely be staying here again. The location is also great. It's just a couple of blocks to the Square in Little Italy with tons of great places to eat. Can easily walk to it all.

It met Best Western's normal standards for Excellence, so we'd have been "Amazed" only if it had not met those standards. Highly recommend them...Especially appreciated the friendliness of all staff member at the front desk...but, again, no surprises, they always have great staffing.

I appreciated three things about the hotel: the partial view of the bay, how comfortable the bed was and the friendliness of people who worked at the front desk. Plus it was two blocks away from my son’s apartment, which was very handy. What I don’t understand is the “excellent” rating given by other travelers. The entire hotel is in desperate need of a thorough remodel. In these days of everyone having multiple devices needing plugs, it’s inexcusable for a room to have only two working plugs, one of them being accessible only by crawling under a table. God forbid you wanted to charge your iPad and phone while drying your hair. The two chairs were heavy and uncomfortable metal with plastic seats. The furniture, circa the 1950s, was large and clunky. The rooms were supposed to be cleaned every 3 days, but I still had to ask twice for it to be done. Overall a miserable experience that I won’t repeat.

We offer housekeeping services every 3rd day and just need your permission to enter your room, which is now standard for most US hotels, due to the change in preferences from guests. We also will bring amenities and remove trash anytime, upon request. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
