Hotel or Wedding Venue?

Posted Jul 19, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Less weddings and more focus upon hotel guests
Location: Close to plaza, racetrack, beaches and all shops in DelMar
Nice hotel close to all Del Mar facilities but check to see if they are holding a wedding or a special event. We went to this hotel hoping to have a relaxing finish to our holiday. On 2 out of the 3 days that we were there, weddings were held and that resulted in the hotel being very busy and very noisy until late in the evening. It also means that a portion of the hotel is shut off to normal hotel guests. So nice hotel but disappointing experience for anybody not attending weddings.

Luxury hotel, overpriced, small rooms.

Posted Jul 1, 2017
Wonderful location, Beach Access is a bit wierd. You have to cross over railroad tracks to get to it. Staff during day was excellent at night horrible. Valet lost our keys for an hour and at $39/day you expect a refund for thst day.. At $400+ a night not includin taxes and $39/ day resort fee and $39/day parking you expect bigger pool ( tons of families) and larger rooms. When we arrived we upgraded to coastal room. But view of ocean was weak and seen mainly off balcony. Overall high priced and missing some things to make it worth another stay - 3 stars.

Expected more

Posted Jun 2, 2017
Overall a nice hotel but was expecting more. Favorite part was the outdoor dining with a view of the ocean. All the food was delicious. The pool was too small and plain. Was looking forward to my coastal view of the ocean but didn't realize it would be right on top of the pool with views of the pool sunbathers. Also, Elevator was broken the entire time.

Lovely Seaside Hotel

Posted May 9, 2017
Pros: The staff was what stood out to me, from Manny on the patio to Richie and Manny the next morning, housekeeping and valets (Sean) ~ all very friendly.
Cons: I had a smaller room, because I booked through a third party, Aand I would like to try one of their larger rooms next time.
Location: But a few minutes' walk to the ocean with surfers out early in the morning, nice shops along Camino Del Mar and very near Del Mar Racetrack.
Loved this hotel from the minute I walked into their breezeway lobby, opening out to a dining patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Front desk was just off to the right and included a big screen tv hooked to a webcam showing live shots of the surrounding area ~ very cool! Nice, comfortable looking bar was off to the left, and the entire lobby was tastefully decorated, including two unique tables made out of seashells.

Terrific hotel!

Loved this hotel!! The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Beautiful premises in the lobby/lounge areas as well as the rooms. Pool is not large but very comfortable seating all around where you can be served drinks as well as meals. There are 2 well maintained tennis courts that are surprisingly unused. The $35 daily resort fee was a surprise at check-in but it does include all activities (for example no court fees). Beds are comfortable though we wish they had queens instead of doubles if you're more than 2 in a room. My very small complaint is that all doors are wide open into the lobby area even when it is very cool outside, so relaxing inside was sometimes cold and breezy. All in all great hotel, well situated near many good restaurants. We would most definitely go back!!
