Everything was good. Rooms are older than I expected. But over all everything was good. Beautiful pool.

San Diego Spa & Resort -

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: Nothing extraordinary.
Cons: See experience.
Location: Lot to do in San Diego area, I would have to say I would have needed a two full weeks to see and do everything I wanted. Definitely a return trip.
I booked a room with an ocean view; my room was on the ground floor overlooking a lagoon not what I call an ocean view. The hotel is dated and in need of significant upgrades but has potential to be a very nice facility. At check out I turned in a listing, 8 items, of deficiencies I identified in my room to include a sticking toilet valve, inop power outlets, no screens in balcony doors (can't leave open at night, ground floor, to enjoy ocean breeze, bathroom sink not draining, TV inop (was repaired first night). Additionally after paying $36 a night for parking was left searching for a parking spot and having to walk completely around the facility to access my room from available parking space. Further recommend not using concierge to book excursions and just explore on your own. Booked two excursions totaling over $400 to only realize after the fact that with a little research I could have accomplished all on my own for a fraction of the cost.

We greatly appreciate your feedback and regret and are very sorry the items you mentioned were not addressed prior to your arrival. We strive to offer all of our guests a comfortable and relaxing stay and your comments will assist us in reaching our goal. I have scoured the internet trying to locate any marketing verbiage that states we are on the ocean, as this is not the case and we work very hard to communicate clearly to our valued travelers what we as a resort have to offer when making your selection on accommodations in San Diego. Unfortunately I can't identify from your review where this misinformation may be located so that we can be sure to correct this issue. We are committed to Making it Right for our guests while they are onsite and we hope you will consider a return visit in the future should your travels bring you back our way. Warmest regards, ELIZABETH MELENDEZ, Hotel Manager

Nice Resort, there will be extras.

Posted Sep 11, 2016
Pros: The rooms and location.
Cons: They should be more forthright with the extra fees, I know it's not great marketing to point these out when checking in. I just left with a bad taste
Location: Close to transit and beaches if driving.
I titled this Nice Resort because that's what it is. The rooms are great, upgrade to ocean view if possible. We did. The staff are very nice and professional. The pool area is very nice. Our phone didn't work for 3 days, no big deal as they gave us a resort credit. Please take notice of the resort name in this review. If you're not going to use the pool every day book somewhere else. We were using this place as a base for adventure. When you book, it says there may be a resort fee. There is one and it's $29.00 US. This isn't mentioned when you check in. Lesson number 1, learned. While checking in they hand you your parking pass and smile. They fail to mention that it costs $36.00 US per day. Lesson number 2 achieved. I'm not in the habit of bashing Hotels and this isn't a bash. Just a warning when booking these trips. Ours ended up costing $244.00 US extra. They apologized after handing me the bill.

Dear Bob and Diana, Thank you for the feedback and recent visit. It is our goal to provide every guest with a relaxing and enjoyable stay filled with wonderful memories. With that we work hard to be transparent regarding our fees at the booking process. The only surprises we want for our guests are happy ones! We do require it be noted that there is a fee for self parking, however because this is not something every guest uses, your directed to contact us directly for further information. We understand your concerns and we appreciate the feedback. Should your travels bring you back our way for a great adventure with lots of amenities for guests of all ages to enjoy right onsite and steps away on Mission Beach it would be our pleasure to share with you all the fun to be had at the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa. Warmest regards, ELIZABETH MELENDEZ, Hotel Manager

great location with amazing views

Posted Sep 11, 2016
Pros: the balcony with a beautiful bay view, pool with cafe and waitresses serving pool side, the park and bay walk path
Cons: parking should be more reasonably priced, late checkout to be more available since we asked a day in advance but were told we can't check out later
The room with a bay view and balcony was amazing and very cozy! I love that everything you need is at the resort, the pool, a cafe, a cozy restaurant by the bay, a park, a convenience/gifts store and all kinds of activities available. No need to even leave the resort for much other than seeing more parts of San Diego, the stuff was very friendly the cleaning lady even organized my bathroom accessories very carefully for me which they usually never do so that was nice and very helpful. The parking was a little over priced and the restaurant is a little expensive but definitely worth the price I loved the food!

Dear Olya, We're so happy you found everything you needed to enjoy a relaxing and adventurous stay in San Diego, right on site at the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa. While we do our very best to accommodate special requests such as early check-ins and late checkouts and specific room locations, unfortunately this is not always possible. With a very busy resort with near 100 percent occupancy and a very short 4 hours to inspect all rooms, clean, and make any necessary repairs before the next guest arrives is a challenge. We work hard to be competitive with the other resorts on Mission Bay and we would love to welcome you back for a return stay that rivals or exceeds this one. Thank you for the feedback and for being our valued guest. All the best, DON DENNIS, Managing Director

Hotel close to beach

Posted Sep 8, 2016
Pros: Close to beach, nice pool, lots of activities at your disposal. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dated, but at least they are clean. Sliding door to patio was too difficult to open. No bathroom fan (or did not work)
Location: Close to beach and activities was fantastic; this hotel however is not within walking distance to any stores or restaurants, you must take a taxi.
Overall I would probably stay again only because it's located right on the beach.

Dear Ron, Thank you for sharing your experience at the Hilton san Diego Resort and Spa with the Expedia community. We're delighted our central San Diego location right on Mission Bay, with 18 acres of lush landscapes to enjoy that serene resort feel and our array of outdoor activities was a great fit for your trip. It would be our pleasure to host you in the future and showcase our evolution with you. All the best, DON DENNIS, Managing Director

Its close to the water, not the ocean.

Posted Sep 4, 2016
Pros: clean
Cons: When room rates are advertised on line, include all fees
Location: Isolated
surprised with extra $ 200 in fees at time of check out for 3 nights. $ 36 per day for parking along with some type of daily service fee for $ 29 per day of parking at the facility along with some type of $30 per day service fee if you use the services or not, which I didn't.

Amount paid for hotel expected much more.

Posted Sep 2, 2016
Pros: Near beach.
Cons: Lighting, more electrical sockets. Better shower curtain. Bathroom smelled. More Coffee packets. We only had 2 regular packs.
Location: Excellent location. Went to Humphreys Concert venue. Lots of restaurants to go to. Beach A+.
I've stayed at many hotels and had a nice clean stay. For 279.00 I expected a microwave and good lighting. The shower curtain had holes with a mildew smell. Yes the hotel was near the beach and that is what I think I paid for. For this amount of $ I would not recommend.

Dear Lorie, While we're glad our central location on Mission Bay was a value for you, we're sorry we fell short of providing you with accommodations that exceeded your expectations and your shower curtain fell short of our standards. While most of our rooms do have microwaves, some room configurations do not. However we are always happy to provide you with one during your stay as well as additional coffee packs. We hope you will consider a return stay should your travels bring you back to San Diego. Thank you for this feedback and for the visit. Kindly, DON DENNIS

Outdated

Posted Aug 29, 2016
Pros: The staff was very nice. I liked the style it was just old looking.
Cons: Rooms need updated especially the bathrooms.
Location: Besides the restaurants on the site there where no nearby restaurants in walking distance.
Staff was very pleasant. The facility seemed outdated my room definitely needed maintenance. When walking through the halls it seem very musky. My patio needed painting, the paint was peeling and dirty. Gardens needed maintenance around my patio. For a Hilton Resort I expected it to be nicer especially for the price.

While we are constantly making updates and improvements throughout the resort, we apologize that was not reflected in your accommodations. As the summer comes to a very busy end and the children and families head back home for the school year, the tree trimming begins and the after summer refresh is well underway. Thank you for your feedback and visit. We hope to welcome you back for a perfect visit. Warmest regards, ELIZABETH MELENDEZ Hotel Manager
