Nice location, but we won't stay again...

Posted Aug 28, 2015
The location for the hotel was a central one and right by the main interstate needed to go anywhere, but the hotel was not even 3-star. Most of the people who worked at the hotel were kind, but there were a few that were rude and used foul language. Our hotel room was okay (we usually stay in much better) but the pictures online look way better than the actual rooms. Our sink was stopped up from the first day and eventually over-flowed because it never got fixed when we called the front desk to come check it out. They ended up giving us half off of our last nights rate, but that didn't compensate. It was kind of ridiculous to me that it even happened and even more so that they never fixed it but just put a trash can under the sink. Overall, the location was good but we will choose another hotel if we stay in Carlsbad again.

The front desk lady is very nice and the hotel provides discounted tickets to Legoland. My kids love this hotel too, I have nothing to complain.

Beautiful grounds.

I was very happy. The trees and landscaping was beautiful. The room was clean and the bathroom counter and sink looked newly remodeled. The free breakfast was very convenient. The only tiny little negative thing I'd have to say is that the hotel claims to have a free shuttle. But it's not a shuttle. It's a mini van that only carried 6 passengers so there was always a line of people waiting for rides to and from Legoland. But the drivers were friendly and even dropped us off right at our hotel room door.

A little run down and no mention of my Expedia gold status, not sure whose fault that was.

Good Value Hotel, Close to Legoland, Free Shuttle

Posted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Location, cleanliness.
Cons: The tub had been re-covered with a vinyl sleeve. Water had seeped between the old tub and the floor of the new tub the covered it. it was unstable.
Location: Legoland, beach, village, restaurants, shopping.
If you're going to be spending a lot of time in your room and/or at the pool, then you may want to upgrade to the West Inn. But if you are like us, and you plan to use the place more or less just to sleep, shower, and have breakfast, then you cannot beat the value. It's very close to Legoland, close to the beach, and only steps from numerous restaurants and (if you are so inclined) shopping outlets. The free breakfast buffet is decent and has a good selection: omelettes and sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, bagels, danish, cinnamon rolls, juice, coffee, and milk. The free shuttle is both good and bad. If you're going to or from Legoland at off hours, it's fast and will save you $15. On the other hand, the wait is terribly at peak times, especially closing time. On the first night, we had to wait close to an hour for our shuttle back to the hotel. They say it's a 10 or 15-minute walk to the hotel, but that I suspect it's much longer. And after being on your feet at Legoland, do you really want to walk back to the hotel too? The second day we elected to drive to Legoland instead and pay the $15. It was so worth it to leave when we wanted and not be at the mercy of the shuttle.
