Posted Aug 25, 2015
Pros: Close To Freeway But Freeway Noise Could Not Be Heard In The Room Or Hotel. A/C Problem Was Taken Care Of Within 5 Minutes After Contacting Staff.
Location: Del Mar Race Track And Fairgrounds. Shopping And Dining Options Close By. Beach Close By. San Diego About 19 Miles Away.
Walking Distance To Del Mar Race Track. Very Close To Freeway On Ramps Going Either South To San Diego Or North Towards Los Angeles. Fast And Easy Check In. Very Friendly And Helpful Staff. Very Nice Lobby Area. Parking Is In The Back Of The Hotel. Bar Area With Limited Food Menu Available.

Pros: It was close to the racetrack.
Cons: You have to stand back from the sink. Towel rack sticks out. Where's the volume on the alarm? Put in a clock radio. Towels and wash clothes not plush.
Location: That's why we chose it. Not very happy with the overall look or feel of the hotel. Feels cheap. Kids were annoying in the bar area.
It was so-so. A place to sleep near the racetrack.

Nice hotel, bad customer service

Posted Aug 19, 2015
We arrived and we're greeted with a $18 charge daily to park my own car! We asked for some toiletries that we forgot and had to call 3 times before anyone listened. The room was very clean and the hotel is nice. I would have liked to have at least one more elevator for such a large building. Finally, as we left, in order to get out on the last day we needed our room card. The panel was open all the other days. We called the front desk for assistance and waited over 5 minutes at the parking lot for someone to open. She related the panel and didn't even answer a good bye or even acknowledged she heard us. Terrible customer service.

Nice, close to beach, sea world, and zoo

Liked the hotel. Parking was expensive but you can go in and out without paying again. Roll away bed was 20 bucks extra a night, no one told me. I thought it was included. Nice pool. Kids had fun.

The hotel is very close to the highway, shops and restaurants, and right across the street from the racetrack.

Needs a tune up and a "Check Up from the Neck Up".

Pros: Patio and Pool Areas
Cons: Simple maintenance and paying attention. In a word -- caring.
Location: Fish Market restaurant across the street was great. Ocean area and shops around the town of Del Mar (15th Street) was nice.
Overall a nice (but old) hotel with a large courtyard / patio and pool area in the center. Stayed on the first floor near the weight room and VIP lounge (unfortunately). Very noisy area in the morning. Woke up each morning to dumbbells hitting the floor - which sounded like a truck hitting the building -- and heavy door slams from all sides every few minutes. One day we woke up to really loud dogs barking from the adjacent room and hallway. I Visited the front desk a few times with normal questions about area attractions and how to obtain beach towels, etc. No one was very knowledgeable or eager to help with anything. The morning staff even seemed a bit snobbish and "put off" with my questions and less than compassionate about my explanation of the noise around the room. He did explain the conditions for changing rooms - but with a bit of an attitude. Afternoon staff was (a bit) more cordial -- but no staff member (that we met) was exactly "Winning friends and Influencing People" (if you know what I mean). My recommendation would be to add a few more layers of padding (or something) in the weight room and perhaps a sign that says "don't drop the weights on the floor". The doors to the VIP lounge and the exits probably just need maintenance and to be adjusted again so they close slowly instead of a hard slam. They should also warn people who stay in that area of the building about what to expect.

as the hotel is non-smoking and the room smelled of smoke after a long wait he moved to another room and six hours after leaving the hotel, we were making a charge for a bottle of water that never took. and loss of time to be calling ..
