Nice hotel very close to gaslamp

Posted May 2, 2017
I would definitely recommend this hotel, The only thing I did not like was that they held my card for some sort of incidental fee without even mentioning it to me, I had to call and question the charge that was done twice, but besides that I loved the place.

Hi Treecy We're glad you liked our location. We think it is convenient to the Gaslamp and transportation options to get you around area and it sounds like it was a hit with you. Since we do not have a parking garage, we do use the services of an outside company to valet park our guest's vehicles. We hope you will be back to San Diego for another visit and that you'll come back and see us! Best Regards, The Palomar Team

Corner room with balcony

Posted Apr 15, 2017
Pros: What did I like? ... Not a single thing
Cons: Front desk staff, housekeeping, room qualities, overall customer service
I was down in San Diego for a quick trip and decided to stay here by mistake. 1. As soon as I walked in, the front desk agent carried himself as if I were welcomed to a motel. Terse in his words. "Last name?" "You booked for Palomar or Salomar?" Well, I'm no front desk agent but it should be something along the lines of "Welcome, may I have your last name?" isn't it? 2. The bed is so uncomfortable and that's enough said. The hotel doesn't carry slippers so you need to walk around in your shoes unless you are comfortable walking barefoot on carpet that hasn't been washed since the opening of the hotel. The shower door is missing so all the water splashes the bathroom floor. Wasn't a big fan of a shower head full of residues and calcium buildup. 3. Late at night, I assume the hotel wants cut costs and keep as little employees as possible on the clock. A different agent who answered the phone, once again, was very unprofessional. I had requested an international plug, toothbrush/toothpaste, and q-tips (which he told me they do not carry, but I know they carried it because the bathroom was stocked with q-tips). Long story short, this hotel ranks below average for sure when it comes to customer service. When I asked them for the international plug, the guy was hinting for me to pick it up down at the lobby. So I asked him, "Are you telling me to come pick it up???" and he reluctantly told me he'll send someone.

Hello Johnny To hear that you did not feel a warm Kimpton welcome to the hotel is definitely disappointing to us. We strive to provide excellent service levels and always want to always hit the mark on doing so! We would sure like to work on turning your experience around and hope you'll give us a chance to do so and if we can chat further, that would be appreciated. Regards, Jim Hollister General Manager

Nice new hotel

Posted Apr 12, 2017
Pros: It's new and very spacious. Amazing location and lots of things to do nearby.
Cons: The one thing that definitely needs improvement was the cleanliness. Housekeeping failed to really clean the room throughly.
We stayed here during my birthday weekend and had a wonderful stay here. The views from the room were amazing and we had an upgrade to a large suite with balcony overlooking downtown San Diego financial district. We were in heaven. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was big and everything was nicely arranged. The staff was also were nice and accommodating. The only thing we really noticed was the house keeping which was lagging in my opinion. During our three day stay stay, toiletries were never replenished even as I set empty containers on the counter, there was a dirty towel still laying on the floor near the bedroom upon our return, there were hairs inside the sink as well, and mini bar was also never replenished. When I mentioned it to the receptionist they immediately sought action and also credited us for room service and internet usage as compensation.

15 minute walk to conference centres

Posted Apr 9, 2017
I had a pleasant, uneventful stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ron facilities were quite reasonable for the price. I would stay here again for future conferences in San Diego.

Friendly and courteous staff. Decor was beautiful. Only parking expensive as it is typical for downtown.

Nice way to start our week with the 5-Star review and the great comments about our Palomar team. Makes our day. Thanks for understanding about the parking as we do not have our own garage at the hotel and utilize the services of an outside service. If you are back in San Diego, we hope you'll put the Palomar at the top of your list and come back for a visit. Cheers!

My Stay at the Kimpton

Posted Mar 31, 2017
Pros: room was comfortable
Cons: Pool bar to be open
Location: thr hotel is set in the heart of party central so if you are looking for somewhere close to bars it ideal
Nice stay....but was actually a little undewhelmed with the facilities. I appriciate the hotel was having some work done so i feel they should of utilised the pool bar which was closed for the whole time i was there. If i wanted a drink i had to go to the shop on the corner. Reception is very dark and a little dull. pleasent staff !

Dear Finney We're sorry to hear that we fell short in providing you with a great stay and experience during your recent visit. It sounds like the bar that we had set-up in the lobby did not work well for you or maybe the hours did not match your schedule. Either way, we are disappointed to know it was not convenient for you. We appreciate the comments about our team and hope that you would consider visiting us again and check-out our newly renovated bar and restaurant (that is opening this week) as well as the pool bar will be available soon for the summer months. Thank you for your feedback as it helps us to improve our service. Sincerely,

Barely a boutique hotel

Posted Mar 29, 2017
We've stayed at other Kimpton Hotels and this one was the worst. There was nothing terrible per se but everything was barely average. We usually like to stay at smaller boutique hotels (the modern, SLS, Thompson) due to the extra touches, friendly staff and comfy beds. The staff were definitely not friendly (besides the lovely housekeeping staff) and bordered pretentious. The pool area had pigeons and no staff around to clean up or attend to anything and the beds in the rooms are small and not comfortable. And did I mention there was non functioning restaurant and construction in the lobby while they were removing the board separating the lobby from the restaurant. All during the time they were providing a "complimentary breakfast" in the lobby to make up for the construction. Maybe let your customers eat first before you start drilling and hammering in your lobby. Don't waste your time or money at this place.

A slice of heaven in San Diego

Posted Mar 26, 2017
I adored my stay at the Kimpton Palomar. Our room was just as luxurious as it appears on the website (which is too often not the case with hotels). Staff was so cheerful and incredibly hospitable. Great location downtown and really not too noisy at all despite being in the bustle of the city. And nothing makes you feel more cared for than the free happy hour they offer in the lobby every day - what a treat! Only complaint is that my trip had to come to an end!

Dear Katie Thank you for making our Monday even brighter! We appreciate the kind comments and for taking the time to share them. And...we have a suggestion- if your stay had to come to an end sooner than you would have liked, you will just have to come see us again soon! Again, thank you and we hope to see you in the near future. Sincerely, JJH

Overall nice but no free wifi

Posted Mar 20, 2017
This is my pet peave. It's 2017. Internet is a necessity. I do not like how they make it difficult to get wifi. Not included. It should be.

Dear Patel I am sorry to hear of your frustration with the Internet pricing. We do offer complimentary wi-fi for Kimpton Karma members and to become one, it is a simple process that can be done at the front desk when you are in the hotel. My regrets if you were not aware of this as we would have been happy to get this taken care of for you. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we do hope you will consider joining the Karma program. Sincerely, JJH
