Absolutely gorgeous

The hotel was so beautiful, very private and I love having the hiking trails right on the property. Location is great and I will always stay there when I visit.

Lovely hotel - room was great and the staff were excellent. The grounds are also beautiful and the dining options we tried were good. Only downside is that the hotel is a bit isolated - a hire car was a must if you want the freedom to do things offsite (the hotel also offers car rides into del mar). As we had a hire car, the hotel was a great place from which to explore the greater San Diego area.

Perfect Family Holiday Vacation

Pros: Luxurious; no nickel & diming. The Staff was top notch. Concierge was so helpful.
Cons: That our vacation couldn't be longer.
Location: Hotel is about 30 minute drive from airport and 25-30 minutes from most attractions. We did a ton and felt the hotel was great retreat after long day
After going on family vacations to the Caribbean for over 30 years, our group (ages 2 through 74) decided to try something new in a Zika-free, warm environment for Christmas week. I researched for several weeks before deciding on the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. We could not have been happier with our choice. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy. From the time we got there, until the time we left, we felt that this was such a well run, professional yet relaxing place to be. On Christmas Eve after a long flight, my daughter watched Polar Express in their lobby, in her pajamas, while wearing a princess crown she was given at check-in and tried the hot chocolate and apple cider. You have the option of valet parking ($30 per day) or self parking a few minutes away for free. The rooms are beautiful and large. The lobby smelled like gingerbread, had 2 fireplaces going and hosted live, relaxing music at night after a long day. The year round heated pools (adult and family friendly sections) were fun for the kids, as were the tennis courts and golf. We used the gym multiple times and loved how all the machines worked, had individual tvs and fresh water/towels ready to be used. The Beds, pillows, shower, N'espresso machine - all highlights as were the chocolate covered Oreos left on our pillow during turn down service. My two year old daughter keeps asking when we are going back to the hotel. She misses it. I miss it. They pamper you and then you never want to leave.

Entire staff could not have been better.

Pros: I have never gone to a hotel where I felt it could be perfectly safe, if I did not bolt the door. The nicest people work there, no exceptions.
Cons: Very long walk to get to rooms. Long walk to pools. Long walk to gym. Wouldn't prevent me from coming back.
Location: it is located 20-35 minutes from most places you would want to visit, with no traffic.
We played golf, hotel supplied clubs. Cost very reasonable to play. Under twelve free. We went to beach, hotel supplied chairs, umbrellas, towels. No charge. We played tennis, hotel supplied racquets and balls. No charge. A very upscale hotel, that did not nickel and dime you. This hotel will be your standard. This hotel will spoil you, no matter whatever hotel you ever go to again. If you self- park your car, there is no charge. Do not be intimidated and go for the valet parking, unless it is difficult for you to be mobile.

We live in LA and come down to the area at least once a month. We usually stay at the Park Hyatt Resort Avira but figured we give the Fairmont a shot this time, we were not disappointed. Absolute gem. The property is just beautiful, room very comfortable, great amenities, restaurants... One bad note, the staff: - Bar staff, check-in agent, valet and security: top-notch. - Checkout-out agent, concierge and restaurant staff lack professionalism and friendliness. Thank you for a great stay, you are from now on our choice for our monthly getaway.

Large room for Fairmont - very comfortable

Pros: large comfortable room
Cons: distance from San Diego troublesome when Pacific Highway backed up - took 1.5hrs to get into town
Location: La Jolla and beach close by
excellent stay - would stay at hotel again. Will not do again if more info needed.

lovely experience

Pros: staff, the rooms were clean.
Cons: maybe add a little more of a contemporary touch.
Location: del mar beach, lo jolla beach, birch aquarium.
San diego is always a fun place but the Fairmont made my stay pretty neat. The hotel is close to the main attractions, less than 3 miles from the del mar beach which is great. The rooms are great, we had a suite and it was lovely, we had great housekeeping (2 times a day) and the room was immaculate. I would recommend without hesitation. Hotel staff is very friendly and courteous.

The best hotel my wife and I have stayed in. It felt like we were in a different world the minute we stepped into the lobby. The Staff was inviting, accommodating, and friendly. Service was 1st class!
