Lovely Seaside Hotel

Pros: The staff was what stood out to me, from Manny on the patio to Richie and Manny the next morning, housekeeping and valets (Sean) ~ all very friendly.
Cons: I had a smaller room, because I booked through a third party, Aand I would like to try one of their larger rooms next time.
Location: But a few minutes' walk to the ocean with surfers out early in the morning, nice shops along Camino Del Mar and very near Del Mar Racetrack.
Loved this hotel from the minute I walked into their breezeway lobby, opening out to a dining patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Front desk was just off to the right and included a big screen tv hooked to a webcam showing live shots of the surrounding area ~ very cool! Nice, comfortable looking bar was off to the left, and the entire lobby was tastefully decorated, including two unique tables made out of seashells.

Pros: Excellent staff, accommodating, close to nice beach and restaurants.
Cons: Cleanliness and attention to details of upkeep in some of the rooms could be addressed.
Location: too much too choose from.
Overall its a great hotel and the staff very gracious and accommodating. Location wise: perfect between all the things we wanted to do for the week. Walking distance to beach and restaurants. We were in 3 different rooms during our week stay due to being able to upgrade during week but had to move again for a sold out weekend. 2 of the rooms with lower ceilings were not as clean as I'd wished and could use some attention to detail: I even had housekeeping come vacuum the vents on ceiling/bathroom as I could see all the dust on them due to low ceilings. One room was missing bathrobes, which I could have called and asked for but didn't make an effort to do. And when moving rooms one of the times I pulled up the chair cushion to make sure my son didn't have any missing lego pieces only to find it probably had not been cleaned in a bit. Wish there were more options for gym classes/activities. Only M/w/f yoga at one time and sat option for beach class. Spa was nice but really only a steam shower - no separate sauna/hot tub. Not really a place you'd hang out if you weren't having a procedure and closed at 6. Poolside menu: I wished had a bit more basic options, Nachos being one of them.

Not good value

Very nice facilities in common area. Beach access is cumbersome, down stairs, across train tracks. Small beds were terrible, should at least be queens. $35 resort plus $35 parking made this very expensive for what you got.

Anniversary Getaway

Front desk and valet staff were very friendly. The hotel was very beautiful and charming. The room was comfortable and they had a great viewing deck for a spectacular sunset.

Good Trip (not absolutely amazing)

It rained (unusual in San Diego) and the ceiling leaked in our room and lobby. Staff was fantastic. Area was a little sleepy in February, but still beautiful.

Nice location and comfortable hotel. A bit expensive for what it is. Service doesn't necessarily match the price. Beware of hidden costs.
